Nadesico is one of those few cases where the production crew came out and TOLD us "There won't be a sequel".
I don't remember how it happened. But basically at one stage news came out that the team told the media the Nadesico franchise is dead. No one was even expecting a sequel to begin with, so it was a surprise to be told that they thought about it but decided to can it.
