I have a lot of bad memories, and a lot of scars. But if I was afraid of my past, I would be a violent, and angry person. I'd rather share my history, and demonstrate the lessons I've learned. And I promise, for each scar I sustained, I became that much better a person. That one there was a mistake. I was being stupid, and foolhardy. I was cooking steak on the grill, and decided to flip the meat with my hands. On the very last steak, I bumped my hand off the hot metal, and burned myself badly. From now on, I'm flipping with a spatula.
The one on my knuckle, which has faded, is from a graze I got from my own figernail. It was self harm I guess, but I was gripping my hand to stop myself from acting in violence, and my nail cut into me. Simply from where it was positioned, the wound got infected, and I ended up on a two week course of antibiotics. I don't grip so tight anymore, I'm I'm very careful not to harm myself.
The one I'm posting now, was from my first suicide attempt. Ironically, if I was browsing 4chan at the time, it would have been vertical, not horizontal, and I wouldn't be here. I slid a kitchen knife across my wrist, and just before I got to the vein, I chickened out. I think that's really when I realised I didn't *want* to die per-say, but I didn't really want to be alive either. It took another 4 suicide attempts before I got that into my head, and now I'm very much looking forward to proving all the doctors wrong.
There's no reason to fear the past. Just make sure we learn from it.
