In addition, their Fafner cores were already mutating to preserve their core essence, but not necessarily their bodies. If anything, Seri is pretty much a Human Festum with assimilation control issues outside of the cockpit at this point. I'd like to say she's a walking mass of crystals in the form of Seri's old body, but the testing they've undergone doesn't support that part.

After rewatching Episode 7 I'm convinced that Seri's only alive because of the Mir's power. When the cockpit gets crushed blood literally squrts out of it and they show inside the cockpit and she looks almost certainly dead. When Orihime ordered her to get up Orihime's eyes were glowing like a Festum's and she said it after the crystalization happened. Right when she woke up from the crystalization Seri said "Why am I alive right now"?
Not to mention that at the start of the very same episode is when Yumiko was also brought back to life.

Predictions for next episode?
The island will start heading towards Canon's coordinates where the two groups will eventually meet up. Also now that we know the Einherjar system can be controlled through the crossing like it was with Mimika this past episode, they will install it onto the Mark Dreizehn as well and Canon will be able to control it from the Gordian crystals. From there they should be able to make an army of Fafners, (remember the massive surplus of Fafner cores that appeared in episode 3?) all piloted by dead pilots from the Crossing each with their own unique SDP. (Will probably only reach this point for the final battle)

Perseus company got much more limited form of communication, Festum coming from all directions, Diablo that turns you into shishkebab with pinpoint accuracy and later on being human shields to protect refugee convoys.
They probably didn't even get to scramble their planes since we didn't see any jets during the Srinagar battle with giant worms popping from underground in their airfields.

Jezus christ this episode was fucking hype as hell. Kazuki and Soushi are close to assimilation, Ai gets shot and Mitsuhiro is getting mind fucked. Everyone is about to die while they ware so close to the island, the bad guys seemed to be winning for a seccond and then Kurisu is back!
I like how in just 24 minutes they managed to set all the pieces up for the finale. The exodus group and the island are about to meet up, almost all the azazels are here, the Humans are there.... fuck we still have plenty of episode left for this to conclude.
