Mega's working well so far, so I'm sticking with that for now. I'll upload some more raws and that random mess of subbed eps from a little while back after I finish upping the rest of the LD version of LoGH

Bumpin' for support.

I was actually wondering when/if you were going to dump that new set of subbed episodes on the Mega.

Also, looking through the contents of the subbed stuff, and also because a movie (and later manga) character showed up in episode 128, which in turn, will have them recapping the movie in the next ep, I noticed that you also seem to be missing movie 1, along with movie 5.

I got a polite email about it, I have no idea what they're going to do if anything. I'll start a few accounts and start spreading my stuff out over the next few weeks.

It's a real shame that Sgt. Frog gets know love in the west. Funimation has abandoned it and there are barely any real fansubbers left out there, much less any that will touch it.
>>
Thanks but I need Exiled-Destiny's softsubbed version of Keroro Gunsou
>>
>>12007193
>Funimation has abandoned it

They never liked it to begin with it after the TV deal offers didn't go through they were trying their best to sabotage it and not release anymore since it wasn't bringing any profit. Which is a shame since Sgt. Frog was one of the high selling manga titles in the US during the anime/manga boom in the early 00's back when TokyoPop was the only company that sold manga in the correct format.

This chapter is kind of odd. It's like it ignored all Christmas chapters aside from the original one. Then again, I guess we've had some really odd time jumps in the last few chapters.
>>
>>12007193
If they do one more set of episodes, placing it at the end of the Japanese season 2 and capping off a trilogy of the best episodes in the entire anime, that would be a good place to end it. I still have about a year of hope that'll happen, at the very least. Funi never said on record that they were done with it, like, say, their dub of Detective Conan.

Things may seem bad, but not as bad as you think. Between the new (well, semi-new) translated chapters, the relicense of the manga (digital-only, but it's a start), the new batch of 33 subbed episodes of the original anime that just came up recently, that Dorkly just uploaded, and the fact that a new anime is on the way, which could possibly give Sgt. Frog awareness a sizable kick in the pants, it could be a whole lot worse.

>>12007212
Yeah, that's a problem with Keroro fansubbers at this point. Aside from Doremi since ep 155, anyone still releasing anything seem to be stuck in that mid-late '00s "What is a .MKV" mode. along with the semi-common use of honorifics, despite there being better ways to translate them. Still, beggars can't be choosers, at least they did what they did in the first place.

>>12007234
I've heard that said before, even in other places, but if that's so, then why did they even produce such a hilarious, well-acted, well cast, and generally great all-around dub (aside from script changes in some earlier episodes), and why did they even continue beyond episode 52 if the TV deal went south and it wasn't doing too well for them?

Viz should really do omnibus reprints of the manga at some point soon. It could still do nicely for itself and bring in new fans. It's not like it's aged any bit, aside from maybe the art in the first 2 volumes, nor is the premise a hard sell, even nowadays.

>and why did they even continue beyond episode 52 if the TV deal went south and it wasn't doing too well for them?
I'm pretty sure those episodes were dubbed all at once. Suddenly stopping in the middle of the second season is a strong indication to me that they were just releasing leftovers.
>>
>>12007736
>then why did they even produce such a hilarious, well-acted, well cast, and generally great all-around dub
I wouldn't go as far to say this. It was a Shin-chan esque dub that didn't work and wasn't particularly funny and I wouldn't say well cast since Funi uses the same VAs in every dub they produce. As far as they comedy dubs go this was pretty hackneyed and not nearly as good as their PSG and Space Dandy dubs.

> and why did they even continue beyond episode 52 if the TV deal went south and it wasn't doing too well for them?

Funi held the license and continue to get seasons based on how well they performed they did the same thing with Conan knowing that sets weren't doing well and even dubbed a few movies as a final straw to motivate them to continue doing the show but those sold poorly so they finally shelved the license. Everything outside the first season sold poorly and that was mainly due to the anticipation from their rescue through ADV but it was obvious that they really didn't want it since sales weren't great and they couldn't gain any profit from it if it wasn't on TV.
>>
>>12007855
>It was a Shin-chan esque dub
That would imply they threw out most or all of the script to whatever suits them. Hell, in the third season of that dub, it was to an extent that body language, mouth flaps and such on screen didn't even match up to the dialogue.

I won't deny at all it's had some bumps earlier on-- for example I don't like the way they did episode 34B. But the Keroro dub was in general far straighter, especially in the latter half of "season 2" (27-51) and onward, only really making some of the humor more Anglo-palatable, amplifying the characters/ their traits up to eleven, and streamlining the dialogue to cut down on things like repetition, so it sounds more natural, kind of like a western made show, and not merely a translation of a Japanese product. The last one is Funi's MO.

>wasn't particularly funny
Opinions. Family and friends I introduced this to couldn't get enough, and some even got a little sad after finishing the last disc.

They did. Like the episode where Natsumi becomes an adult, the episode where the Narrator quits and they hired a new one half way and even the characters are changed to better suit the "edgier" script. They did tone it down due to fan complaint (Anglo commenting that she stopped speaking in Spanish because fans hated it) but it was far from being faithful. While the original manga in the beginning was raunchy filled with more crude humor and fanservice the anime was strictly for kids and is much cleaner so the Funi dub being more cynical and vulgar because they failed to push the show on a network felt very Shin-chan esque.

>Opinions. Family and friends I introduced this to couldn't get enough, and some even got a little sad after finishing the last disc.

>Like the episode where Natsumi becomes an adult
If you mean the gadget the frogs made during the comedy contest in the first beach episode, the joke in the original Japanese was that it made Natsumi switch to different dialects, throwing off the sync with her partner finally ending in what the Japanese would call an "American Joke", after the device malfunctions, which is why you only see Melody Honey laughing at said joke. What else could they have done for that, honestly?

There can never be a 1:1 translation of the original Keroro anime in any language. It's basically Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei-lite in how much of the humor depends on elements unique to the Japanese language, along with cultural references. Even when watching the official subs on the DVDs (which at least attempts to explain puns) or Doremi's translations, you miss nearly half the show.

(continued)
>>
>>12008644
>>12014664

I did not mind the 'aged-up' script from what would be "G rated" to what would be "PG rated", because

a) In that process the dub seemed to loop right back around to making it more like the manga, dialogue wise.

b) the Keroro anime was still always more risque than your average kid's show, from a western point of view. There are things like pic related in the very first episode, another early one where Aki gets age-ray gunned and ends up at Natsumi/Fuyuki's school, the aforementioned 1st beach episode itself, episode 30B and it's entire premise being that Momoka wants a hotter body to make Fuyuki notice her with (fun fact: in addition to some scenes getting cut from other foreign dubs of the show on TV, just because of that second half, the whole thing was outright skipped in some places), some parts of episode 38, and a lot of other moments spread out throughout the show that doesn't immediately come to mind.

>but it was far from being faithful
Once again, maybe in some of the earlier episodes, considering that all of your examples are before even episode 26. Hell, I even uploaded some dual audio episodes a while ago (links in the pastebin) partly for people to compare the dub to the subs, just to prove that point. It's especially apparent in the Powered Natsumi episode (38).

First movie was okay I guess, it had some fun/funny moments, like the one day everyone was kinda-sorta but not really Newtypes, huge Keroro trying to tiptoe through the streets, trying not to cause any collateral damage, everyone playing hot potato with the key, and the Dendrobium thing Giroro had actually getting some use. Felt like an extended episode of the series rather than a movie, though.

The only really good Keroro movie is number 3 (and the KeroZero short, but that's not full length).

Movies 1-3 are a trilogy too, with some minor ties between them, while 4 and 5 are completely standalone.

I want to say she made a cameo appearance somewhere in the manga because Yoshizaki tends to do shoutouts to his past work on occasion in the manga, but I don't exactly know where to begin to look and when.

There was episode 89A of the anime, though, which was a blatant reference, though, as the story is about Giroro being split into seven of himself with different personalities.

It's not exactly Nana herself, but there's a two chapter story in the manga with tons of Imagawa characters reimagined as ninjas hidden in the modern world. The seven Nanas are the one that actually get a lot of focus and interact with the main cast.

They also make a few cameos later, like in the "Keroro of many nations" chapter.

The anime never adapted that story though, and even removed Nana's later cameos (in the adaptation of that Keroro story, the Nana ninja were replaced by Dororo).

In that episode, the place where Saburo, Natsumi and the white suit Giroro meet is actually the cherry tree that's very important in Seven of Seven's story.

I dug the way Alisa's first appearance was done in the anime, especially with these wide/letterboxed shots, helping to make an atmosphere that makes her seem weird/creepy, which is what she was in the original chapter.

I wonder why they changed the entire last part of it, though. It now looks a bit out of place to a non-manga reader when Nebula gets shook up when he sees Mois, as they omitted the explanation of what he is as a result. Maybe they just wanted to have the others like Natsumi and Saburo play a bigger part in the episode, and/or they thought what happened in the anime would make for better television, or something.
>>
>>
>>12099290
The last part of the chapter with Nebula's backstory is thrown into a later anime only episode, the one with some snow monster attacking the city during Christmas.

18" Keroro plush I ordered came in today. When I finally get shelves for all the animango shit I bought (because the spots under the TV are overfilling like crazy, now) I plan to have this adorn the Keroro section.

As with most recently produced merchandise, it carries the branding of the flash anime, as can be seen in the pic.

I just saw this what's being seeded now?
Is it Keroro full show or something?
>>
>>12146029
Yup, the torrent's (nearly) the whole of the anime when you combine subs with raws. You'd really rather use the MEGA folder linked to in OP, though, as it has everything the torrent has and far more subbed eps and raws, and the torrent is merely still kicking because some people still wanted to use it, apparently.

it because Dorkly dump all those to MEGA instead of torrent due to various reason.

Hm... Last time, we got many short8 page chapters and then got the flash anime, which only could adapt well those chapters.

Now, it seems that we're getting full chapters more often, but it seems like most of them are randomly focused on stories that explicitly take place fairly early - or stories that could easily take place earlier on, like with misunderstandings about culture and such.

I guess this suggests that the next animations project might be another reboot from the start, but using these stories rather than just repeating the first anime? I wonder if they'll try to insert New Keroro early on too...

That's a logical guess. It's nearing a half decade, and it's not a "continuing story" in the usual manga sense, at least, so wiping the slate clean would be all the more easier, and an audience benefit.

btw, wasn't the original anime, in Sunrise's official terms, not 'cancelled' or 'finished', but '(indefinitely) postponed' or something to that effect? I would be disappointed if it just suddenly came back using the same old style.

Don't know if anyone will care, but just a heads up: I plan to rename the files to conform with common scanlation naming format, along with dates, in preparation to (probably) eventually get these up on manga reader sites, because not enough people know about the matter of these monthly semi-new chapter releases, and all of the Keroro manga scans in general has disappeared from most places.

The "group name" I'll choose is [Keron Force], or [K-F] for short, because even though it's just an alternate translation for ケロン軍 (Keron Army) that Tokyopop used in their releases of the manga, it just fucking sounds cool.

And now a question to anyone: Other than Batoto, what are the most commonly used reader sites out there, or at least the top 3 ones you guys use?

first anime, eh?

didn't give any expectation for the first time as it can be worst, not to mention lousy local language dub shits. anyway that was the preview, ads or some sort as it appears while watching tv shows & i don't give any shits for it at all.

when it show in animax, it was not that worst as expected. i could say lousy local language dubs makes animation a shit when they're suppose to be awesome.

new style or not it still acceptable. i like the new style due to possible panty shot of Natsumi. you know... Yoshizaki's work.
i used to the old style as well, as it has the charm of itself without that, & don't forget the awesomeness of the VA that they able to slap into.
sticking to the manga version animation was much more better, however... you know, Yoshizaki's work.

btw someone do have the Keroro flash's Sketch of Natsumi in school uniform or something?

Nah, not really. Funimation's original acquisition from ADV were episodes 1-51 only, meaning they actually had to go get 52 through 78 directly from Sunrise.
