Someone needs to make a new AK sticky and point anons in the right direction to fucking avoid the RAS and C39 rifles until they get their fucking shit together. This is just fucking unacceptable. Pic related was not the same rifle Rob Ski had shot 5k rounds, though he mentions that guy in the video posted.

I think they put the WASR through way more shit than this rifle, even running it over with a truck a few times and didn't shit itself like this rifle did.

Also, why can't the US build a fucking AK rifle unless it's a super specialty $2800 rifle (ala Rifle Dynamics)?

That's the fucking thing, the US obviously can make an AR, which costs much more money in terms of the tooling to make cast or forged upper and lower receivers, etc. So why is it so hard to make a fucking steel box riveted together with some metal chunks at either end? Any third world shithole can put these things together.
>>

I bought a arsenal slr-107 and it's been fine for awhile.

>>
>>29741183

There are not that many US companies manufacturing more complex AR steel parts like bolts and bolt carriers. Most AR brands outsource all steel parts and only mill aluminum parts.

AK requires a bunch of milled steel parts of similar complexity as AR parts and since the profit margins are smaller pretty much nobody is doing them so Century Arms tried to cast those parts and the rifles made with cast parts are shit.
>>
>>29741154
I actually fell for the shilling of James Yeager and bought a RAS47 700$. 90 rounds in I alrdy saw scooping on the bolt. Fuckme.jpg watch literally all of the akou vids. Realize a wasr will outlast the ras47, me, my house, my family name, etc. This got me looking to trade my ras back for a wasr. See vid of Rob hitting 2.25 moa at 100 with the wasr. I'm sold. Originally I wanted to sell my ras and wait for the 107's or DAKMs to come back in stock, but it'll be 2017 by then and I wanted an Ak before this election. Realize I can polish the shit out of a wasr to get it smooth as an arsenal. 2-3 moa isn't too much worse than an arseanl, so fuck it. Went back to fun store to see what they had. They let me trade back my ras for 500$ and out that towards a 600$ 2015 wasr. At the end of the day I lost 300$ on the ras47 fiasco but it taught me who I could trust and not to make impulse buys. Now I'm the proud owner of a properly built ak variant and I still plan on buying an arsenal 107 or DAKM 4150 down the line when I have more cash. Live and learn my friends. If you are seriously considering buying a RAS47 please learn from my mistake. Save up for an arsenal or go for the wasr and some ammo, you will be much better served in the end.

>>
>>29741183
The AR is simpler to manufacture. Lower receiver is CNC milled. Rest can be bought and assembled with normal tools.

The AK requires industrial-processes that are only cost effective if you produce ten thousands of them.

Jesus, say what you will about WASRs, at least they'll outlive you and do what an AK was designed to do.

AKM - Different receiver specs and tolerances by origin country, hand fitted parts, riveting, and the varying usage of cast vs forged trunions, of which the US does not have a manufacturer of the later

That sucks, anon. I bought my WASR-10 in January and it was my first rifle. I did a lot of reading and it was going to be it or the NPAP, but I ended up going with the WASR when my buddy who is a gunsmith and FFL talked me into it and could get me a new '15 production one for 620 out the door. I realized if I was not the kind of person to read and have a few knowledgeable gun people around me, I could have easily walked into Cabela's where there are racks of RAS47s with Magpul stuff on them and just bought one because it seemed cool. I feel bad for all of the people who are doing just that and are getting fucked.

I feel for my American /k/omrades who cannot own a decent AK for a good price, while the cheapest guns I can buy as Mountain-Jew, are 100% mil-spec Romanian, Bulgarian, Hungarian, and Chinese AK's.

On the other hand I really envy you for being able to buy AR's at decent prices.

From the AKOU videos and what others shooting this rifles are reporting, there are multiple issues in which the failures can't be simply blamed on lack of forged parts.

It seems the metallurgy and heat treating on many of these parts (that aren't the trunions) are fucked. The bolts and carriers seem to be made of a much softer metal than the trunions, which are leading to the deformities many are seeing on the dovetail of the bolt carrier as well as the lugs on the bolt and the surfaces they ride on in the carrier. We see this shit in the C39 and it's a milled receiver anyhow.

A guy on AKfiles took hardness readings of trunions and barrels on common AKs from various countries, all were similar in hardness on the rockwell scale except the Century manufactured rifles, who's barrels were significantly softer. Maybe this also has something to do with Rob's reporting that the Century AKs actually DO shot fairly accurate? But still not good for longevity.

I get how quality stamped AKs may not be able to be produced in a cost effective manner here, but I still have no fucking clue why milled ones can't be done properly when a lot of the labor is removed from the equation.
>>
>>29742403
IO hands down
>>
>>29742332
Arsenals are good quality and assembled nice but I was surprised how shitty the finish is on them. The rifle inside the receiver and out as well as on the bolt are sprayed with some shitty ass dollar store-tier paint that bubbles off the moment it comes into any contact with solvent or parts cleaner.
>>
>>29742409
The dovetail deformation happens because the hammer is much harder than the dovetail. I have seen this on a few different AKs and they all had the g2 trigger.

>>

I like both but I'd still take my wasr or arsenal in a shtf scenario over my dpms or m&p15. Hell, just for the reasons of cleaning and maintenance alone, fuck cleaning ARs, man.

its made for military use where everybody is issued with CLP for cleaning. they didnt take into account that american bubbas would want to spray the guns with all kinda of chemicals that harmed the finish.

if people just read the manual and contained their snowflake needs for THAT brand of solvent then it wouldnt really be a problem. Besides its parkerized underneath.

And yes it is a shitty red dot.
After a month of being left on the lowest setting it gets too dim to use in bright sun. With battery at full charge it still isn't bright enough for my taste.

Would much prefer an EOTech reticle, and the ability to leave it on for years at a time.

does such an optic exist?

That would be the only fucking positive thing about cleaning the AR rifle. Cleaning the fucking lugs is a motherfucker. Cleaning the god damn diamond-hard carbon bonded to the inside of the bolt carrier and tail end of the bolt is a motherfucker. Your post sounds like something I would have said when I was around 14 and still idealistic despite seeing what 95% of blacks do on a daily basis. Sounds like you can't into generalizations. We all know not all blacks aren't fucking niggers, just like not all asians eat rice, not all indians fail too poo in loo, etc, but they are a significantly small minority among those in their respective groups who do. Even a lot of good blacks hate blacks. Regardless, this is the type of sentiment you will find among most gun enthusiasts. AKfiles does suck for the reason that there are a shit ton of nutswingers of Rob Ski and RD and people who aren't very smart, but this behavior can be found on most all forums. This is why I don't frequent forums and I'd rather be on 4chan where ideas and sound arguments are what is important, not how long you've been a member, your post count, and how much you've e-jerked off a vendor or youtube personality.
