Welp as usual the threads off to a shit start
>>
>>30383732
There's like 20 of them active duty right now and you need a masters degree in programming + know all coding languages to even apply. The screening process is rigorous and the job is the single most selective job in the US Navy.
>>
>>30383732
The job is highly classified but basically what you do is combat enemy cyber operations by browsing both surface and dark web and setting FBI styled cyber traps for people to click on and get their information beamed up. This goes to NSW who then either blows the place up or goes in and kills everyone to extract intel.
>>
>>30384413
Sounds like the gayest too and that's hard considering the navy

There was a warrant officer CWO4 on my ship in charge of all the CTs who was without a doubt the saltiest mother fucker ive ever met in my entire life. he was in for like 26 years and seriously did not give a flying fuck. Generally id agree with you but the STO on board was this fat black dude and he was the definition of a house Nigger. he would bend over backwards and fuck over as many enlisted as possible to please officers. I felt bad for him thats how cucked he was but the other 3 were good with that one in particular being so salty he was dripping haha. I remember hearing he got his Underway OOD letter at like 10 years in when he was a chief and he has been stadning OOD udnerway ever since. So hes been OODing for like 16 years straight so he was the most trusted one on board. He didnt even have to stand watch obviously but he literally loved to and wanted to do it.

Currently sophomore at Ohio State studying Data Analytics, considering ROTC. I don't want to end up in an MOS that will make me want to kill myself but my autism from playing Ace Combat as a kid peaked when that anon mentioned his base having F16 pilot positions open for the past year

I want to dick around with electronics/circuits/electrical systems, travel the world, and maybe go to space to dick around with electronics/circuits/electrical systems.
Is there something in the air force for that? What kind of gig is pic related? Not being familiar with military stuff, I'm having a hard time navigating what it is.
Going through college now, does that change my options?
My college has an AFROTC, should I look into that?

I'm not to worried about my AFQT score, I got a 93 when I took it in highschool, but that was years ago. And I've never known much about Auto and Shop stuff, which I'll need to go SF.
>>
>>30385451
>I got a 93
>Auto and Shop stuff, which I'll need to go SF.
Wouldnt you have had to have scored well on those thought or else your 93 would have been much lower?
>>
>>30385503
AFQT doesn't take all the sections into account. Just the two math, two English, and the science, I think. Electrical, Mechanical Info, Auto and Shop don't factor in.
AFQT is what you need to do well in to enlist in X branch, but to get specific jobs you have to do well in specific sections.
>>
>>30385520
Oh right i forgot, i guess i just figured if you did that good to get a 93 that you would be all around smart. Im sure your score was fine did you compare it to SF reqs?
>>
>>30385550
I am smart, but have little knowledge in things that interest me. I'm 21 now, and starting to get more of an interest in stuff like shop, mainly for practical purposes, but still have a lot to learn.
Took it years ago, don't still have my scores, not sure if I can even get them, since they've expired.

I'm about to finish my 4th year of college (History, 3.4 GPA) and I know that I want to join the Army, but I don't know whether I want to commission or go Enlisted. I'd like to stay in for 20 if that matters.

Another thing, I was thinking that I'd like to go into something with intelligence. I've heard to do that you need to get Top Secret Clearance, which requires an interview. There are 2 things that worry me and make me wonder if I should even go for a TS job:

-When I was in my freshman year I smoked weed twice

-When I was 16-18 (when I first discovered 4chan) I went through a kiddy porn phase.

I haven't touched or looked at any of that degenerate shit in years but I don't know anything about statute of limitations or if the Army would care. Anyone have advice?

How come every one is so anti-marine, what is the problem with it besides low standard of living. If i enlist as infantry what would i be doing and what are the probabilities of getting deployed somewhere or being able to advance
>>
>>30395841
Because they always talk about how they're the best even though they get all of the hand me downs from the other branches and the marine recruiters tricked a bunch of CoD and movie kids into joining because they said it would be super cool so you don't really meet a lot of people worth talking to in the marines like you can find in other branches.

>>
>>30395981

>they train harder than other branches though right?

This right here is why people hate the Marines. They've got a great marketing team that has somehow managed to convince civilians that all Marines are train-hard badasses.

Actual badasses are in SOF, which the Marines have the weakest showing in. All the coolguy schools? Not run by Marines, most of them not even available to your average Marine. All the coolguy missions? Carried out by SOF units within the other branches.

The only way Marines are "harder" is that they make their guys run 3 miles for their fitness test instead of 2 miles. That doesn't affect combat jobs at all, but it does mean all the nerds join other branches so the Marines have the shittiest support (computer wizards, intel, etc) too.

The end result is a branch that is worse than everyone else at everything. The Marines have an actual mission to cover that nobody else does (guarding embassies, ships, etc), but they don't actually do that anymore. Instead, they're just a smaller, shittier Army with really awesome TV ads.

>besides low standard of living

Marines is the worst of all worlds. You give everything up and get nothing in return.

Army, for example, has a worse standard of living than the Navy and the Air Force, but in exchange for that, you get to pick your MOS and generally faster promotions which translates to better pay and benefits. So you end up with a decision that looks like this:

Air Force: Best standard of living, poor promotion rates.

Navy: Better than average standard than living, decent promotion rates. Upsides.... boats? A dozen different uniforms? Muh traditions? Something like that.

Army: Below average standard of living, fast promotions, pick your MOS.

Marines: Worst standard of living, worst promotion rates. Dankest memes? Largest e-peen? Spiffy uniforms? Not sure what the upsides are here exactly.

I'm not an expert on the way the Air Force entry process works; I've just heard plenty of horror stories from people who were unable to get the job they wanted due to availability or other reasons.
>>
>>30399862
so which would be the best for OCS? AF or Army? I like the navy since you get boats but got turned down for SWO and dont want to do nuke

So why don't they do the MEPs medical/physical FIRST?

If I told my Doctor that I want to check my testosterone levels because I've been feeling depressed and demotivated, but haven't ever been prescribed anything, will I be okay to join?

I'm not really depressed, just down in a rut as of late... But I wanted to check my T levels out of curiosity, so I made up an excuse to my Doctor.
>>
>>30399862
You get to pick your job in the airforce (based on what is available at the time) I know some folks that were on DEP for 6 months but most are much less than that.
>>
>>30400248
Medical process takes longer and costs more per person than taking a test on a computer. They don't want to waste tax payer's money giving someone a full physical and lab work if they are gong to end up too dumb to be functional.
>>
>>30400434
Have you been diagnosed with something or prescribed something by a Doctor? If no I wouldn't even mention it to my recruiter. It sounds a bit shady but don't say more than you have to.

Different enlisted anon here. Whether an officer is prior enlisted has no bearing on my level of respect for them. All that matters is how good they are at being an officer. If they're good at it I might wonder why they spent so long fucking around as enlisted instead of commissioning.

It's not hard. You learn different rules for a fake language and evaluate sentences and pictures based on that.

Keep in mind to remember previous rules, because each stage will add new rules, but not reiterate the old ones, which still apply.

FC in the navy? It depends greatly and what your NEC is. Most do lots of maintenance but beyond that it depends. If you are tomahawk your "watch" if you even call it that is a joke. They sit in a room alone and play skyrim. If you are a spy tech youll be in CiC staring at an O Scope.

Some of the best rates man. CTx rates are all good and IT is good aswell. Id go CTR if i had to choose a CT rate then CTT. Some say CTN is best overall but im almost 100% positive they dont get stationed on ships so if you want to travel dont go CTN.

So I guess I should turn down NUPOC, every single person I see here says it's awful and on >blogs but the money seemed nice and the shore doody too
>>
>>30403408
>How long after basic do you go to airborne school

It depends. Inprocessing to the new post, then airborne school...say a few days to a week.

Jumping out of a plane is easy and disappointing unless you're in the 10% of people who actually enjoy it or actually hate it.

Overall there's no reason not to get it; it's not a big deal but it opens up a few opportunities for your career. Don't throw away a freebie because you bitched out or were lazy.
>>
>>30403539
>So I guess I should turn down NUPOC, every single person I see here says it's awful and on >blogs but the money seemed nice and the shore doody too
Think about that, thats why the moneys nice cause it sucks so much ass. So many oeioke wash out or get out after 6 cause of how ass it is. Special forces not included, Nuke school is the hardest school in the navy but most will saw CTN school comes in 2nd. So if its a challenge you want go CTN its just as great. Plus is sets you up really well in the intel community to get a job easy when you get out. Intel has a tight community with lots of friends.
For example, there was an ISC on my ship who showed up with 3 years left till 20. He got out at 20 and immediately got re hired as a civilian at the intel command he left just 3 ears earlier.

>>
>>30403668
Yes. You're whatever MOS you were before, except now you can join airborne units, which have a tiny bit more prestige, funding, useless tradition...and school slots.

If you're in your initial contract, you'll probably incur an obligation to go to an airborne unit before any leg units. Don't drink the koolaid; do take advantage of being in a good location.
>>
>>30403539
>how soon would I be able to laterally transfer to another AOC?

The real answer to this is extremely complicated. I'll try to keep it simple, but I'm really only giving you half the story.

At least 4 years in your first branch BUT it's essentially impossible to transfer to another basic branch. You cannot become a combat arms officer at CPT, because you missed out on critical experience as a LT.

The quickest you can get out of your basic branch is by going CA, psyops, or SF, and that opportunity is at about the 3 year mark. Other than that, it's 4 years, and even then there's only certain other jobs that you can switch to.
>>

I agree with you 100% but my laziness overcame my morals. Btw literally every ship on the ocean does this.
Story time
The way its supposed to work is while you are underway you store trash in one of the weather breaks. Then when you pull into port a working party forms and you haul it all off the ship. The problem is that the whole time you are underway all that trash is rotting, getting covered in seawater, paint, oil and trash juice is leaking all over it all. Its cookin in the heat and the bags are way to heavy and rip. So basically when you pull in no one wants to haul it which i cant blame em for. So at night underway we just stab em full of holes and chuck em overboard.
Btw what we threw was tame compared to other divisions
BMs threw cans of paint and thinner over
Engineers throw parts and what not over, oil included.
I remember hearing supply cleaned out hazmat over night basically.
When you are underway morals slip cause you are way over worked and dead tired.

Former Marine then PMC and now wanting to be a sailor (at the same time as being a PMC or whatever it is I choose next, so Navy reserve).

Are GM/BM/QM the three traditional 'sailors' rates if I wanted to actual do Naval stuff in the Navy reserve? Of these is BM the most 'traditional' sailor rate of the three?

I'm not new to any of this so yes I know what I am getting myself into, yes I know those are 'crappy' rates, etc. etc. I joined the Infantry because I wanted to be an Infantryman and now I am looking at these rates because I want to try my hand at sailoring.

It will be very hard if you do not get direct, documented combat experience. It will probobly be very hard in general because of the nature of the business; companies want to hire people that are already vetted and that make paperwork much, much easier (ie: already 'on the books', already have clearances under their control, etc.).

But that being said I thought it would be fucking impossible for me as a regular Marine infantryman judging by the naysayers when I was in ("They only hare SOCOM guys", "Dude it's impossible you have to be a fucking deahheater ninja jedi sith lord", etc. etc.) but instead I just ignored all that shit, started applying/researching as soon as I finished my last deployment and made sure I was ready to hop on as soon as I got the call. And I did get it.

Also, to go a bit further into that story I should say to get the 'cool' mobile jobs is very hard. My story again: I was about to go over to Kosovo, had already done the physical and such, to 'get my foot in the door' of the industry doing shitty static work with crap pay and virtually no leave and then I got a call saying 'could you get down to training for WPS PSS in two days?' of course to which I replied fuck yes (in a more professional way, hah). So, along with that these types of jobs (Kosovo, Jerusalem, static in Afghanistan, etc.) will most likely still be around when you are out and are a way to get into the industry.

To be honest I just got an email from my former employers (Triple Canopy) saying they are looking to bring back guys when the new task order is being competed for and now I am getting the bug again.

Sorry for my shit grammar and typing right now, just writing from my train of thought. I'll try to write more coherently if you ask questions, hah.

>Also can you redpill me on PMC's? I know this is not what you are asking but I always wanted to know from the horses mouth.

What would you like to know?
