***READ THE GUIDE***
For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

Anyone selling any gunpla?
>>13546780
Zeon sells, and the base GM design from the original series isn't the best looking thing in my opinion, other GM designs are good, just not that one. It's the flat crouch rather than the gundam crouch other GMs have.
>>13546055
never had a problem with mine, the new GM-III legs probobly weigh a little more than the original parts, especially with the paint but it never has any weight issues.

>>13547015
My favorite is Turn A, will I enjoy 00?
>>13547020
>>13547002
It really depends on how well you like other Gundam. The first season isn't bad, and is a pretty good divergence from the usual plot after the terribleness that was GSD. The second season is much less tightly written (with very evident executive meddling) and retreats to more standard Gundam tropes at the cost of a lot of character development, which is unfortunate.
The movie's pretty in line with other Gundam movies: less action that you might otherwise expect, more world-building and presentation of science-fiction concepts.
All-in-all, it's okay to not too bad. Then again, I genuinely think G-Reco is 9/10 and the best anime since at least Turn A, so invalid opinions all around, I suppose.
>>13547002
Definitely. But it's also a show that's best watched with an open mind and free of anyone else's opinions.
>>13547054
They're two completely different animals. 00 is more of a fast-paced thriller than the slice-of-life drama that is Turn A.
It also takes more after western sci-fi literature than any other entry in the franchise. Think the Foundation series, Enders Game and Childhoods End with robots.
Did 00 Qan[T] always have white feet covers?
Anyway, the proportions look nice and I hope Bandai gives us two-toned white and blue plastic like with the Exia.
>>13547128
on the top of the foot? Yeah. Didn't have such a big gray slot between the white and red, though. Color separation and new green parts should be fantastic, so I'm looking forward to it.
Hows the Duel MG? I have the Blitz one and I'm happy with that one, is the Duel as good as the Blitz? I'm scared of its AS armor. afraid it'll be crappy gimmick
>>13547020
War in the Pocket is literally the single best thing the Gundam franchise has to offer, so no.

I bought a RG Gundam Mk.II 1/144 for my 14 year old son. He has no experience with this, do you think he'll be able to do it? Are there any tutorials for this specific Gunpla that I can give him to use?
>>13547240
Yeah though RGs are harder than PGs
>>13547240
read the guide
>>13547240
Start him off with some HGs. Save the RG for later when he has some experience under his belt. He'll appreciate it much more that way.
>>13547244
I did read the guide, but I ordered this thing a few months ago for him. I wanted to ask your opinion about it and also to ask if there's any tutorials for this specific one.
>>13547240
>He has no experience with this, do you think he'll be able to do it?
He'd find the number of parts the RG has tedious and it might make him hate gunpla. Just get him an HG
>>13547240
> do you think he'll be able to do it?
Some kids can, though I personally would not start off someone with a RG; a HG, or even a non-scale 1/100 would probably be more suitable.
While the RG Mk II is the most stable of the RG's, it has a ton of very small pieces and the instructions are not as simple as easier kits such as an advanced grade or high grade.
>>13547258
>tutorials for this specific one.
Building a RG is the same as any other gunpla, and any more advanced techniques are probably not a good idea for a 14 year old, regardless of his skill.
Any tips?

>>13547269
1) use a q-tip to align and press down on decals/stickers
2) clean up your panel lines. If you insist on using a marker (and I would not, as panel washing is just as easy and looks far better), make sure you go over the bits again with a bit of thinner on a q-tip. There's bad spots on the inside of the left arm, on the face, and on the front of the legs and knees.
3) clean up those nubs
4) fingerprints on the plastic are very obvious; cleaning them and applying a top coat will preserve it much better.

>>13547282
It is, but that's the old HG RX-78-2. There's been a very recent new release, which has some issues (different proportions), but with superior engineering:
http://www.amazon.com/Bandai-Hobby-RX-78-2-Gundam-Revive/dp/B00WW4F8YA/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1448423246&sr=1-1-fkmr0&keywords=RX-78-2+HG+revive
If you prefer a less anime-accurate version, the 30th anniversary HG is also good:

Any recommendations that don't require sharp objects to build it? He suffers from an onset of cerebral palsy so that has me worried
>>13547323
Can he use nail clippers?
>>13547323
A sprue cutter and sandpaper or metal files will work ok. Hobby nippers shouldn't be particularly sharp, just keep him away from x-acto hobby knives.
>>13547240
Yes, he will love it. He will learn from reading the manual, don't worry.
>>13547323
>don't require sharp objects to build it?
Some Bandai kits have pieces that snap off the sprue and don't require cutting implements, but no Gundam plastic model does.
The LBX line from Bandai is quite simplistic compared to most Gundam kits, but are engineered to allow for pieces to snap off:

Mk.II RG father here
I just bought two HGs for my son, but is there a translated manual for the Mk.II RG?
>>13547387
It's all in pictures, you don't need to be able to read anything
>>13547387
> translated
No. Almost no manuals for any kit are translated or will ever be translated, since it's usually fairly obvious what is going on just by the pictures. That's also why a RG is not a good place to start for a 14 year old, as they usually have some interesting/ingenious engineering going on.

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to this and just built the RG RX-78 30th anniversary kit, the HG victory two kit and I have Char's RG Zaku on order. What I was wondering was what Kits are your favorites or you just had lots of fun building?

I am the original guy that Richigo. We are talking about the MKII MG. The Grey parts are molded in a purple grey and orange yellow. Unless this amazon seller is selling a boot leg, bandai fucked up.

They're the old ass 1/100 HG kits, which look like this in less capable hands.
You actually need two sets for the Assault Buster because each mode was sold separately (and now I've got a vanilla V2 to do whatever I want but that's been sitting on my desk for like 3 years)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lD6HnluQQnk
>>13548890
they're 1/100 HG kits from 1993, floppy partsformers that need some paint but were the only choice for a good looking V2 until the HGUC and MG came out. the wings are from the 1/144 NG V2 kit from the same time, smaller than the P-Bandai wing set but much cheaper and will fit in both the old and new kits.

Yupp, since Bandai can't be assed to make one DM ripped of either the RG or the PG or both to make one and make it compatible with the SEED backpacks. Or atleast the DM ones, haven't built the DM strike yet but I assume it has the same backpack connector as the bandai SEED MGs, the IWSP might look good on the Skygrasper
>>13550231
it's so pathetic that you do this
>>13550381
Here is your (you)
so i bought a thing with wings today.
>>13550396
Will it be compatible with the akatsuki pack?
>>13551021
Paint it titan colors
>>13551021
Good.
Now throw it into the fire and buy an Eagle.
>>13551021
Better paint it up in Schwarze colors.

kill yourself
STarted work on an idea I had for a haunted Grimoire. Removed part of the chest today, going to reshape it and add the detail work, going to remove the face section for the head tomorrow and refine that before working on the first of the scratch built pieces.
I'm going to run LEDs through the kit, too, so I've started mapping and cutting channels for them.
Have some gore.
>>13551410
What makes it haunted? Are you gonna bind a ghost to it?
>>13551421
It's going to have a set of ghost posession style effects I'm making coming out of the damaged areas that will be lit with the LEDs, and will be suspended over a creepy base kind of like a floating puppet. There's going to be a sort of translucent ghost skull coming out slightly from the blown in head unit.

Neat, hope it goes well anon.
>>13551446
Thanks, I probably won't be done with it until after christmas, but I'll post some WIP shots along the way.
Does it bother anyone that the shitposter created this thread? Also Happy Thanksgiving!
Is it normal for the HG stands to be so finnicky? I screw in the screws like I'm supposed to, but the gundam still slides around and rotates unless it's positioned perfectly
Best FAG
>>13551514
are the screws tight? did you use the right screws for the right holes?

she'd be best if she came with more than one expression
>>13551607
She's the best because of her dull robot expression.
>>13551607
Stiletto came with three, Materia has at least two, Architect is sure to have more than one.
>>13551172
but i already have an Eagle.
>>13551202

Anyone here use these before, by the way? I hear they're really good for making beam sabers too.

>buy HG FA-78 after getting into TB manga
>parts and frames are smashed up right out of the box
I need to fix a broken peg on my HG Bearguy . Should I get the fine or the normal Tamiya drill bit set?
What does shitposter-kun gain from doing this?
