So, would a sniper rifle using 20mm vulcan rounds be possible?
Or would it be a cannon already?

Such weapons already exist.

An anon defended himself with his barret cal 20mm
I want to set up a 30mm precision rifle.
I'd like to see how feasible a 20mm case necked down to fit a .50BMG bullet would be.

I've always wanted to fire a croatian 20mm rifle RT-20
>>30169217

ohooooo that's the other extreme, good one anon 5 star post

The biggest issue you'd run into is that gunpowder has a maximum expansion speed, I think somewhere around 5,000 ft/s (I can't remember exactly what it was), but you start running into it when you start doing things like using buttloads of propellant.

Yes that definitely happened

I think what your looking for is the 17 Eargesplitten loudenboomer
>>30170164
Fine then, 50 BMG necked up to 20mm. Let's make a giant 45-70.

What would the ballistics be like for this? I had a similar idea but instead of making everything fatter just increase the length.
>>30170444
does this actually exist
if yes, whats this things velocity and isnt it expensive to replace the barrel after 3 shots

The Eargesplitten loudenboomer is apparantly a thing, I found that picture but not sure if it's the real thing.
>>30170520
It is. It was created to try and break the velocity record, but I believe it was beaten very shortly after by a more conventional round.
