***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

We've got a new group build and the theme is "Factory Roll-out!"
The enemies found out the location of the secret mobile suit factory and are at the gates!
The foreman's authorized the use of any mobile suit that's operable to defend the facility.
Most of them are still in there stock colors so no need to watch the paint job.

Build and paint up anything mecha that looks like it just rolled off the factory floor.
End date TBA

>the theme is basically anything!

Doesn't factory rollout basically mean various greys due to it supposed to not being painted yet?

how does this theme accomplish that goal more compared to any other

>>13633836

seriously
>>
>>13633844
Aren't we a little pissy today?
It literally doesn't matter what people do, it's just a unifying idea that people can incorporate into their future builds if they want. It's what you guys voted for and if you're not happy with it then don't participate. If everyone wanted their own ideas then there's no point in a group build and it's just like normal around here.
In the end people will build with as much effort or as little effort as they want. There was an old /toy/ group build with the Titans theme and some fuck just submitted a stock RG Mk II. It's all for fun anyway

Early Christmas present to myself, my $4 nippers I bought last year are like safety scissors now but these new ones seem pretty good for $10.

Is it a common thing to "rebuild" kits you've previously completed? Like, I don't do any painting now because I don't have the money for an airbrush and I'm scared of ruining a kit I like with shitty paint, but what if I got an airbrush in a year from now and painted the Hizack? Would it still be like I had painted it directly out of the box if I washed it off and took it apart for painting?
>>
>>13633874
Are those the ones you push in and paint come out?

I generally like to leave old kits be so I can see the progress I have made. I do sometimes do use them if I just want to test a little thing. You can do it though just make sure they aren't dusty and remove stickers if you used any

Though my way does mean I do have multiple of some, but no man can have enough Grimoires

Reporting from /toy/. Mind helping me figure something out guys? I have my airbrush on standby to test spray.

I was testing with water only but even when merely holding the trigger down it spray slight amounts of water, not just air like it should. Would any of you know why? I watched some vids on assembly and am sure I followed them correctly.

Ok, what's needed to stop that? It has happened every time I spray anything.

Did it with paint, same things, cleaned up.
Tried water with some food dye, same result.

It's got to be my fault somehow, the airbrush was bought brand new. Since even assuming I thinned wrong (new to this so it's easily possible) it would still need to have the lever pulled back to spray paint and stuff.
>>
>>13634054

>>
>>13634096
Single action works like a spraycan. You push down and it sprays. Double action is the one where you pull back after pushing down to control how much paint is released at once.

What model of btush do you have?
>>
>>13634089
It's a Badger Patriot 105, gravity fed and double action. I think the insides are good to go, but I do believe I'm not great at the trigger assembly.

I have the same model, make sure the needle is pushed forward as far as possible without forcing it. Also check to see that the nozzle (cone bit) isn't damaged at the tip (not flared or cracked).
>>
>>13634122
Come bit being the part inside the nozzle cap, right? Not the cover, but the actual little part that the needle slides into and then you place the cap over that? That part is unharmed, the cap for it also seems to be ok.

See this is infuriating

A two piece split interior "skull" thing where you need to paint the black and monoeye, and then the outside of the helmet, which also has bars from top to bottom, preventing masking as easily, is also split down the middle

So the best way to do it is paint the entire inner part black/pink for the eye, tape it up, then build the rest of the head around it, weld it, fully paint it while doing the kit and then remove the tape on the inner part

what a pain in the ass
>>
>>13634232

also the outer part does NOT fit over the skull part if done separately, and it attaches by pegs on the side
>>
>>13634187
Can you provide pics of it disassembled/assembled or video of the problem?

>>13634313

I just got here but I don't think the cap could even be the problem, if anything it's the way the needle is seating in the nozzle, because when you let the air go with your figer down something is allowing the water to escape from the needle/nozzle point

Can you try for a closeup of the nozzle and the needle end together? Basically hold the needle straight up and rest the nozzle on top of it, don't push down at all just gravity

I'm still not quite sure what's wrong judging from the pictures and I'm pretty sure the only way we'll figure it out is if you post a webm or something of the problem. Only things I can think of is that either the nozzle and needle aren't creating a seal at the tip or that the nozzle isn't seated into the main body properly.
Correct me if I'm wrong but these are the only problems that you can actually fix and otherwise you're better off returning it and getting another.

Fellow Patriot anon, person with the problems here. What's your thoughts on this situation? Someone with more experience with the brush should have an idea.

I moved the needle up to the point where it feels like you should stop. I wouldn't want to break it by pushing it past there. The needle/nozzle seem to be an issue according to anons in here, but I can't exactly know at this point.

I've only had it like 2 months, the warranty for returns is valid if I need it.

Dammit anon I was one of the guys helping you this whole time; I've only had it for about 5 months though but I've never run into the issue of it leaking paint. I can confirm that there is no gasket/o-ring anywhere at the tip (only one is towards the rear where the handle screws onto the body).

I'm taking a break from priming so ignore all the crap on the airbrush but this is about how far the needle should come out of the nozzle.

We spent like 3 threads voting. Rollout colors won. And the challenge is to make it look good. If it sounds too easy try out a new product or technique during it, something you don't normally do to use it as a learning experience.

So how many of the people here complaining actually know anything about Rollout Colors? You're not restricted to gray, that's just something Bandai did for the Exia because they felt like it.

The build could have been named "paint your kit up with a more subdued color scheme", because that's the whole point. There are all sorts of designs that could benefit from not being 3+ colors (hey there literally everything in SRW), so spend less time bitching and more time thinking.

Regardless, you're missing the opportunity in it. Most 'factory roll out' colors are monotone, yes, but not just 'everything is white'. It's more like Phase Shift Down colors - there's different tones placed where they are for a reason.

Think of it like this - you're on a cooking show, the challenge is to make macaroni and cheese. It's a plain ass dish anyone -can- do, but to make it shine or stand out at a gourmet level, you have to show off in more fundamental ways.

>>13635248
The basic idea is that it's fresh off the assembly lines, but it's called Rollout /Colors/ instead of Ver. Just Rolled Out or whatever for a reason. It's ultimately just an alternate color scheme.

If you want to do it without decals to stay more true to the concept, more power to you! If you don't, then that's also fine!
>>
My thoughts on the group build fiasco is that I already like kits with subdued colors, but I dont want to make one that way with some story that it's unfinished. I also just don't feel there's enough creative range with the theme to justify a lot of time investment for it, like there's no room for extra equipment designs. I'm fine that it's the theme and clearly people voted for it, certainly not anon who's running it's fault, just why I don't think I will do a kit for it personally.

it's fine, any actual gunpla stuff is good for the thread, people could stand to post more wips while shitposting
>>
>>13635280
My take on the concept was that it could either be a grunt suit in your bog-standard production facility or some sort of new prototype that's untested that's been found before it could be completed. Honestly it just depends on how much thought you put into it
>>
One way imo to make the group build better is instead of just straight off the assembly line, nearly straight off the assembly line. By that i mean like its missing some parts of a limb or two or something similar. Really at this point its the only sort of thing to make it not incredibly boring.
>>
>>13635299

Oh, okay. I just don't want to turn into another spammer.

Anyway, I need to work on a new handle for the shield. The Graze can't really hold it at all. The other issue I have is the Clanche waist unit eliminates pretty much all forward and backwards leg movement on the Heavybecause the thigh armor goes up too high. Should i try shaving it down or leave it as is?

yep on the same sheet

seriously though, because the cylinder is constructed with the 6 panels holding everything together, you gotta test each square tab (2 per end of each panel) that goes on the square pegs on the caps, they are very snug and you could easily crush the thing if you don't spend time testing each one first.

Group Build organizer anon here, since there's a bit of a debacle surrounding the concept of the "factory roll-out" build I decided to change it in an attempt to foster a bit more creativity. To keep the idea of a mobile suit/mecha that is incomplete or otherwise not fully operational, the theme has been changed to:

Field Repair

Basically what this means is that rather than the mobile suit being fresh out of a factory, it's quite the opposite. Whether it's trudging through dense jungles or dodging debris in asteroid belts, your mobile suit has seen some better days.
You've been out in the field for quite a long time now, nearly half a year of active duty in the front lines and your personal mobile suit's pretty banged up. What's worse is the fact that there isn't a maintenance bay within several thousand kilometers of your local area that's capable of making any major repairs. Your unit's engineering crew has resorted to patch work and jury-rigging to keep your machine operational. Stray fire might have crippled its legs and arms or otherwise dealt considerable damage to a mobile suit's systems meanwhile some units have simply lost bits of armor and panels to the elements and have been forced to patch weld metal sheets over the exposed inner workings.
In any case it's beaten to hell but somehow you and your team have somehow kept it chugging along and now command's ordered all units operating in your theatre to fall back to form a defensive line against the enemy offensive.

Post feedback and try to keep it civil this time
>>
