Ok so /k/ is the best place to get the most unfiltered and honest opinions on guns and gear, but you have to put up with a sizable amount of shitposting.
Reddit gun subreddits are probably the biggest circeljerks you can find on the web, with most of it shit and the minority being useful info.
Weapons specific forums (FALfiles for instance) are pretty good for specifics if you know precisely what you're after.
Are there any other sources I'm missing?
Also, why do so many anons shit on leddit? The non firearms related subreddits are complete shit, but I know a share amount of you are redditors because I've seen the same exact gun pictures posted here and on r/guns, r/mosinnagant, r/firearms, r/glocks, etc.

I visit a few sites. I come to /k/ to shit post and go to forums for knowledge and the marketplaces. Pretty much every major gun manufacturer has their own forum, some are slow but they are filled with info. I only go to reddit for the amateur porn.

I don't use reddit because of the circlejerking. I once did a detailed write up of how I completely refinished a gun and it got totally ignored for posts about AR 15s and a guy asking about holsters for his new XD.
I would highly recommend The High Road. It is a lot slower than /k/, but just about anywhere else is. Lots of good info and discussion on THR.

I haven't spent very much time there, but it just feels like an "also-ran" competitor for Arfcom. Mostly the same content and attitude, just less of it.
Anyway, as a general rule reddit is tolerable as long as you stick to very specific subreddits with fewere than 5,000 people, anything more and it hits the critical mass of normafaggotry and cancer that makes that site horrible. I stopped going to reddit when the closed down r/fatpeoplehate though,

Reddit is shit because it's designed to allow the masses to be manipulated, threads on controversial political topics get removed and the changes that they made to the voting system a couple years ago so now you can only see what the total for the vote is instead of how many people voted a post up or and how many voted it down which makes it much easier for shit to be manipulated without people noticing (such as when the trailer for Independence Day 2 came out and it made it to the top of multiple main subreddits, even ones where it was barely related).

shotgunworld helped me with a bunch of questions on things like steel shot and older barrels. Castboolits is great if you need to reload for an oddball caliber, or just need to learn more about reloading in general.
I get everything I need from FAL and AK files, Surplus rifle forum, and /k/
I also go on NY Firearms and cry a bunch.
