For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!

so that was an interesting built, clear parts are always brittle as fuck so nub removal is difficult, but doable without sandpaper. the chrome parts look great but are fingerprint magnets and the undergating isnt perfect, so you can still see nubs if you know where to look.
the HG is fun to build but i cant wait for MG, its still lacking in alot of details in the joints and parts separation that can only be done in a larger scale.
Any tips on how to snip the brittle clear parts on gunpla runners? I get unsatisfying nub marks even when I ease in the nipping to get closer and closer.

MG Gundam X looks better out of the box. The F91 requires some painting for all those yellow vents on the skirts and shoulders. So I guess it would depend on how much work you want to put into it.

People say that, but it depends on taste and context. Some panel lines should probably be more understated. Where as, I like some to pop dark black because that way it looks more like the cartoons.

Wait. Spend that time making sure you have your shit in order. Do you need more sand paper, do you need to clean/organize your building area, etc etc etc. That should orient you into the right headspace for it, and motivate you to do it later.
Finally got to do a little more work for the haunted grimoire. Blew out the face, finished out the channel for the LED for the head unit in the upper torso, sculpted and made a mold of the baseform that'll become the ghost face that'll be part of the ghost effect coming out of that damaged head and chest unit.
I'll do a clear cast of the head tomorrow and if I have time I'll start work on making the ghost effect.

It's usually just damage to the outer box, unless it explicitly says there's other damage. They'll post pics of it. Worst problem is the smell of them. I don't know if nips are dirty people, but I had to put baking soda in the boxes for a long while until I had the stomach to start assembling them.
Also it's easy to get carried away because the prices are usually cheap. Simple tips are: order all items from one store, only SAHARA store gives shipping estimates and the other stores will generally cost as much to ship from, 500 yen charge for less than a 5,000 yen order w/o shipping.

Nope, 16 for the PG, 10 for the led, at least 8 for the shipping, then 12 % customs + handling, add all that up, about 40 K, and then apply 25 % VAT to bring it up to 50.
Only imports over 20 K jpy need to pay VAT but the shipping is included in that limit.

If you are not buying from Hobby Company in Aiea, then you are looking at a 300% mark up.
The shop goes for a 200% mark up but it is better than nothing in terms of local distribution

If you go the Amazon route, which is usually the best mix of options, price and expediency, you're looking at any RG for 30 dollars or less. A few exceptions, but it's pretty consistent. HGs are the same, with many HGs being at or below 20 dollars. That's including free shipping.
MGs are where shit gets weird. Want an MG Gundam X? I got mine for under 40 dollars. Want a Sazabi? 100 dollars. I realize plastic costs are a concern, but the difference between the priciest and cheapest MGs is just really fucking weird. Then, of course, you've got the PGs which range from 115 to 240 or so for the Unicorn & Banshee.
My McGillis Graze, which came in today, was 12 dollars with prime shipping.

Well, if I remember from the RG Wing Zero EW, ~45 dollars is the suggested MSRP. After a month or so, the price drops considerably.
Depending on how quickly you bought it, 48 dollars isn't necessarily too horrible. Especially when you account for Hawaii island markup. Not like they can easily ship your excess stock to some other location like they can in, say, Los Angeles.

Can't speak for the Zaku but the Mk II is generally considered the most perfect of UC perfect grades. Probably the most detailed inner frame of any PG out of the box.
Only the PG GP01-f/b trumps it because of the ability to swap between either version of the gundam. But it's also twice the price.

Interesting, I never considered the GP01. The extra core fighter looks very enticing, but I don't think it's for me.
I do have another question - the LEDs. I know Bandai does sell some colored ones, but is that actually important? The white and green LEDs are inexpensive, but the red has a nasty markup. I wouldn't regret putting a white LED in for a Zaku's mono eye, would I?

the LEDs that come with all PGs are part of the kit and built into it. They are not like the various MGs like 00 and Sazabi that can slot-in a Bandai LED of your choice.
Any changes you make to the LED of a PG is at your own risk and depends on your level of skill working with such things.

The Unicorn is a unique case. In most PGs all you get is one LED for the head. Zeta has an LED beam saber, 00 Raiser has them in both the head and twin GN drives, which actually have a little spinning motor action going on like in the show.

Legs including the shins are from kampfer amazing, arms are from one of the Dom kits I believe, and I have no idea what the feet are from. The canon is the once from the builders parts set by the look of it.

How recent are they? If they're around the time that the Ground Gundam MG came out then I dont think the quality will be nearly as good as more modern stuff

To knowledge, all of them are pretty good. Z'Gok is the cheapest and has a Char version. AcGuy is the most expensive, but comes with the most accessories(a stand, effect parts, figures). Gogg seems to be the middle of the road kit. It just looks really nice.
I would go with AcGuy personally, just due to the stuff you get with it.

Glad you like the Guncannon and the Zaku Sniper. The RX-77D won a bronze prize at a smaller model competition some time ago. It's my best work thus far. The Zaku Sniper was on display during a hiatus year for that competition, so no formal judging occurred for it.
Sadly, I packed up my airbrushing workshop two years ago, haven't had space to set it back up since. I have about a dozen backlogged HGUC's waiting for me, along with a few ideas.

I did a lot of stuff today to rush this to this point. Normally it would have taken a couple days of test fitting casting and curing, but I got lucky.
This should give everyone a much better idea of the gimmicks I'm doing for my haunted grimoire.
The fact that the facial details show up this great in photos with the LED has me pretty proud of how well I planned this out.
