(10) 6x5s are easy enough to find for around $40 but Russian ones are like $100

If it was my kit I wouldn't be selling it.

The seven is fucked up because the original Soviet worker fucked it up when he scrawled it on in nineteen eighty fuck-you. It was standard practice for MANY years on Russian AKs of all kinds to scribe on the serial number on certain parts. The extractor is the most common part you see this on, but also the top cover, the gas tube, and the safety.

Please don't make me open the safe. Know when to fold

>>
>>30527961
It's a deact kit and I find the claim that it has the original barrel to be highly suspect, it's not a real RPKS-74 kit as that is obviously a random folder trunnion that he threw in with the kit, and he's probably selling it at a 600% markup, but I am positive that the parts you are criticizing are the original serialized parts.

As a side note: those folder trunnions alone are highly valuable and have sold for as much as $1000 in the past. I still wouldn't pay $3000 for that kit though.

Scratch that I looked at it again and it's one of the Bulgarian serialized kits that were made in Russia but finished in Bulgaria

Ohio Rapid Fire imported those years ago and that is in fact the original barrel, as those kits were imported before the barrel ban.

Personally I find his claim that the front trunnion is original, but sanitized, to be most likely true.

It's still like a $2000 kit though.

>>30528133
I have never made such a claim in my entire life, but I appreciate your thinking so.

>>
>>30528154
The rail is an M21.
It's typically used on SVD type rifles, but it's placement on the Yugos imported is odd, and most SVD mounts won't sit at a proper height.

RS Regulate makes a Yugo specific mount just for these imports.
The 306/307 RS mount to be exact.
You will also need an upper mount and an optic to go with said upper mount.

>>
>>30528656

Are you talking about this?
https://www.amazon.com/RS-AK-306-Lower-Modular-Mount/dp/B00TTBAFZ6

>mfw 130

I think I saw a youtube video the other day when someone shaved off a bit of metal from a standard adapter and it fit alright.

I might give that a try (picked up a mount for 20 USD so no big deal if it fucks up.)

I only really want to use the optic mount because the cheek rise on the stock makes it super hard to use the irons. Do you think a dust cover with a mount is a better option? I'm only concerned about the height.

Anyway, thanks for the pointers on this.

The 307 is the full length one.

It gets better. That's just half of the "full" mount. You'll still need an specific upper mount (another $65 or so) for the optic you choose.

I've seen the mod you're talking about, taking a chunk out of the rear of the mount, but I have no experience with doing it.

Read this thread on the files, there's quite a bit of info on yugo specific mounts and tips.

I'm sure if you can get the geometry right, it'll probably work fine.
But post updates when you do it though.
Always good to see if stuff works or not.

Yes, but that's somewhat common with Izhmash mags, I've seen it a lot. It's cool because now I can see what's actually going on in there with the steel reinforcement that makes it pop through in those locations.

I haven't decided if I'm going to shoot with it yet or not. Transparent polymer is hard to make without it being brittle.

I got some more info from a guy with a 5.45 one, he's selling it for $2000 but hasn't had any takers. According to him, his is an older one from the 90's from a brief attempt at Izhmash to make a translucent mag. All of the older ones have cracks everywhere but the newer ones seem to be made with a better polymer.

Have you tried Classic Firearms? I believe it was them that, at one time, had so many spare nugget crates that they set them out in their parking lot and let people come and take them for free, as long as they hauled them off themselves. They might have some left. I have seen them several times at gun shows before as well. AIM surplus? Anybody that imports nuggets by the hundreds has had crates at some point.
>>
>>30533743
I sent an email to AIM earlier this week and was told that they do not have them for sale. Im going to probably have to browse gunshows for a while before I can find one.
>>
>>30533687
1. Buy a crate of 20 moist nugs, they aren't that expensive.
2. Sell nugs on armslist/gunbroker/whereever. 3. Keep crate.
4. Profit, or at least break even and still have a bitchin crate.

how does the hammer pin come out? I took the paperclip out first and all the videos are now telling me I should have done that a few steps prior.
>>
>>30534788
Once you take the paper clip (sheapards hook) out you push the big silver pin out that your hammer rides on. You push from the side of the safety towards the rail mount I believe. Wiggle your hammer a bit if the pin doesn't budge. You should be able to just push it with any metal rod smaller than the whole the silver pin sits in. Be careful not to fuck up the sheapards hook. Go out and buy a retaining plate

What scope rings are those?
That's the setup I want, but I'm unsure what height rings to get.

I have no experience with staining or refinishing at all. From what I gather I should chemical strip it. Then lightly sand. Then use clear shellac with rit dye. Thats all I know. What are you doing with yours?
>>
>>30536497
Doing a Shellac this time, I did a wood stain I found at my hardware store so this time I'm going more authentic. I also didn't use tung oil, and I'll be trying that out for a clear shiny finish.

this is a guide I used, there's a lot like them. Good luck with it, post your pictures when it's done.

Thanks anon. I'll let you know how it goes. I actually intend to put this on a Norinco but if it turns out nice enough maybe I'll get another set and put the handguards on my triangle folder slr-106.

Funfact: If you've ever purchased a US made production AK, even a parts gun, it uses a US made barrel.

New to /akg/ but I'd like a question answered if possible.

Is the Century Arms Draco a good gun? Is a new one worth $500?
>>
>>30531715
Actually, it's not. It'd dangerous to fire due to closing on a no-go guage.
>>
>>30537985
As long as it's regular Draco and you inspect it first, yeah they're neat AK pistols. I prefer them over the Yugos since they can take regular furniture and have CHF chrome lined barrels.
>>
>>30538142
I've never owned an ak-platform firearm before, what are things that I should look for specifically when inspecting it?
>>
>>30538176
make sure the sights are aligned (Given that dracos combine the front sight and gas block, this should be less of an issue) Push on all the rivets, from every side you can. If anything attached to the front or rear trunnion moves, be very wary of it. If multiple trigger guard rivets are loose, they can be corrected, but can mean bad mag fitment.
As with all guns, check the bore.
Oh, and polish the shit out of the hammer. recent G2 hammer groups have been chewing up carriers.
