What is the best commercial 5.45x39 ammo for the money? I've only got experience with WPA. I've got $500 to drop on ammo and I'm trying to decide if I should just go with what's cheapest or pay an extra cent or two a round for something that will perform a little better.

7.62 or 5.56 normally. But i've seen some fancy rifles from time to time, 5.45 AKs twice, and even a Turkish made G3. Also K98, Mosin and a MP5. No idea where all those came from. Standard are 50 year old AK-47 and M-16s, and some of the commanders carry M4s.

I'm not in Syria anymore, i've been there 6 months last year.
And i can't say much about stuff like that, i spent a few weeks in the mountains in Iraq, and 5 months in Syria, 4 1/2 of those at the frontline.
Kurds are very polite, welcoming and brave fighting. Also disciplined. But it's still a militia, and many of them are very uneducated. I've seen people running infront of my barrel while i was firing, a lot of shooting over walls, and playing around with grenades. I've even seen a guy hip firing his folding stock ak, a whole mag. The fighting went on for hours, we've been attacked north of Ayn Issa. Ammunition was precious, but that idiot just didn't give a fuck. But overall, i felt very safe and enjoyed my time. The girls and women are very nice, in most cases more educated and disciplined than the guys.

I've been with YPG, fighting ISIS and Al-Nusra. I've seen regime soldiers in Qamishlo and Heseke, and we got visited by FSA one time. Troublesome. We were occupying a farm, and a few hours later a FSA pickup showed up. Turned out the nephew of the farm owner was a FSA commander. He's been discussing with our commander, who told them to fuck off. They insisted on staying. Then, a second FSA truck showed up. They had different uniforms, but also FSA flags. The 2 FSA teams started arguing, and it got louder and louder. Suddenly, one of the second group spit at the commander guy who came with the first pick up, and the 2 groups started a fist fight. I had no idea what the trouble was about, they were shouting in Arabic. We seperated them, and they left in different directions. A day later, the first group showed up again, with the owner of the farm. Our commander let him take a look at his stuff, he took some shirts and his son's play car, and left. That's my whole personal experience with non-YPG groups in Syria. Pic related.
Besides that, the only thing Iranian i've ever seen was an Iranian volunteer i met. Nice guy.

I was emailing with them back and forth for like two weeks and then two weeks ago after I had to point out that the shipping tracker says that the carrier never received the package "Miranda" said that she'd look into it. A week later I heard nothing from them and emailed them and haven't gotten a response back, granted I shot them an email later in this last week, it's still frustrating. I'd try taking some very fine grit sand paper to them before you try filing.
They might fit after a few minutes of sanding, if they're not that that bad.

I don't have calipers unfortunately, I need to pick them up. My worst mag aaaalmost fits but it won't click the mag release unless I slam it it in.
I've been using a very fine diamond coted file, and I've done quite a number on one of my other mags that wasn't fitting but it fits just fine now, I've given my last bad one the same treatment but something in it is keeping it from fitting well. I can get it almost all the way in, except for clicking it past the mag release. Very snug at the front end too.

Paint. They refinished them at Radom, allegedly.
But apparently they just mopped it on, so some got a thicker coat than others.
I'd say just keep attempting to rock it in and out, and eventually you'll wear it in the right places.

I've got 14 Tantal mags, polymer mags are better. The steel mags seem to have thinner fronts and go high in my mag wells on fast mag changes. I never have the problem when taking my time.

I like it very much. It's a great sight. I really like the reticule and its very clear (minus the pink which i don't mind at all), and once I got used to the chin weld I started to really like it.
