If there are "biological males" (humans born with males genitalias) knowing that they ARE females, how can gender be "a social construct" ?
A trans friend educated me on transgenderism.
It confirmed to me that gender is something absolute, innate, and ingrained deep into individuals, while sometimes not being related to biological sex.

People often conflate the terms 'transgender' and 'transexual.'
The long and short of it is:
Gender roles are a social construct loosely based on natural biology and instinctual behavioral patterns, ie. females being more inclined towards child-rearing on average. As society has evolved, gender roles have likewise progressed to the point that many of their associations are only tangentially related to biology at best.
Gender is not a social construct, but is based on sex and is more or less synonomous. The only real exception are trannies, who, despite being stuck in their birth sex forever with current medical science, may eventually reach a point where they can be socially accepted as the opposite gender.
Gender: Man, Woman
Sex: Male, Female

transgender is an umbrella term. i believe that crossdressers can be considered transgender. but that does not mean they hate their body, want to get an operation, yadda yadda
