The TA31 (not TA31F, TA31RCO, just TA31) has a carry handle mount and the drop is configured for 55gr out of a 20 inch barrel and it takes sitting on the carry handle into consideration. I have one on a m16a1 clone because I am an asshole; it is fun to shoot.

Alright gents looking to get my first AR (and for that matter my first semi auto rifle over .22lr).
Primarily want it for target shooting and SHTF insurance. I'd just assume use my pistol for home defense so I was thinking a 20 inch barrel if I go with 5.56.

that set up is fine, the only issue is unless you plan to use and A2 FSP you are going to have an exposed gas block. Look into a longer hand guard or use as A2 FSP. For a simple set up its fine. The jury is still out on melonite, simply because chrome lining has been a standard for such a long time and will continue to be. That being said melonite is a decent cost saving alternative.
