I'm currently a substitute middle school teacher, so I'd keep doing what I've been doing, with renewed vigor. I continue encouraging my students to apply themselves in life and treat each other fairly.

Kiva came right after Den-O and had 4 Riders (or even 5 Riders if you count 86' Ixa separately) and tons of the usual Inoue drama. Decade also had a wildly varying atmosphere, going from light to dark, sometimes in the same episode.
I don't think Den-O really established anything even though it certainly influenced the future series.

Around 3 Riders was always the norm. Out of Heisei, only Den-O, W, and Fourze have had less Riders in-series.
Kiva, Decade, OOO, Wizard, Gaim, Drive, and now Ghost have all had more than two. Den-O didn't change that much.

Having a completely grim and dark show just drags down the mood of a series down, making the viewer invest in the hopeless feeling dragging them down(Real Life).
That's why a lighthearted series with it's dark moments/dark finale makes the series worth a watch. It makes you appreciate both the lighthearted and dark moments for when one is in effect. Balance is the word.
I give Fourze shit because of it's very light ones for a Rider series, but it brought joy to people, and that makes me happy.
Plus Superheros are meant to give people hope in a bleak world where corruption and evil happens. It's an escape.

But he's not wrong. The original series usually either focused on Hongo, Ichimonji, and rarely both out of suit. We saw this being more focused on in V3 - since the times they did team up were quiet popular - when Shiro and Yuki worked together noticeably more often. This stopped until Stronger, where they maximized pandering and brought in Tackle. After that we didn't really get it. Skyrider had a dude who tried to be a superhero, but that doesn't really count, and Shadowmoon's not really a Rider.
In Showa, the "Lone Hero" motif is much stronger than in Heisei.

To be fair to Fourze, there are huge gaps in what I've watched. Of Kuuga, Ryuki, Blade, OOO, Fourze, Gaim, Drive, and now Ghost, Fourze is my least favourite (discounting Ghost as it just started).
The 2-episode format was especially bad here, there were few engaging villains, too much time was spent on the victim of the week, leaving most of the supporting cast as shallow caricatures (even Kengo was basically a less sassy Yurusen).
