So I was looking around on Google maps when I spotted this about 50 miles north of China Lake NAWS in the Mojave Desert of California.

It's basically out in the middle of nowhere and it's clearly some sort of kill house complex. What really intrigues me is the ship.

Anyone have any idea what this is, past just a kill house complex?

Coords are: 36°12'28.1"N 117°33'27.0"W

Whole shit load of stuff out that way, south of this place.
>>
Well, considering that it's near China Lake, I'm going to hazard a guess that it's exactly what you think it is, intended for/used by NSW or maybe FAST teams.
>>
>>29840180
Most likely just a kill house complex.

If its replicateing something specific, the raid has most likely already been carried out, and finding what its replicateing is damn near impossible.
>>
>>29840180
is it within the base's controlled area or outside of it?
>>
>>29840180

Mostly unrelated, but I searched the desert nearby and found a half star of david half pentagram.

36°12'29.42"N 117°43'16.78"W
>>
>>29840180

what's a kill house?
>>
>>29840299
Hard to tell. I imagine it's still in the base's bounds, but there is a town a few miles to the north as well.

But when I say it's out there, it's WAAAY the fuck out there. in a valley between Death Valley and the Owens Valley.

That almost seems like a Russian SAM site orientation. You have spokes out to missile batteries, and a cleared out central area where the Fire control center would be.

Strange.

Not really, it is in the center of the naval air warfare center's airspace, they have simulated threats for training/testing.

You're right, now that I think about it. There is a bombing range out there somewhere too.
>>
Are those 20ft containers? If so the "boat" is 120ft long.

Just to the south is what looks like a runway, but not enough hangers for jets. Some odd looking shapes are at the north end. I'd guess drones of some sort.

i lived on this base for years. all kinds of fucked up shit out there. instead of building forts in the woods, we'd go to the desert. all sorts of unexploded ordinance, craters, trails. my brother and i decided to ride our bikes up "B" mountain. rode up a few miles, hit a huge fence. threw our bikes over it, kept riding. not even 10 minutes later all kinds of MPs and SWAT-like groups swarmed us. threw us into their SUVs, took our bikes, brought us in and checked our blood while the base commander shit down my dad's neck for an hour. they were making sure we didn't have radiation poisoning or any other weird shit. all the nuke and other missile tests they've done out there since the '40s. everything was crazy secret and isolated at that base, all kinds of weird aircraft and exercises at all hours. everyone freaks out about area 51, but bases like this are where the real weird shit happens

i doubt there is anything truely interesting going on there. if you think about it everything in war is about trying to get from point a to point b faster cheaper and with more kick.

if you keep abreast of materials sciences, and keep any eye on any new academic papers in those fields, I doubt anything there is anything that ground breaking.

whats scary is the NBC stuff, but for the most part there arnt novel applications beyond, lets figure out what is possible, lets plan for it.

i could be wrong though. i could be very wrong.

Some of it because the techs take it home, think wd40. some is just better in the open. Some like gps are declassified for whichever political purpose. my guess is there is a forumla for taking existing technology and using conjecture and estimating where it will be in 5, 10, 20, and fifty years, and estimating what breakthroughs will enable other new technologies. and what scarcities will exist sooner rather than later.

its a training yard for NSW or Port Authority, more than likely....

note how no two container areas are set up the same, but rather in common setups you find at the transfer yard. Also, half a container ship so they can practice storming a ship at sea. Also notice the light posts so they can do night drills as well.

As to why there is that little wooden bridge there, IDK. Maybe that is common at adjoining adjacent ports/docks.

Good find, but I doubt you are going to find any killhouses above-ground in domestic US soil.

Hmm, I guess you've got a point there.

I have trouble imagining what else it is, though. It's too remote for a normal MOUT range, and I don't think it's a replica of some real target area because it's been partially but not fully reconfigured in a way that wouldn't make sense. It's also out in the middle of an air weapons range.

Maybe they only use small-caliber weapons on this one? Or maybe it's something like >>29842170 says, where it's for testing tracking and surveillance stuff and not firing weapons at things.

It's right on top of a peak at China Lake so I'd guess it's probably an aircraft tracking thing.

Oldass article, but this website (http://desertpeaks.org/archives/dps02307.htm) says:

>It's right on top of a peak at China Lake so I'd guess it's probably an aircraft tracking thing.
Generally aircraft tracking stations have antennas reaching high up into the air without a protective dome to facilitate beyond-the-horizon tracking of aircraft.
>>
>>29842363
God fucking damnit that filename
>>
>>29842698
That's generally true, but there are plenty of tracking radars out there that are in low-set radomes, and this one's also on top of what I assume is the highest peak in the area. (Since it's named and the others around it aren't.) It's also worth pointing out that this would probably be for "local" tracking of aircraft engaged in exercises, not for long-range tracking, and that it's most likely part of a network of radar stations.

A shitty webcomic mainly meant to be humorous had a story arc about a miscarriage.

The comic was titled "Loss", had no dialogue, and the layout of the 4 panels can be simplified down to

II IL

As the panels are

>character is directed by receptionist
>character asks doctor wtf
>character stands over his wife who is in the fetal position on a hospital bed

Originally a /v/ meme I believe, Loss references have since become a kind of meta internet joke and crop up when you least expect it. Like when. /k/ plays Global Thermonuclear War.
