Who hunts with AKs in 5.45 or 7.62 or SKSs? Who's hunted with a semi-auto in 7.62x54R? Anyone with experience with advice for which one was best or most fun to use? Want to hunt eventually with AK, maybe with gorka or track suit for slav experience.

Question, I got an SLR-104 today and the sling mount on the stock is on the right side. Is there any way to just flip that around or no?
>>
>>30478304
>Century-built AK with a silly front end, mostly (out of spec?) WASR-10 parts. Receiver and trunnion stampings were WASR/Cuigr. The shop I once worked for sold a dozen of these things, which we were told by our distributors were the only ones. This was in Spring 2009 IIRC, and they were briefly the cheapest AKs on GunBroker by about $300. Everybody we talked to was planning to cut off the silly nigh-ungrippable front end and return them to something like AK-standard configuration. Fit and finish were atrocious even by Century standards, and I personally wore out a lot of cleaning supplies preparing these for shipment. The short gas system seems to have been Krinkish parts grabbed at random out of a bucket and slapped onto standard-length AK barrel blanks with the gas port drilled for the short piston. They were a silly idea which went nowhere, and I never encountered anyone else selling them- they had the feel of "hold my Slivovitz and watch this!" toolroom proofs-of-concept. The sort of thing that would sell well for low-budget "Fallout" cosplay. At the time they shipped with sling and one of the then-new Tapco AK mags as pictured- if a buyer ended the auction with the "Buy It Now" we'd throw in two more steel mags and a two-slot Romanian carrier. As a project gun, they weren't bad. For an as-is shooter, they were suitable only for use at the Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy.

Still looking for a semi auto AK-100 FCG.

On the subject of shoulder things that go up, would it be worthwhile to attach a hook on a small frame to a soldier's pack so he can hang the SAW on the hook right near his shoulder?

>>30484315
You could weld it in if you wanted. JB Weld would honestly probably work. Or just buy the kit from Carolina shooters supply that comes with the drill bit, tap, screw, and guide. Just be careful not to break the tap (don't use a hand drill srs) and red loctite it when you're done and you're golden. The mechanical purpose of the bullet guide is really simple so it's not exactly precision work.

Thinking of selling some of my bakes and some ak parts here and there to anons.
>>
>>30484420
Make a burner email, have the interested party email you, reply with your PayPal email address and how much money you need, be sure to include specific instructions on how you want the money to be sent on PayPal, then USPS it. I usually just factor shipping into the cost, $6 covers it most of the time, if you want to be anal about it you could print off shipping labels from home that will tell you the exact shipping costs.

The stock is airshit (http://www.evike.com/products/54706/)
Grip is for airshits (http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/Accessories_Grips_and_Stocks_GBB_Asura_Dynamics_RK_3_AK_Pistol_Grip_for_AK_GBB_Series.htm)
I highly doubt he actually has a full auto ak, and you can tell it is select fire, from the selector scraping all the way down, i've seen that on most metal airshit ak's.
I've seen the foregrip on an airshit site before.
handguard is cheap chinese plastic for airshits, probably made by Jinggong (airshit company)
Airsofters will pay decent money for anything that will get rid of that god forsaken orange tip, see for yourself (http://www.evike.com/index.php?cPath=28_25_87&sort=3a&page=1)
As for that cz-75, it could easily be a .177 or .223 cal airgun, as those come with no orange tip, the grips are also compatible with the real ones, so like >>30484561 said, it could easily be airshit too.

Hello /akg/

Im not very familiar with AKs (i am an ar15 fag with an SKS and a Mosin Nagant.)

Do they make a modernized a-la ak 107 style AK on the civilian market? i do not mean bubba'd with aftermarket parts, but having features such as a bolt hold open and thumb accessible safety, or if possible milled receiver?

I am trying to find a gun for my brother who would do well with an AK from a maintenance and reliability perspective, but having fired a WASR says he hates the ergonomics of it

I was referring the fact that I know a little about airshit, and that I had never heard of the real zentico furniture. I offered my opinion it was airshit based on what I actually knew. I'm just surprised no one clicked the link and noticed the stock had no markings before I did.

>>
>>30485207
No, I had a reason, and the reason was that I had seen it on an airshit website before, and that was my original suspicion. In cased your dumb ass hasn't already noticed, me thinking it was airshit IS an opinion.

Not out of actual bakelite, dumbass. They're either solid orange/brown or purple plastic with no way for them to chip in a realistic way.

Sometimes you can swap airshit mag guts to real magazine shells. Maybe that asshat did that, but if I recall correctly that's really hard to do with bakes or plums.
>>
>>30485527
swapping shells is easy with airsoft, as they are designed to fit in the real dimensions of a mag. That being said, I know there are cheap imitation wood and imitation bakelite, but there are actual bakelite airsoft magazines. I believe there is a company called MAG that sells them, and the OEM for a certain company sells a bakelite with one of their rifles, im sure you could find a direct way to buy those.

Ehh... that really depends. What few I have left for my pidgeon flusher are fatter and longer than my WASR's mags.

The mags i am talking about are 5.45 style mags, not 7.62. I know the 74 style ones are designed to fit into a casing, because I have seen the interiors of those, but I cant speak for the 47 style mags, although most are cross compatible in airsoft because there is no actual caliber difference.

Those are early glass filled polyamide.
The first iteration of bakelites, to my knowledge.
Rather rare, and quite expensive.

All the bakelites are glass fiber filled, it's the basis for the entire mag, It's glass fiber reinforced resin.

Everything on it is perfect. I bought this one from him after he built it. It was a kit he had sitting on the shelf a while.

As far as turnaround time, if you're in a rush and aren't patient, don't use him. He'll tell you the same thing. They're a busy shop and they get things done as quick as they can while maintaining their quality standards. They're training a new guy so they should be up to a 3 man shop soon.
>>
>>30486764
Why didn't you use a one of those Polish barrels?
>>
>>30486929
Because I didn't build it. It was 95% done when I bought the rifle.

Also, I don't believe an AKM barrel has the correct profile for Type 3 stuff but I could be wrong. The barrel in mine is press fit (not thread in), but I'm not sure if the diameter is the same for the GB and FSB.
>>
How expensive is non-steel 7.62x39? I'm thinking about getting an AK, but a lot of ranges around me turn away anything remotely magnetic, even if it's just bimetal jackets.
>>
>>30487041
PPU and Fiocchi both make it for "decent" prices. $10.99/20 around here. Cabelas sells it and some local ranges. PPU makes an FMJ and SP load.

Already had mine done. They are really fun, but don't expect anything too miraculous. There's no punch like a rifle, and the recoil is very long, if you know what I mean. My sight is also slightly drifted and needs adjusted, but the fucking drum won't move. So after 25 yards I'm shooting far to the right.

They are decently made, too. However the design has been complicated than the original and I expect to encounter issues some day. Overall, its fun and a neat collector piece, but there are other things worth 800$ that are better.

Is this intended to serve as a backup for a grenade sight?

It's on the left side of the rear sight, and it's not easy to remove. I don't know how the fuck they added it to the rear sight in the first place, a black line pretty coarse.

There weren't ever any drums for 5.45 built as far as I know (maybe built some prototypes or something but never any sigvificant production and never fielded) and triangle stocks were only on 5.45 rifles so it would have to be someone's build to put a triangle stock on a 7.62x39 rifle

Reposting this from QTDDTOT in case nobody answers there. It might be better suited for this thread anyways.
I'm looking to buy an AK receiver for a Polish underfolder kit, but there were some additional options available on Childers Guns. There was front trunnion holes, rear trunnion holes; fixed stock, double hook trigger cut, and reinforcement plate installed. Out of these which ones are necessary, helpful to have for a first time AK builder like myself, or completely unneeded? I'm going to assume rear trunnion holes are not needed because it said fixed stock and I'm buying an underfolder kit.
