Come on, I understand not sperging out over DFW but there's a reason it's number 1 on that list.

I've only read 15 of those... Turns out you can't compose a list of 100 best works of literature in one list because there are a bunch of other texts that could be here in replace of others.
Look how many repeating authors are on there. This may as well be a list of 50 books, of which a very select few are canonical (i.e.; Paradise Lost, Ulysses, Hamlet) with the others being all author selects. Shakespeare is only in here once? Seriously? Look at some of the other choices. Right, this society can't comprehend archaic texts any longer.
doing this made me realize how little I've read. baka.
>>7862687
how have you not read hamlet? Not an insult, just genuinely curious
>>7862765
I agree with the multiple authors point, next year's list should have a cap of 2 novels per 1 author. I cringe thinking of all the good books that could be on that list but instead we have like 5 or 6 pieces of Faulkner trash.

I dunno. I think in highschool lit we had a choice between Macbeth and Hamlet and the class chose Macbeth. Never got around to reading Hamlet on my own.

Just started the heavy stuff at university, so that list ain't changing much during the coming months.
Honestly we need a new list, one without Infinite meme at #1

I don't know, it depends a lot on where you're from and what kind of literary education you received. I read a lot but there's a lot of anglo shit in this chart that I don't really care about because I have more important works to read.
Currently reading Gravity's Rainbow. All the others are on my backlog.
I don't believe that many people think Ulysses is legit their favorite top 3 books. Joyce is a fucking hack that hides behind fluffing up a two word sentence into 20. Only a pretentious troll thinks it's good writing.

/lit/ in a nutshell

>I don't like it so everyone must be pretending
There are so many intelligent people who say it's their favorite or one of the best books ever (Nabokov, Bloom, Stephen Fry), you think they're all pretentious? Just read more.
This is the same kind of idiocy that thinks people can't genuinely enjoy Schönberg etc., you're just not experienced enough.
>>7863612
>i am dumb, others must be too
>>7863614
uh huh. sure thing buddy.
dr david duke hates negros. along with a number of other intelligent people who also say it's one of their least favorite races. you think they're all racist? just redpill more.
also, learn to read. i said i don't believe that many people think Ulysses is their top three books. i'm talking about /lit/ users. fucking doofus. learn to post on a chan without shitposting
