actually, many old timey service rifles had barrel bands and were plenty accurate, this was achieved by putting s screw in the handguard that had a spring coiled around it to reduce the anitnode distance from the center at the muzzle, removing said screw would cause the bullets to fly nowhere in particular, however, if you're worrying about barrel harmonics with an AK, stop that shit. harmonics aren't really a concerning feature unless you intend to take headshots at 800 yards and need sub MOA precision, all in all, you shouldn't need to worry about harmonics on a rifle intended for shooting at human sixed targets at 300 yards and generally inwards from there.

What's actually happening is your rifle's center of gravity is brought closer to your bodies' when you lean back, making it essentially less work to hold up.
