So I'm moving to a big city and feel like the habbening is coming. I'm fucked. Also I think I'm buying a 1-4x nightforce for my next build. Discuss.

Whatever you need to say to feel better about that buyer's remorse, bruv.
Still waiting on buffer, barrel, CH, trigger and trigger guard. Everything but the barrel is in the mail and that's gonna be an additional 6 weeks or so. Then another few for SBR papers and suppressor to get out of ATF prison. 25" OAL tho without the suppressor and should be breddy light.

Looks good but replace that stupid stock.
What optic is that?
Gucci BCG.
Does anyone know if there is a large collection/database of ballistics tests and results for different ammo out of different barrel lengths?
Also I'm seriously considering swapping my 10.5" barrel for a 14.5"+Pinned muzzle device and turning the pistol into a rifle.
Any suggestions for a 1.5" muzzle device that has good comp/brake characteristics with a little bit of flash reduction? Also I don't want too much blast to the shooter, I flinch like a bitch already.
Thanks.
>>30560660
Not sure, but maybe levang linear comp
>>30560610

>>30560713
I don't think it is ugly, just more of a space gun aesthetic.
Certainly better than Anderson, PSA, Bushmaster, or Spikes.
>>30560675
Noted. There are so many fucking muzzle devices out there.
>>30560711
I'm poor so I'm going with a $100 barrel I found.
Does anyone know if you have to weld the muzzle device as well to be legal on a 14.5"
Or can you just pin it?
>>30560753
top kek thats rich. the national guard website has pics of soldiers with SCARs which is some complete bullshit
>>30560762
you're supposed to pin AND weld it
Part 1/3
If you need a gun for home defense/and or dangerous happenings, your best bet is an AR15.
Let’s talk about why the AR15 is the BEST option for a SHTF scenario.
The AR15 is the weapon of choice for the US Military and most, if not all US Police forces.
The ammunition (5.56/.223) is extremely common with Every US community, USMIL/POLICE included, and is an accurate, hard hitting round. It is also light, and inexpensive.
The AR15 itself is a truly remarkable design, and is utterly reliable if manufactured correctly. The famed “AR15 is unreliable” saying goes as far back to Vietnam, where the US government attempted to use incorrect powder in early M193 ammunition. This is very wrong, and lead to early M16s not working properly. If the Government had followed the suggested power recommendation, the reputation never would have materialized.
Let’s talk a bit about the AR15s obvious competitor, the AK. The Russians designed a very nice rifle with the AK47, and further improved it into the AKM. But you have to understand that Russia is not allowed to export AKMs to the US anymore, and modern AKs for sale in the US are either Eastern European parts kits (of dubious quality) or brand new US made AKs (of EXTREMLY dubious quality).
Not to mention the fact that the AK is no more reliable than the AR15 in the first place, and its ammunition, the 7.62x39 is a rather anemic cartridge past 300 yards, and has the ballistics of a bowling ball. The AK and its Ammunition is also not used by any sizable US Police Forces, and almost all 7.62x39 ammunition is manufactured overseas, much of it IN RUSSIA, you can see issues with the availability of spare parts and ammunition in a crisis. 5.45 is a good round, but is also rare. INTERNET ORDERS DURING SHTF AREN'T HAPPENING.
I am not suggesting the AK is a bad platform, merely that it is not the best choice for a “Life and Liberty” gun.
Now let's talk about how to actually get an AR15.

>>30560774
Part 2/3
It is highly advisable that you BUILD your AR15, as you save quite a bit of money doing this, and you get to tailor the rifle to your preferences from the beginning.
There are 3 forms of common AR15 builds that you can start with, keep in mind, once you get familiar with the platform, you’ll learn of more, but these require no tinkering to make work.
16” Mid Length, 20” Rifle Length, and 14.5 Carbine Length.
16” Mid Length is what I recommend to those getting a new AR, as it is the minimum legal barrel length to keep your AR considered a rifle, and not a “pistol”(thus allowing you to have a stock without NFA paperwork)
This is a soft shooting and well balanced combination, and is utterly reliable. “Mid Length” refers to the gas system length, with many prebuilt ARs, 16” rifles will simply have a Carbine Length gas system, which is outdated, and increased felt recoil/parts wear.
Here are some good brands to look at when BUILDING an AR. I may leave out some, but any listed here will be QUALITY.
>PSA, BCM, Daniel Defense, Noveske, Midwest Industries, Aero, KAC, LMT, Rainer Arms, and VLTOR
PSA and BCM are considered the best for new shooters because of their milspec quality and affordable price points while providing excellent QC and parts quality.
You should avoid Red Barn, Radical Firearms, and PSA PTAC.
In a Mid Length Rifle, you’ll want a Carbine Buffer.
I recommend new shooters “Build” a rifle by ordering a lower of their choice, and a complete upper. This will eliminate the chance of (you) fucking up a rifle on assembly. Some Complete uppers will still lack BGC and Charging Handles. I personally recommend you stick to “Full Auto, Milspec” BCGs. THIS DOES NOT MAKE THE WEAPON FULL AUTO, IT SIMPLY DENOTES THAT IT “COULD” FIRE FULL AUTO WITH AN AUTO SEAR.
>>30560753
Wait, why are 2 of the 3 pictures Depicting funeral ceremonies? Is it trying to tell people to join up and die?
>>30560450
I can't wait for my carrier.
Already want a battle belt for more water and more mags. My Army bud is a medic. Maybe he can show me some AFAIK stuff.
Is OD green Magpul furniture as ugly as it looks on their site? Should I get FG instead?
>>30560785
Part 3/3
Here’s some general advice for all things AR15 related
It is generally a good idea to stick to "Mil-spec" guidelines, or above when building an AR. Everything I recommend will meet or surpass these.
A Lower is a Lower is a Lower. Any Mispec Lower will do the same thing as any other Milspec Lower, if you want to save money, buy an Anderson Stripped Lower and PSA LPK. Milled, Ambi Lowers are not needed for 99% of shooters.
It is a good idea to have 500 rounds of quality, brass case ammo in storage.
M193 is a very good ammo to stockpile, it is cheap (30-35 cpr) and relatively accurate. This is the round the Military used in Vietnam to devastating effect. THERE ARE BETTER ALTERNATIVES FOR SELF DEFENSE, HOWEVER.
1/7 or 1/8 barrel twists is the best because it allows you to stabilize heavier rounds, such as 77g Mk262.
Only buy Magpul mags, Lancer L5 mags, or GI mags with Magpul followers.(Shitty mags are the #1 reason a rifle is unreliable)
All milspec AR parts will be interchangeable, avoid proprietary stuff for convenience.
If you are building the rifle on a budget, don’t worry about fancy things that aren't needed to increase reliability, that money would be better spent on ammo and training. You will always have time to customize the rifle to your liking after your experience grows a bit.
Optics are nice, but not a necessity. DO NOT CHEAP OUT ON OPTICS, AND ALWAYS RUN BUIS(Backup Iron Sights). And no, your $30 dollar ACOG Clone does not outperform your buddies $400 Aimpoint.
If you plan on using this rifle for defense, a weapon mounted light is 100% necessary, bad things happen at night, seriously it’s not mall ninja shit and anyone who has actually used a rifle at night can confirm this.
>>30560679
Rail is a 9.5" Odinworks O2 Lite MLOK, but they also make a keymod compatible version. Thing is light AF, I think it's about 5oz with about 2 oz of hardware. Minus the parts I'm missing, It's sitting at exactly 3lb. Hoping it'll wind up at about 6-6.5lb loaded.
>>30560789
lad it's army recruiting. I don't think they even realize that's what they're showing.
>>30560789
They aren't, the left is of somethings. Not a fallen soldier ceremony because there is a band the right is just a pair of boots on the ground with dog tags in front of them. A fallen soldier cermoney the dog tags are hung from the rifle, not placed in front of the boots.
>>30560774
>>30560785
>>30560795

>>30560781

>>30560770
Fooey.
>>30560784
The old one is just that, and old school aesthetic a-la 1980s-1990s firearms.
The new one is by far one of the most futuristic looking rollmarks out there. No fucking animals or cannons. Just a symbol. Very meta.
>>30560785
Hey Dan I was meaning to say last night but you should amend the barrel length section to quickly explain that a 14.5 will need a muzzle device to be a non NFA rifle.
>>30560784
everyones taste is different but I dont get how the large size A triggers you but rainier absolutely covering the right side of their lowers with that giant RAINIER ARMS rollmark doesnt
>>30560791
im personally not a huge fan of battle belts but im the exception to the rule. I also have no ass so thats probably why I dont like them. Source makes a cool 3L bladder and pouch system that attaches to the back of the carrier but I've opted for a very streamlined carrier and then my water and everything else in a pack.
what IFAK questions do you have
Does anybody have any info about the Individual Carbine competition? Which weapon systems performed well? Which ones tanked?

I honestly went for the cheapest one on the list.
I was looking at this $70 Condor for a minute but then Nutnfancy said that it wasn't stout enough to hold more than 3 mags so I nope'd the fuck out and went with an AWS for $150.

Actually naw you should probably shop around. I impulse bought mine because it was 2am and /pol/ had me hyped on Dallas.
>>30560897
Recoil impulse is a larger function of gas system length, muzzle device, and weapon weight.
Barrel length by its lonesome doesn't contribute.
There is a rule of thumb relating muzzle velocity to barrel length. I think 100fps per 1"
It isn't actually linear though, and it varies by ammunition.
>>30560918
I didnt even notice until you mentioned it.
bare minimum IFAK should be 2 TQ, 2 or 3 israeli bandages, some gauze, and trauma shears. celox or quikclot is good to have, but not the powder quikclot.

Do you have experience with them? I've thought about trying one. All I've ever messed with was mil spec, mil spec with some work, and CMC. Hated the CMC. How does it compare to guys Lee?
>>30561858
>How's it even blem anyways?
No idea
>>30561819
is that original? is it a henry or winchester? I dont know much about 19th century guns, forgive me. more about 18th and 20th. How much?

this will be my first MBT. ask pb and qb swear by them, basically a more affordable SSA-E without sacrificing quality

shims and gauges in the mail, picking up the receiver tomorrow. cz75 could use a new extractor and spring
>>30561874
Maybe somewhere minute on the finish?
Maybe a small burr?
There's gotta be something

Great to hear. Did you go the $125 route? How long is that wait?
>>30561887
>>30561858
Yes, for $4800 she was mine
>flintlock
Not quite, though she was originally bp. .38-40.
>>30561751
i figured that much, kek.
was really just asking to see if anyone here has ever used one of their blem lowers could advise what to expect (finish inconsistencies, ugly milling marks/scaring, etc.) especially at the relatively higher price point at which they offer them compared to others.
thanks anyway though.

If there is it's definitely not enough to matter. Thank god for Bill Geisseles autism.
>>30561882
Original winchester 1892. Serial puts it made around 1909. $4800, which is a hell of a lot less than it's worth. Got a damn good deal on it.
>>30561895
I did go the $125 route. pb waited 2.5 months for his but larue is saying 3 week lead time right now. they make them in batches so I'm sure they're making a big batch from all the july 4th sales

Let me rephrase. It will be the most expensive recently acquired gun itt.

Compound familam. killed many pigs
>>30560406
How bad is it to torque barrel nuts to 70ft-lbs?
>>30561987
It's a 15" mk4
>>30561861
i like the mbt more than my ssa-e
>>30562005
Huh. Never noticed that difference
>>30562002
bad, stay as close to 50ft/lbs as possible
>>30561992
No but seriously, I'm retired and have no real expenses outside of guns and I love the aesthetics of the 1886, 1892, 1895, and model 71 Winchesters so I collect them. My 92 collection is almost complete, just missing a .25-20 trapper and a .44-40 deluxe octagon rifle with button mag
>>30561999
I figured as much, I shoot wood bows because autism and because I reenact
>>30562023
Sweet. I'm definitely going to try one I suppose. I've had probably 4 people on here tell me they are great and cheap.....relatively speaking
>>30561995
1876 winchester. Pic related.

> just missing a .25-20 trapper and a .44-40 deluxe octagon rifle with button mag
Same here
>>30562024
I don't know. That may very well be the blem. I can't compare to the other side at the moment.
>>30562047
well compared to guyslee they are cheap
>>30562024
Looks like they're supposed to be that way. Seems like it's only on the m lok version though

And I'll get it, too.
>>30562125
I believe it. I've seen original flintlocks sell for less than that but the cowboy culture is strong. cool shit man, what else you got?
Just took this slut shooting. The MBT is a really great trigger., if you have doubts, just do it.
>>30562133
Buncha shit, but the only other thing I had for sale was an 1895 deluxe in .38-72 that had been refinished at some point. Gorgeous but incorrect, sold it for a significant loss. Got $7100 for it yesterday.
>>30562036
fair enough I've used a recurve as a ow fishing rig.
>>30562025
but what if the holes only line up at ~30 and ~70?
>>30562111
how did you get those pics from the DPD ?
>>30562208
Either shim it or torque it to 70.
Aero nuts say they can be torqued to 90 in the instructions.

I always wondered if they copied AK internals or not. Now I know.
Love how the mag is like the bastard lovechild of an AR GI mag and AK steelie.
>>30562101

Heres a pic of one of their seven racks here.

>>30562378
>>30562391
thanks. What effect will it have on barrel harmonics? I heard in a bolt action, you want it as tight as you can get it without stripping the threads - if so, why does the manual only call for 35-70?

>>30562330
christ those prices. the only thing I think I'll ever shell out that much dosh for is some nazi shit.
>>30562406
unless you are shooting .25moa 5rd groups, you will see no effect between 30-100ft/lbs

Are Elzetta lights well regarded? Thinking about picking up the Elzetta minicqb
My pistol is almost finished. Just need a BCG and some sights.
I've been poking around in gear queer threads a while, and I haven't gotten much of a response. I'm starting to look at plate carriers. I'm thinking of getting a condor MOPC since it seems to be an entry level PC that even condor couldn't fuck up. I'm open to suggestions for baby's first PC though.
>>30562406
Assuming everything is squared up and true it has no effect at all (bolt or semi).
For most guns the difference is somewhere between negligible and unnoticeable.
Your high end benchrest boltguns are not torqued very hard, 25-40 lb-ft. And they hold just fine because the receiver face and barrel shoulder are absolutely square. I have a switchbarrel rifle that's half MOA capable and I only screw the barrels in hand tihht, ~15is ft lbs.
>>30562439
nah i want something like pic related. multiple paper targets
>>30562444

>>30561684
where in detroit are you? whats a good range
>>30562475
then build exactly that. 4x4 posts for the legs, use 2x4's to build feet, then connect your two with 2x4's exactly as your pic shows. Then you can use a stapler to put targets on it and cheap to repair. At most you'll be replacing your longer 2x4's only after they've been shot a million times.
>>30562492
fuck off milo
>>30562504
>>30562492
there are no gun ranges in Detroit.

how much does he want for the rifle? you could part it out on armslist during election panic and maybe even turn a profit

it'll take an akm trigger and hammer, as for the mag, it's shit. atleast a pound unloaded and the spring is really weak
