Usually, as shit happens in the 2nd half of the series, the secondary riders are delegated the comic-relief role and that kinda kills the credibility of the character. (i.e. in Kabuto, OOOs, Wizard)
But Chase flows into that role very organically, he and his unintentional robot jokes.

Wataru is a pretty boring (but cute!) protagonist and the show starts off very slowly but Kivas awesome special attacks and forms make up for it
we also get a pretty good supporting cast with Otoya and Jiro and IXA is easily one of my favorite secondaries in Rider
many people complain about the unnecessary romance subplots and while they are pretty lame they aren't as important or long as some people make it out to be

Saitama was a guy who dreamed of becoming a hero who beats everyone in one punch. After saving a kid from a monster he trains for 3 years and becomes able to do just that. There are a lot of other characters introduced that really make the thing interesting, but he slowly rises through the rankings as he beats up super strong monsters while no one believes he was actually the one doing it.

Fights are definitely the focus. Sometimes he flat out destroys a threat. Other times it focuses on the other heroes fighting. He tries to find someone to actually give him a challenge but no luck.
