I can only feel pity for him because he is a child soldier. However, there really isn't much depth to him as a character. He feels nothing ans as a viewer, a feel nothing towards him.
Not really. He had it rough as a kid and is a child soldier so that isn't great for him. Mikazuki is pretty cool. I dunno if people would find him sympathetic on an emotional level, but he's likable in every scene where he isn't killing people outside of a mobile suit or choking people for hurting his friends (although that's totally understandable).

He's a very sympathetic and pitiable character. He's very much a child in that he's not able to make his own decisions and has to follow an authority figure in Orga, yet he doesn't get have a real childhood. It has shown that violence and killing has become an instinct for him through his attack on not!Garma when he almost ran over Biscuit's sisters and through his reactions in his fights. Is it even possible for him to use other methods to solve problems at this point? To talk it out? I don't think he'd be able to live that peaceful farmer life he wants if he ever had the chance.
