Always got to have at least one jackass in the squadron who uses a sword and not a gun, right? Do the Muv-Luv writers actually seriously believe that sword+knife is better equipment for giant robots than gun+knife anything other than situationally, do the characters argue this to be the case in the story?
>>
Instead of providing the actual in-universe explanation as given in UL/ALT, I shall try to present an acceptable alternative argument:

Someone has to carry the specialist armaments. Think of the guy carrying the SAW in a fireteam, or the guy packing the rocket launcher. Clearly those weapons aren't meant to be used to solve every problem you face, they're roleplayers for an ever-changing situation.
>>
>Do the Muv-Luv writers actually seriously believe that sword+knife is better equipment for giant robots than gun+knife anything other than situationally
No

>uses a sword and not a gun
Why not both

The sword isn't even standard equipment for that thing anyways, they have to get them off the Chinese since only Asians and silly European nobles think they're a good idea.
>>
>>13647013

As mentioned by Theodore in the LN, Anette is one pilot out of seven in a squadron out of several hundred dozen squadrons in all of the NVA who may or may not even have their own -77 sword equipment per squadron which has been acknowledged in-story as being equipment only ever imported in small numbers, not widely used, and bound for phase-out some day or another amongst the NVA.

She is also fairly capable at using it the same way Theodore is a "knife expert" - though, as if the finer uses of parry, reversal, and blocking in a knife fight are of any use when your opponent is a fucking 16-meter tall battering ram capable of bringing down your TSF through your "knife-block" in one hit if allowed to.

Seems odd to continually harp on this (this is not the first time I'm seeing this post about SM's PV) when Anette is presented as the single odd case allowed for reasons as detailed by >>13647029.
>>

>as if the finer uses of parry, reversal, and blocking in a knife fight are of any use when your opponent is a fucking 16-meter tall battering ram capable of bringing down your TSF through your "knife-block" in one hit if allowed to.
I assumed the knives are mostly used for prying little red fuckers off your squadmates, since trying to shoot them off would probably just end up with shooting your buddy in the face. Dunno why they don't put bayonets on the guns.
>>
>>13647230
gun bayonets are actually kinda cumbersome all things considered.

Good for reaching out and poking things without firing off your rooty tooty point and shooty but for when you want finesse from your bladed tool you'd want a knife.

>do the characters argue this to be the case in the story?
Aside from the specifics stated in Schwarzesmarken, it's a point brought up on a few occasions in the original trilogy. In Unlimited, Meiya, who is skilled with the sword and the resident YAMATO DAMASHI, still outright states that guns are better in most cases.

However, particularly for nations that lie close to or border BETA-held territory, TSFs will often have to be deployed in positions within close proximity to BETA (remembering that faster BETA classes can travel up to 170 or more kilometers per hour and are in packs of several tens of thousand strong) where supply lines can be disrupted easily. In such a case, a melee weapon can quite useful.

A lack of ammo is actually quite a persistent problem in this world, where most of the nations were chomped on back in the 1980s. You have to remember that, apart from TSF-specific tech, prosthetics, and some Alternative Project tech, the setting of Muv-Luv is significantly LESS advanced than real world 2001.
>>
>>13647282
Experimental, by all accounts it never panned out. Even the Shiranui Phase 3 used standard Type-87s.

Which is funny, you'd think the Marines would be all over a non-stealthed version of this for their Super Hornets. It still can't hard slash worth a damn, but being able to poke Tanks and, if you're lucky, Grapplers, to death without having to draw an extra weapon would still be an improvement.

>>13647230
Theodore believes in equal opportunity for all BETA that pass his knife.

They all have knives, their main melee apart from Anette is the shield, and they all have to drop their guns to go for a knife unless they've already lost the shield, so I don't see why Anette maining the sword is much of an issue at all especially when it can chop through a Grappler's armored claw in one swing, something that's definitely not accomplish-able with a knife which clearly has shorter range than a Grappler's claw.

Melee is presented as a very play-by-ear action across the series, you don't see any characters moving in formation for melee like how Irisdina calls out fire formations with guns or how Michiru orders her units into specific formations. Makes sense for them to go with whatever they're most comfortable with if they're going to be part of the squadron's delaying team anyways.
>>
>>13647328
Unless the material a sword is made out of is significantly more durable than the armor of a TSF, I'd still argue that a sword won't kill as many BETA before breaking or bending than a gun (which takes up the same size equipment slot as sword) +spare mags will kill before you're out.
>>
>>13647185
>though, as if the finer uses of parry, reversal, and blocking in a knife fight are of any use when your opponent is a fucking 16-meter tall battering ram capable of bringing down your TSF through your "knife-block" in one hit if allowed to

Pretty sure he wouldn't try to fight a TSF on foot; he's not Master Asia (or Graf).

>prying little red fuckers off your squadmates
TSFs are far more valuable than their pilots, especially as the war wore on. One of the primary reasons the pilot suits use that advanced form-fitting sealing system is that it's nearly one-size-fits all, and they're expected to be recovered and re-used after a previous pilot's demise.

One of the first chapters in Schwarzesmarken deals with the recovery of a TSF whose pilot had been terminally injured.

>>13647336
>sword won't kill as many BETA
In the VN melee weapons are never used with the same purpose as ranged. When facing BETA their primary purpose is to either A) clear a path that is obstructed by one of the larger BETA (a Destroyer from the rear or perhaps a Grappler), which would require a ton of ammo to incapacitate, or B) as a back-up option once ammo has run out.

And importantly, only specific squad members are issued a melee weapon: those that are designated to break BETA formations that are protecting the Laser-classes so that ranged units have better firing angles on them.
>>
>>13647336
TSFs generally don't carry an enormous amount of ammo because that's not their mission parameter (embedded emplacements, mobile rocket launchers, tanks, nearby surface combatant ships and other conventional forces take care of that). TSFs are there to exploit gaps in enemy lines, take positions quickly, and destroy high priority targets, such as Lasers, so they're limited on ammo to begin with.
>>
>>13647357
>TSFs are far more valuable than their pilots

See I remember this being the exact fucking opposite elsewhere; the pilot is the most important element with TSFs being virtually a dime a dozen.

>>

>>13647357
Pilots are more valuable than their TSFs. They mention that they have more fighters than pilots to operate them.
>>
>>13647547

I thought it was the other way around in SM, considering they're having serious shortage of TSFs.
>>
>>13647552
One of those statements is something like a billion or two casualties later.
>>
>>13647547
This is in the 1990s/2000s when 30 years of repeated losses is taking its toll on human replacements. They're finally hitting that brick wall against a swarm-type opponent where the incubation, creation, and maturation period of a single BETA is measured in months at most, is entering the final crunch against the humans.

>>13647552
This is in the 1970s/early 1980s when they're scrambling to outfit the nations with the most needs with TSFs to counter the BETA and put laserjagd into effect. Production is barely catching up because it's not until the mid-1980s and 1990s where battleships were able to add their power into the mix on the defense lines; prior to that it was the land forces taking the brunt of the invasion, TSFs amongst them.
>>
>>13647570
>>13647599
Surely pilot training is more resource intensive building a fighter? Even in real life where we haven't taken a billion casualties this is the case.
>>
>>13647659
The majority of nations were on a rapid training rearmament program at the start of 1974. So they ended up having a glut of pilots at the start while TSF production was still playing catchup. Production was also slow during the adaptation of industries from, say, making fighter parts to making TSF parts.

Real world pilot training is only resource-intensive in that you dying on a training flight is bad PR for the public and they waste a perfectly good machine for nothing. Every frontline nation has the same pattern of proper training at the start, then accelerated training when the losses mount whereby side tests and "safe for active duty" evaluations are cut out for the purpose of training in basic tactics in order to meet the grinder quota, and finally at the end where if you're not a caveman and can push joysticks, you're ready to go. Of course, by then there are also very few qualified meatbags you can put in the TSF. Even broken TSFs can be scraped together to make a working one. But broken people can't be scraped together to make a functioning person.

It's all being taken out of context with those previous simple one-liner statements. Irisdina says to retrieve Inghild's TSF, but it was a spur of the moment decision to jolt Anette into action and prevent Gretel from biting a stubborn Theodore's head off - making a seemingly dumb decision to get the squadron moving -now-, and out of the way of the incoming fighter-bomber/artillery shelling waves. As well, the 666th are stationed at the most frontline of frontline bases short of camping in the trenches themselves; of course they're can salvage the TSF for future uses - especially when they already had accomplished their mission and the immediate threat had been sated. Still, that doesn't mean that they have anywhere near the number of pilots they'd like to have, nor does it mean that the explicit policy of those times were to effect salvage of downed TSFs at any cost. Simply a matter of situation.

One thing that's always annoyed me about the Sue/Stu argument is that people seem to think that building characters is a balancing act. For every positive there should be an equal and opposite negative. Talented, charismatic people have existed throughout history. Apart from Jürgen, both Beatrix and Iris have great leadership abilities, and are very good pilots, but you wouldn't call them Mary Sues for that. Also, the young age thing that people bring up would be odd if this wasn't Muv-Luv. Beatrix, for instances, was heading up an entire stasi bust operations when she was just 19 (see Gretel's side story). By the time she was 22, she had a whole TSF battalion of hand-picked elites in state-of-the-art machinery under her thumb.

Dolores is the main mech of that anime, and like Jehuty (the main mech in the videogames), her AI is sentient. However, her AI is also a little girl rather than an emotionless war machine, and the running joke throughout the series is that she's much more interested in frilly dresses and cute things than fighting. That pic is from one of her fantasy sequences where she thinks about what she'd like to be (a waitress, in this case).

I haven't reached that particular moment yet, but Dolores is basically just a teenage girl in a giant mecha body. She's probably fantasizing again. At least this time she's not imagining herself as human.

>>13649603

I don't think he's a Stu, we just haven't gotten the books yet. Summaries do an OK job of portraying plot, but are piss poor for actually showing characters. I'm pretty sure that he'll have some pretty big flaws (for instances, inserting himself into situations way above his level / misgauging his skill/ his idealism / being easily deceived by others; pretty much the opposite of Theo's paranoia, pessimism, and cynicism). The reason why the 2channers all seem to prefer him over Theo isn't because he's awesome sauce, but because he's very likable and proactive (even if it causes him and others trouble).

You could argue that the second VN will flesh her out, but everything I read about her makes it sound like this "fleshing out" will only show her to be even more of a pile of human excrement. Bitch is like a genderswapped Reinhard Heydrich if the spoilers are anything to go off of.

I'm confused, I keep on hearing all these conflicting opinions on why Beatrix hates Iris. Is it mostly just her being petty over "Iris existing and being better at being a pilot" or is it over the whole Jürgen shit?
>>

From what i know she is classic tsundere in BiS, can cook has a playful/trolling side here dere side is cute. Is a perfect 10. what is there not for Jürgen to like? She is not bad in BiS where she is dating Jürgen. She changed after Jürgen died. Iris possibly had something to do with that we just dont know yet we have to wait for BiS to finish.
>>
>>13650735

Doesn't seem to be much love lost between Beato and Jurgen in SM:

>By providing information on her treasonous older brother, she showed her loyalty to the state—or did she? Perhaps it’s necessary to consider the betrayal of her brother, and her loyalty to the State, as two separate things, thought Beatrix.

No passion really in the above. There's even a bit of negativity directed towards Jurgen.

Like others have said, Beatrix is likely the one who got Jurgen killed and then pinned the blame on Iris. Probably because she's a petty, power hungry gloryhound and all around shit person. She's as bad as Axmann imo.

>>13650760

You don't learn to be Beatrix's level of evil, you kinda have to born "off;" kinda like sociopaths can be raised in perfectly good families but still torture/kill animals and grow up to be serial killers.

That was just shit made up by some Beatrixfags. Last thread showed that there's an apologist whose been putting out false info to make Beatrix look better. Of course, many anons bought into it because she's hot and they want to believe she's something more than Stalin-tier evil. I can quote Japanese opinions to back me up too (http://hitorijojo.doorblog.jp/archives/37332159.html):

There, guy says that Beatrix is an absolutely horrible woman who only got worse as the books went on.

Are you not convinced?

>>13651016

What'd'ya expect. I've pointed out multiple times why Beatrix is terrible. There is absolutely nothing redeeming about her. She isn't complex; there are no deeper motivation or past transgression to justify her behavior. She's a petty and jealous little cunt who hates Iris because she takes a shit all over her by "just existing." So she sets out to ruin Iris for it. I doubt Iris has ever really done anything to Beatrix that wasn't a reaction to some new psyco shit Beatrix was trying to pull on her. Face it, she's a bad person who never should've been born.

Meiya and friends threw some at the BETA in Kashgar Hive and didn't die in the ensuing blast, which is funny since they didn't have any kind of launching mechanism beyond "giant robot throwing arm".

Maybe they should issue TSFs with upscaled versions of these things.

Aren't the issue with mass usage of tactical nuclear weapons the fallout? I'm no nuclear physicist, but if I recall, fission gives the most bang for buck, and consequently, scattering radioactive particles everywhere.

I mean heavy metal is also terrible for respiratory health but at least if you have to sit in and get smothered in it on a bad wind day it won't slowly cook you in your own artillery vehicle, and you can at least mitigate some of it with masks, or if you're starved for equipment, a good piece of cloth (not that it works all that well, but ease of mind to keep the grunts quiet, and it does keep your nose from being clogged up rather than openly breathing in metal air).

>TSFs launch missiles with davy crockett warheads
>It's a bad wind day, the heavy metal and radioactive dust particles blow towards the artillery group (this is acknowledged as a weakness of HM tactics in-series)
>They can't maintain heavy metal coverage without staying and bringing +100 irradiated vehicles back to base and being grounded while half the base has to be decontaminated, and are ordered to relocate
>Shite terrain, can't get good shots from new positions and upkeep a high ROF

>Meanwhile TSFs are being gangbanged and fucked sideways, front, back, top and bottom into the Stone Age while the artillery commanders wonder what the flying fuck is HQ ordering them in-between mountains for

Mind, the Soviets and China didn't give two fucks and just let loose with nukes, while most of the Western Front were characterized with defensive battles; they weren't just giving up land, since it wouldn't make political sense for one nation to give up land for use as a strategic denial killzone for another nation - unlike the two largest Eastern bloc nations that could afford to do just that. After Oder-Neisse, there were also the Zuiderzee defence, and the Dunkirk Retreat/Defense of Paris, to mention those battles that have been named.

I was talking about S-11s. They need a better way to deploy them on the fly at the front than suicide bombing or bringing a Susanoo with missiles with S-11s on the end.

Only in a TDA scenario would they go really crazy with the nukes.
>>

It's not really though, since it has both a shield that can resist sustained laser fire and a weapon that can eliminate large amounts of BETA in one go. Don't listen to the Irisfags, they rely on wrong informations as much as you are ( 2ch posters are like us : They like to resume a lot of things to make it easier to understand, and make shortcuts to try to summarize things, but the most you summarize something, the most likely someone is to misread it ).

Really basically, we *can* say that Iris is putting Germany before World, and Beatrix is doing the opposite. I insist on the " Really basically ", because the conversations are way more complex than that and resuming them to that is partially wrong, but that's their overall tendencies.

Once again, nothing is entirely black or white in SM.

I'm just going off of the few spoilers and translations we got, and they mention shit like the stasi running concentration camps for dissenters and undesirables, randomly torturing and killing even children, and just being cartoonishly evil. Even minor stasi characters, like the one chick who was going to have Katia tortured and possibly raped, come off as the spawn of satan. Beatrix herself takes part in a lot of the above, and seems to do so with relish if the spoilers are right, and the less said about Axmann, the better.

Sadly, only Germans and people familiar with the works of national militaries will be able to see the distinction.

Still, the Iron Cross has nowhere near the infamy of the swastika or, on the Japanese side, the Rising Sun flag of the JMSDF, so it's not that bad.

You guys ever seen someone scream and point "Nazis" in a Buddhist temple? I thought I would be able to make it though life without seeing that firsthand.

Don't know what you're on about, bub, I ain't heard of no Korean controversy with it. The RS flag was also the IJ naval ensign; you think common people are going to nitpick about detail placement of the "sun's" centralization?

If you think only the Koreans and the Chinese harp about it, then it's only because it's they're the loudest at it. The older generation of SEAseans still do pass comments about it for precisely the same reason I've highlighted; they don't see the distinction as clearly as people who take the time to search the differences. What's your problem?

>>13656306

No. First VN is just the first 3 volumes. No material from TSFiA, Requiem or BiS in it (seriously, you couldn't squeeze in Kurt's story). Even had scenes cut rather than added, disappointingly.
Second VN covers the rest, and is planned to have three routes. They better add in the side material too, because all the characters benefit tremendously from the little tidbits in Requiem and BiS. Transforms the cast from being a bunch of unlikable ciphers into very sympathetic, but flawed individuals (see Gretel and Sylwia).

>>
>>13656351

Funny, the clothes are vaguely similar to Jurgen's.
>>
>>13656359

That's what I was thinking.

Looking at the training Axmann gave to Lise, it's right up his alley to force Beatrix to execute her lover. Matches with the timeline too. Beatrix was picked up by Axmann sometime in 1978, the same year the stasi purged Strachwitz and all his associates in the "Night of Moonlight." Makes Beatrix's contempt for stasi leadership make more sense too (rather than just the whole power hungry bitch explanation). If she actually had to shoot Jurg, it also makes Beato's vendetta against Iris almost sympathizable and also justifies Iris's huge murderboner towards her.
>>
>>13656368
Too bad that the one behind Axman is Liz

>>
>>13656368
so Irisdina betrays Jürgen and Beatrix is forced to execute him?
>>
>>13656630
>>13656501

I like to think of SM as being two stories wrapped around each other. You got Theo's story, and Iris's story.

The main antagonist to Iris is obviously Beatrix, while the main antagonist to Theo is definitely Axmann.
>>
>>13656640

It is a possibility. We don't know, but it would explain a lot.
>>
>>13656625

I don't really think that Beatrix is as 'morally complex' as you believe she potentially is, especially since it was proven that supporters were fabricating tales in Beatrix's favor.
>>
>>13656694
>>13656625

As much as I hate TVTropes, they do a pretty good job in describing the type of person Beatrix is:

>The Complete Monster is the most depraved of all characters; a villain utterly lacking in redeeming features. Trying to put a value on the evilness of a Complete Monster is like calculating the credit score of Bill Gates: it's a moot point.

>Or, anyway, that is how the character is presented in the story. The character is a bad guy, full stop. The author has not taken the character through any actions toward redemption, or at least any that stuck.

>The Complete Monster can be recognized by these signs:

>The character is truly heinous by the standards of the story, which makes no attempt to present the character in any positive way.

>The character's terribleness is played seriously at all times, evoking fear, revulsion and hatred from the other characters in the story.

>They are completely devoid of altruistic qualities. They show no regret for their crimes.

Beatrix pretty much hits all the above and then some. She up there with the likes of Katejina, Bask, and Gihren in her complete lack of morality.

There really isn't much too her unfortunately. She's evil and she likes to hurt people. Viola, 90% of her character right there. Even Axmann is a more complicated character than her despite arguably being even worse (imo, Beatrix killed way more over way less time than Axmann ever did).
>>
>>13656707
One thing that gets me is that nowadays, you have to explain exactly why they're monsters, otherwise your entry gets removed without warning (aside a few odd exceptions that have been forgotten).
>Bask
It's funny you say that, because like him, Beatrix has a backstory that explains why she turned the way she is. It's not excusable at all, of course (especially since Bask's isn't even seen on-screen).
>>
>>13656734

Wonder if we have enough to add Beatrix onto that list? Esdeath was on there for a little while, and if anything, Beatrix is played straight unlike Esdeath.

Honestly, killing Beatrix really redeemed Theodor for me. It was pretty much one of the few deaths in SM that I felt good about.
>>
Didn't Beatrix also have Pham and Sylwia raped as part of their torture? She's as bad as Axmann really.
>>
>>13656745
Probably, though I think it would help if Axmann was bunched in together with her (that's how Flashman's Ra Deus and Lee Kefren got added, after all). Schwarzesmarken's page doesn't have a YMMV page yet, so caution may be needed here in case they'll be trying to look for a source.
>>
>>13656751
Raping unarmed women is as Russian as you can get. It's like a tradition, really.
>>
>>13656753

>>
>>13656753

It's actually somewhat sympathetic to Beatrix.

>>13656764

I was laughing at the Irisfag with the rest of you guy until I saw the PV. That smirk she gives as she executes people puts her squarely in the sadistic, cold-hearted murdering bitch category.

I was hoping the Irisfags would be wrong. I really wanted to love Beatrix as much as I love Iris, you know, have some ambiguity in who is right and who is wrong, and make both girls have their good points and bad points. I suppose it wasn't to be. I guess Iris is just a perfect fucking angel and God's gift to the world while Beatrix is just a super evil bitch with absolutely no positives that should've smothered in the crib.

I don't really like this turn of events at all, to say the least.

>According to Yoshimune-san’s original proposal, they were the strongest TSF squadron, but also the most hated, so the name should be something like “Death Squadron”, something that sounds cool.

>But “Death Squadron” didn’t have the right hook to it, so we all talked it over, and the title Triage was suggested.

>Triage refers to classifying wounded allies on the battlfield, with a black tag signifying they cannot be saved and must be abandoned, and prioritizing those with a red tag. In order to save as many lives as possible, they must choose to abandon those who cannot be saved. Then, those who are abandoned would hate them and treat them as if they were Grim Reapers – that’s what it boiled down to.

>Then, we thought about a black tag, black mark, black verdict. Black is Schwarzes, so Schwarzesmarken. We decided that a Russian officer was praising the success of East Germany’s 666th TSF Squadron, and gave them that nickname. And that’s how they got their slightly grammaticaly incorrect nickname – that’s the story we came up with when we decided on the name Schwarzesmarken.

Every time we counter arguments, the Irisfags get to the charge again the next day with the same things. I'm not on /a/, I won't argue with them forever. Good thing for them if they are the loudest, and too bad for the people who are actually buying their shit. I don't care anymore. Biggest thing you can do to counter their insanity is add info to the wiki/tvtropes if you've read the LN/VN. That's where most of the EOP will go to get their info to fill in the inevitable holes the anime will leave.

BiS alone really fucks up all their arguments (which is why they all ignore it to repost discredited shit like the Pham rape rumor).

>Walken
Revealed that his higher-level fire controls were locked by his own team mate who turns out to be a CIA dog.

>Sagiri
There were sporadic arguments of whether Sagiri let Mana kill him or not before SM took over the discussion. They didn't exactly go at it serious in the VN compared to the way they both fought during the early stages in the 12/5 Incident. In the manga he pretty much gives up - for what other reason would anyone close their eyes and shift to unguarded stance in the middle of a fucking duel to the death? If you want to see it, it's page 29 of chapter 35.

>Thessleff
One of the subpoints of that arc was that talent/being a special snowflake is fuck-all in the face of actual experience, otherwise it'll just play out like that one fanfiction where Takeru duels Sagiri into the fucking ground in a Fubuki and saves Irma and Walken from being killed while Meiya plays backseat driver to him during the entire fight.

Is it really that hard to accept that being outnumbered and playing into an area where the enemy is roughly equal in attack/defense capabilities against the "superior machine" is enough, let alone that expecting some disposable CIA sleeper mole from a refugee camp is going to be some super ace pilot?

>Michiru
Wasn't she a Gun Interceptor?

>Marimo

>Gekishin PILOTS

At this point it's like saying that Shin Matsunaga and Johnny Ridden aren't aces because they're never seen in action where they achieved ace status. That said, I remember Marimo and the UN pilots being called VETERANS for having seen their share of battle, but they're never outright called aces that have slain millions of BETA prior to the story.

>Takeru's squad

Literally the same issue. Apart from a few scenes where they shoot at things it's not like none of them did anything spectacular either until Ouka where the Susanoo carried the squad with gunspam for half the entire way.

>Mana
Yeah, maybe if you stick Takeru in the XFJ-01a Phase 3 , that is.

>should just be Ostdeutschland and Westdeutschland
>what are they even paying philip-kun for
I ask myself the same thing from time to time

Wasn't Marimo in Fuji before joining UN?
>>
>>13658946

Yes, she was. And she was put there because she kept throwing her fresh squadrons into grinder situations. During that period of time she was known as a good pilot but a shit leader.

That's how she got her name of Mad Dog. After her first sortie as detailed in Atonement, she, in order to avenge Arai, fights like mad and survives, but each time she ends up being the sole survivor.
>>
>>13659082
Actually she got her kicks in after atonement on the front lines, where she earned the Mad Dog tag. Got rotated to the Fuji training corps after, and then to the UN when Yuuko 'borrowed' her.

Also, veterans could be Aces, but all Aces are vets.

>all Aces are vets
Yuuya became technically an ace on his first live combat sortie but I'd hardly call him a vet at that point
>>
>>13659110
> Mad Dog
That was only after she beat up Michiru though. 'Shinigami' was her earlier epithet, which was even worse (i.e. sortieing under her is a death flag).

Here's a little translation snippet for you guys:

"Sooner or later... you will know…"

"...the limitations of your dream... only under stasi dominion…only ideals like mine, will bring hope to humanity..."

[Beato makes a lot of pain noises]

"——I shall be watching how it ends then... in Valhalla... with pleasure…"

You got that from the Chinese, didn't you.

She seems rather vindictive about everything, but I would too if my machine was failing on me and some punk buried a meter of steel into me.

Is anyone actually looking forward to the anime considering that the director hasn't directed shit for a decade now?

Second.

I'm just back from a pre-screening of episode 1.
They did a pretty good job. Quality is very solid and they managed to cram a whole novel into 20 minutes very neatly.
Now everyone involved is praying the quality stays that way...

At the very least yes.
But there will most likely be a big gap between then and the last episode, in which the studio uses a lot of budget to do the battle inside Berlin.

>and they managed to cram a whole novel into 20 minutes
The whole volume 1 in 20 minutes? Not even just half the volume?
Even if it's the director who squashed the whole prologue of Kiminozo into two episodes this is overboard.
>>
>>13661725
more or less. they jumped right to Katia professing what she came to East Germany for at the end of the episode.
