I don't think it would work without some decent modding. The armor pieces on the hg are made to fit around its own frame. Some areas on the kit either wouldn't be able to fit due to lack of space (like the hips and shins) or wouldn't have anything to connect to. It would be doable with some work and make for some nice maintenance dioramas though.
Maybe they run into a bare frame at some point coming up.

That assumes Bandai hadn't deliberately planned for it. I can imagine them deciding that the detailed internal frame get the cost too high so they made it an optional upgrade. If they made the detailed frame first as the original base then it would be possible that all the prior kits can snap onto it.

I don't know how well sourced the stuff in that pastebin is, so it could just be made up, but if the Build Burning was outselling the G-Reco it can't be that popular.

Well, let's see, one show was made when Gundam was actually airing new shows back to back and overstaying its welcome and the kits it did have - and it had a few in abundance - didn't sell, a second show aired in the same time frame and barely had any kits because it's the second Gundam show ever to be cancelled back when cancellations were still a thing you could do easily, Turn A did fuck all for ratings and barely had any designs that could be appealing as kits in the eyes of executives and model companies anyway, and AGE had its poor performance reflect similarly on its kits, with piles of them gathering dust and shops desperately slapping discount prices on them. Do you remember that picture of piles of Swordias, or Genoaces going a few hundred yen?
It's not that hard to be better than any of them in terms of model sales, even though I can't really speak for 00S2.

IBO has its frames which means bandai can reuse parts and cuts the costs of an overall kit. i dont think there will be a single kit that doesnt share parts with another. i kind of wish the way they had done it was that youd buy the frames and then buy parts additionally and build the ms yourself, but you'd probably spend less money that way and bandai wouldnt want that

Read further. Certain areas wouldn't have room if they corrected the frame. They were made to fit onto it in that specific way. If you suddenly added the full ball of the hip, or full crotch, or full shin parts the armor wouldn't fit around them due to the engineering on the armor parts. Not just that their wouldn't be connections, but that their wouldn't be enough room.
