I picked up "The Art of The Force Awakens" earlier and thought I'd share some pics. Let me know if there's anything you guys want to see.
This one is for all the people who said they should end used TIE interceptors in the film

All the main chars had different names earlier. Rey and Finn were initially designed as "Kira" and "Sam". I notice they look a lot like the Solo twins here in this pic.

The thing about this design is that it negates one of the advantages of the Interceptor, which was the cut-out portion of the panel which gives the pilot better peripheral vision and thus better situational awareness than the basic fighter gives them. This design seems like peripheral vision would be even worse than the basic fighter's, since the panels now protrude farther forward without any such cutout.

Why didn't they use the Warhammer? It's always some slow if not near stationary space fortress with a super shield vs. a ragtag fleet.

I liked the film, but this concept art looks a lot better than the designs they went with. With all hope they'll show up again in eps 8.

You can still use the Warhammer since it's a completely unexpected strategy and not some massive Resistance fleet. It's designed to take on these stupid superweapons and just ram into capital ships. Hyperspace in, break the shield, launch the fighters, and have your ground assault force drop in.
Something new and your nostalgia battle with the snub fighters running around and commando raids.
If you want to go even further once you turn around use the engine wake as a fusion torch.

This is a really cool. I love the idea of lightsabers existing before advanced technology. Jedis running around with crystals jammed into sticks that they activate with the force.
