Any recommendations on finishing my project/slug-blaster 870? Things I still need to address.......
1) A way to raise the cheekweld, that does not interfere with the reciprocating stock.
2) Lowest-possible-profile picatinny Iron sights. I didn't think these would be hard to find. I was wrong. (was hoping for a way to add picatinny 3-dot / simple pistol sights, but that's not a thing I guess....)
3) A way to make the LER-Scope work, with said ironsights. Preferably without using a quick-detach or related method. I'd like to use both/either. Not necessarily cowitness (obviously), but co-usefullness without user-intervention.
4. Sling and sling mount. Not a big deal, but i'd love to hear what you use / what you like.
....Oh, and i'm not changing the foregrip. Handmade/walnut, and I love it.

Get a cheek riser, they are under $20 for synthetic fabric.
You may have to have something made. I needed elevated Picatinny mounted beads once and had to make them.
You don't have a lot of options but maybe a McCann would do something for you.

>Knoxx spring loaded stock that slaps your cheek with every shot and belongs in the garbage
>not even a Monte Carlo design for proper scope height
>wants a cheek riser that doesn't absorb recoil
>wants ironsights that don't block a scope
>a scope that's on ultra-low rings already
>my face when all these things that don't work for a reason
Anon...
Ditch the Knoxx garbage, get a Monte Carlo slug stock or the Magpul if you want plastic fantastic tacticool, and put some 45 degree iron sights on it if you absolutely positively need iron sights that don't involve moving the scope.

That's what i was initially thinking.
Then I put my 45 degree angled iron sights on it.
Then I realized how idiotic of an idea it was.
Naw dude, 3" slugs kick a little too hard to handle at 45 degrees.

as for the 20$ nylon riser, that's what i'm looking to avoid...... as it wouldn't work with the knoxx stock.
I'm thinking attach something off the back/but plate?...and not 'the middle' of the stock? .....as the buttplate doesn't move/reciprocate.....

just had the rings laying around. I'd obviously need new / see-through rings. . . or some sort of see through base. . .

Are you going to be using your backup irons to plink? Zero with a box of five and then leave them alone until an emergency.
It's either that or do AR15 flip up sights and put your scope in a quick detach mount.
I'm just one of those guys that wonders why people shooting slug guns insist on iron sights beyond pic related.

If they made those on picatinny rear / front attachments, i'd buy em. But the best I can find is 2/3 height A2 ghost rings. Or like 300$ HK diopter irons......

Figure out a way to put a giant stinking front sight into the bead and you're in business.
White-tail hunting in foggy/rainy/tempramental weather. If it's not raining/too foggy, awesome; I'll use the scope.
....but when I throw the gun up, to take a shot at the deer walking between a tiny little window of brush, and i've got 1.5 seconds to assess, safety off, aim, and then realize that my scope has fogged over.....
i'd like to avoid tiddling with my irons......
Maybe i'll make my own ACOG-Esque irons on 1" tube rings....throw it on the scope.....

This looks tall enough that it just might work with the XS backup sight in the rear.

No tiddling?
Then man up and take the 45 degree ironsight shot and deal with the recoil. Even a see through scope ring will need tiddling to remove the cheek riser so your eye goes low enough to use irons.
There's no free lunch.
I highly doubt you want to do the ACOG iron sight gimmick, since they're basically pistol sights drifted onto a scope ring. Plus you'd have to hover your cheek above the stock to go that high. It's almost point shooting, and meant for emergency shots at pistol distances.
Also treat your scopes with cat crap so they don't fog, assuming they're decent $130 scopes with nitrogen or other dry gas purging that holds up.
