There's nothing supernatural about a werewolf. You can kill it with any firearm designed to bring down medium-sized game. You have to be quick, though, so an auto-loading action is recommended. In heavily wooded areas, they can be on top of you before you know it. Also it's wise to bring a buddy (more if you can) to watch each others' backs. It's not advised to go hunting after dark, but if you do, pack plenty of light sources that will last you through the night.

Here's what I'm thinking, the town has a werewolf problem, so they hire a band of pirates (that could be where the ship comes from) to help deal with it. The pirates aren't buying it at first, but another wolf attack changes their minds. The problem with Terrasques is that they're built specifically to be unkillable in the game rules.
They have obscene armor bascically equivalent to a 40k tank, absurd regen, even more absurd regen if they flee and burrow in the ground, and they can ressurect themselves even if you do manage to kill it. The spell "Wish", which is literally intended for retconning events in your campaign, is the only way to kill a Terrasque for good by the game's core rules for a conventional combat situation.
The terrasque is the thing you throw at a party when you're sick of their munchkin shit and want to see them not solve something by punching it for once. It's intended to be only killable by plot fiat.

That's the intent. It's supposed to make the players go get help or do something creative rather than just roll initiative.
Most stories I hear end in use of artillery or air strikes, since it's not THAT impossible to kill, it's just impractical for PCs to do it alone.
Terrasques aren't so much monsters as plot devices.
