I started watching Aquarion Genesis recently... I'm after 2 episodes and it's boring as fuck.
I don't like any of the characters, and the only thing I like is main mecha.
Like holy shit, a fucking madman animal main hero, another generic tsundere with brother complex, and this blonde prince dude thinking he's something... fuck them, fuck them all... When will this start to become good?
Mobile Suit Gundam was way more interesting after 1st episode, same goes with Macross, Votoms, Evangelion and some other mecha series...

new episode finally reveals what Shoko can do and finally lets her pilot Tsutomu's vector
Also, the biggest plot reveal of this episode isAkira was one out of a ton of other kids that Nesta took in "in case Subete failed", and that memory of Subete comforting Maia under the moonlight actually happened between Akira and Maia, with Sougon tampering everyone's memories to make Maia think Subete comforted her. There's some trauma there about Maia nearly getting killed too. The reason Akira wants to be savior so much is that he promised Maia that when they were kids but was forced to forgot, so for most of his life he's left with the feeling that he has to be a savior but has no idea why.
What the fuck is Akira supposed to be, with this in mind? It's legit looking like he really just somehow stumbled onto the plot at this point, but they were keeping him in Nesta as a back-up for Subete along with a ton of other kids

She treats Kagura much better in comparison, constantly begs the other characters to forgive him, and she defended him from bullets, for crying out loud! She never does this shit for Amata! The point is, you don't have to like Zessica to realize how unfair the whole thing was. The difference is because they wanted Amata to get her, but also to complete the Apollo and Silvia reincarnation thing, all of sudden Amata was Apollo too it's totally fine for them to go together and destiny is still happy. Which is them pulling out a BS plot twist so they can have their cake and eat it too.

I mean, in all honesty, if you've seen enough animu, you can already tell that Zessica wasn't going to "win" shit just by their character designs alone. The only time I can think of a character like her coming close is in Tenchi Muyo, and even that's debatable.
The issue with Mikoto is that she's ultimately just the prize at the end for Dogboy to win at the end. So instead of actually bothering to build up their relationship at all, every time they spend together has to be in the same awkward status it was when they first met. We know how Amata feels, and that's not going to change, SO we have to make sure that Mikoto has to skirt around their relationship every time. She's too shy and doesn't want the attention and there's no way that they could be together ,BUT at the same time, she's going to be angry if he spends time with anyone that isn't her and hates when he doesn't pay her any mind!
We've got to be at odds with Reverse of Dogboy too, so even though the guy has routinely beaten up her friends, and tries to rape her, we have to make sure that there's some odd vibe between the two so it puts a block between her and Amata.
The whole thing is just a lesson in frustration, and that's just on her end alone.
I mean, I'm a big sap, and I usually love watching that cheesy lovey-dovey shit, but by the end of the series, with all the hearts and what not, I just found myself wishing that I could even give one fuck of a shit.
I don't know man. The first Aquarion wasn't GREAT, and I was more interested in the machine than any of the characters, but EVOL seemed to embrace to sort of horseshit that made the first series interesting.
After Jun died, it's like someone's just sucked all of the fun out of the series. That's probably why the episode right after that is them stepping into fucking graves.

So they grew to become friends. Confide in each other and grew romantically.
