I was just gonna go with 'Phonic Gain increases as damage is taken', and when full, X Drive can be activated for all Gear characters, which is a super state ala X Factor in MvC. Ignite would be for the Unlimited character bosses in the Tower of Babel mode
Also, non-gear characters get a bonus system to make up for no X Drive, like Ver being able to make the Nephilim grow by feeding it relics midfight, or Phara's Swordbreaker meter growing every time she parrys an attack

You're not writing your own code, you're using someone else's program, and those programs aren't going to support direct modification. What those programs will do, if they support programming at all, is hooks for scripting, and the present scripting language of choice is Python.
The other language of use to people in science is FORTRAN. No fucking joke, the language is optimised to hell and has extensive libraries for scientific use. When I had an internship at Los Alamos, the people who did the jobs said to my face that a big plus for getting the job was that I knew FORTRAN.

Oh, I love MATLAB
For managing scientific data or modeling, it is a great tool. It's intuitive, flexible and relatively simple to use with a growing community that offers easy support.
I have a lot of fun using MATLAB for stuff like aproximating data to a known distributon when doing probabilistic modeling, since the hardest part of the job is mathematical.
But for programming a game, not really. It is pretty much a calculator, if you know what you want and the pre-programmed operations necessary to get it, it is good enough, but it tends to run slower than something made from scratch.

Simple.
Using Kanade's Zesshou at a sufficiently high enough phonic gain level can insta-kill an enemy.
But the backlash will always kill her regardless of phonic gain level.
We can put in a time delay before she dies or her hp drains at a certain rate after using the Zesshou.

I liked the idea behind the IGNITE arrangements but it made every battle song suffer from the same problem as DMJii's songs in G - they had to write one set of lyrics that worked for two different pieces of music/two different pieces of music that worked with the same set of lyrics, which lowered the quality of the songs (in general). Not saying I didn't like GX's songs, I rather did, but they didn't reach their full potential for the same reason as DMJii's G battle songs.

Good point, but Dainsleif/Forced berserk mode was set up to be something evil and damaging, not a random powerup with 0 side effects.

Maria went berserk, and team Bayonet were given nightmares that left an impact on them for quite some time.
Also the side effect of peer pressure that once one of them ignites there's gonna be a second ignition, and a third, etc because no-one wants to let the team down because they're clashing by wearing a white outfit.
But seriously, episode 7 was so packed with stuff going on, did we even see why Maria went berserk? Hell, that's more than Shirabe and Kirika got, who just ignited and made the other three look like chumps. I'll give Hibiki a pass because she spent two seasons dealing with berserk.
As a final musing, the Chateau fight was weird and in retrospect almost feels more like what Maria would've dealt with in a dainsleif-induced bad trip.

Tthey could stand to work on tactical combat. As it stands the geahs fighting styles are all some variation on "apply beating, repeat as needed". Have S4's training (there WILL be actual training, right?) be about working on tag-teaming, covering fire, hit-and-run, that kind of thing. Fight smarter, not harder.
And for crying out loud, mix up who fights alongside who.

How do you even write so that characters can appear for two seasons and after their second season they're LESS interesting or dynamic than before?
