Oh, ouch. My parents kept doing that for the longest time too. Felt like they included "son" in every other sentence.
It took a while to get them around it, but they've been using only gender-neutral terms of endearment for over a month now.
I don't know what'll work for yours, but I think the look of disappointment I had, and giving them a bunch of judgment-free trans reading, mostly broke them of the habit.
