frustrating, stupid, or plain embarassing things that have happened to you in the firearms world
Ill start
>turned 21, want my first gun
>im weird and want it to be special
>being my first gun, I want it to mean something and be symbolic
>too many choices, dont want/cant afford anything custom but dont want a vanilla glock 19 either
>settle on a model 10 smith and wesson
>classic, cheap, simple, historic, heirloom worthy and overall just want I was looking for
>visit all the gun shops in town, none of them have any
>they have taurus, charter arms, rugers, newer Hilary holes smiths but not a plain model 10
>get worried, they tell me if I really want one they can order it from smith and wesson
>700 fucking dollars and S@W has been backlogged for months
>settle on a model 65 smith and wesson for $650
>like it a lot and dont want to complain, but its not exactly what I wanted
>ill never get a "first" gun again
maybe im just too autistic but it still bums me out. Also apparently model 10s are fucking unobtaniuam where I live even though Ive seen them sold for 300 dollars in other places
>>

Nigger calm down, my first gun was a nugget my dad gave me when I was 16.
>>
>>30431066

You don't deserve her desu

If it was that important, why didn't you wait, faggot?

And because you didn't and regret it, now we're here: >>30431120

>mostly populated by old fudds who stared me down when I first went in there
>most of their pistol selection is glocks, M&Ps and 1911
>in fact id argue about 90% of it
>ask if he has any Jerichos
>"...a what?"
>umm a jericho, you know. Israeli made, a DA/SA, sometimes they call them the baby eagle"
>dude is looking at me like I have three heads
>show him a picture on my phone
>"oh, yeah yeah. Ive seen those before" I can tell hes bullshitting "well. we dont have any of those, but have you seen our glocks"
>buy a couple mags because Ii was there and never go back
>now I have to travel an hour away to another gun store to get a decent selection

I mean, I get its an older generation and they might not be fully aware of all the guns out there but how do you flat out not know of a pistols existence. Its not like theyre THAT obscure
>>
>>30431066
eh my first gun was a glawk 21, and I don't even own it anymore. The way I see it, I don't really care what gun was first since my family is nogunz and I never grew up around firearms.

I just feel like a 'first gun' has more value if someone gives it to you and you grow up with it rather than one that you bought for yourself when you're 21. If my dad had handed down some shitty vanilla rifle when I was 10, I'd still prize it. It would be special because I would have a lot of memories associated with it, not because it was a symbolic snowflake gun. 'There may be many like it, but this one is mine.'

If you don't use the internet then it's entirely possible not to be aware of things, even something you're interested in.

Think about it, did you become aware of it because of the internet? You can go on a computer now and learn anything about any subject. Lots of older guys simply aren't that way inclined.
>>
>>30431721
It woulda happened without you.
>>
>>30431721
Nice, don't let your sister marry some bitchboy. It maybe an outdated or sexist ideal but you have an obligation to protect her and the other members of your family.
Especially from hipster fag bitchboys.

I saw a real one when I was like 13, didnt think much of it aside from being another pistol. Then I watched cowboy bepop and it got me wanting one again
>>

I feel like if you own and operate a gun store, being aware of the market in which you operate would be advantageous.

>>most of their pistol selection is glocks, M&Ps and 191
ha, Ive been there. I was looking for something fancy when I was a poorfag and the clerk asked what Ii already had. So it told him "just a plan glock 23" and he started gawking at me like I just insulted him. Went on a rant about how theyre perfect and he has 7 and when I was looking at something else he kept trying to bring me over to the glock and HK table
>hey, how about this revolver
>yeah yeah thats ok (rolling his eyes), but this USP is better. zero people or sales person skills

It baffles me how some of these guys stay in business

Dealing with chucklefuck fudds in general.

Went to local American Legion for an event where you shoot birdshot at 50yds for a chance to win a turkey.

Funds go to boy scout shooting activities, something like $2 per chance, why not sounds fun.

My only shotgun is 870 with full choke I use for deer so keep at grandparents house where I hunt, they have old H&R break actions there.

Pay our entrance fees and head outside, never done this so not sure how it works.

Approach old fudd surrounded by other old fudds. Say hello, ask main fudd how we do this.

Fudds eyes widen "how do you do what?" I respond never done this shoot, what are rules and procedures. Gives me some sarcastic "what you don't know?!" Fudds around him all chuckle at each other. Was tempted to tell him I just finished my STEN MkII receiver from scratch, what the fuck do YOU know? But hold tongue.

After a few more shit jokes from him and his chucklefuck buddies laughing finally just says "take your gun to the line, they'll tell you when to shoot. Your target number is on your slip."

I don't care about being laughed at but the thought that someone new to the hobby or looking to get it would be laughed off by Cletus and the circle jerkers really pisses me off.

I like to imagine that if I ran a gun store I would have a decent selection of ARs, AKs, some battle rifles and some bullpups for the rifle sections rather than the crap I have been seeing where stores carry like an unlimited number of almost indistinguishable ARs, one over priced wasr AK and a couple Springfield m14s.
It's seriously crazy that people don't even try to diversify their stock.
The pistols are another nightmare.
Almost no Jericos or high end revolvers or CZs but an unlimited number of 1911s ranging from Colt to rock island and like two or three desert eagles.

They weren't being assholes exactly, but they were so fucking cold and emotionless that they effectively were. If I hadn't been there, I can guarantee they'd have driven him off with how little of a shit they seemed to give. You're the fucking owners, make a god damn suggestion to an obviously new shooter instead of backing him into a corner like that. Fuck.

Its really strange, the store is family owned and half of them are borderline autistic with how they speak to people (very wooden, very robotic, and very straight forward with no suggestions ever), and the other half are really nice folks who actually know shit and are willing to share it.

I don't really speak with them that much. I mostly use them for their indoor range. If I go in to buy something, I ask for it directly, buy it, then say thanks and leave. Asking some of them for advice gets you basically nowhere. I have another LGS with really nice and talkative folks that I see speaking to literally EVERYONE, so if I want advice I'll got to them.
