well considering they say that Japan has cut itself off of the rest of the world and even say that places like the USA are in ruins or struggling to survive, I can see how a system of martial law can be put in place and then expanded to entire government control. Of course this could all be fabricated in order to keep the people in line. But considering they are entirely self sufficient, id say that this system may actually be the best for them.

Psycho Pass really doesn't go into detail about any modern guns. I wouldn't consider it a /k/ series very much, but I think it serves as a great example of problems in Big Brother controlling smartguns.

SSS watches like an hour and a half long episode of SAC. Not really remarkable. Second movie is good if you haven't seen it though. Arise is pretty much if you took the original GiTS movie and made it in 2014. So moe out the ass and generally shit.
As for recommendations, try out some of the Appleseed movies. A couple good series are Gunslinger Girls (minus second season) and Gunsmith Cats.

Conflicts arise between characters that deal with what they have to do, and employers that disagree with the methods used by this band of Merry Men, along with the difficulties in the jobs (gunfights, etc).

How about an anime set in Africa, in the 60s? It'd be about mercenaries in the Congo Crisis and maybe for season 2/OVA about Biafra, leading into Rhodesian Bush War. Except in this universe, women participated in combat at a rate similar to men, like 60:40 in favor of men.
MC is a merc from your favorite Western country, she's a WWII vet and ended up in the Congo with a PMC consisting of cute girls doing cute things.
Base some of their missions on what actual mercs like Mike Hoare did in the Congo, not a copy, but a nice aside for people who know about the real events. By season 2/the OVA, MC and whatever breakout characters that aren't dead end up in Biafra fighting the Nigerians. Maybe a third OVA with a breakout character, maybe the MC in Rhodesia fighting Mugabe.
The Rhodie segments will show how Rhodesia actually was, not Mugabe's lies about "Oh, white Rhodies so racist, mush worse than South Africa despite no Apartheid!!!" Maybe have the character from the first series retire to Rhodesia and set up a farm, and then have it raided and burnt down, forcing them to go back to war. Kind of a "they keep pulling me back in" thing.
Of course there will be FALs everywhere.

It would start with the group making good progress getting to an LZ with minor contact over the first couple of episodes, but then the US soldiers come across civilians and South Vietnamese Army groups who need help pushing back the NVA.
The soldiers then need to make a decision whether or not to do the right thing and help out, or keep moving to safety.

80's/90's japan had a shit ton of money going around with the economy sitting on a bubble. You could get anything adapted with minimal fuss and hence stuff like Legend of the Galactic Heroes could get made into a 110 direct to sale OVA's eps with minimal fanservice shit.
Nowadays the economy is less bright and the formula now is to survive by using fanservice and well-worn cliches to chase a competetive otaku community along with conventional viewers. Unless you make 3k DVD/BD preorders your unlikely to survive another adaptation unless your hitched to another franchise like a game or previously successful season.

Sure. The beginning of it is the backstory of the main antagonist, the main antagonist being an orphan girl from Vietnam. The story is that her mother and father were dutch colonists that were killed by the Vietcong in the early days of the Vietnam war. She manages to escape her parents plantation and survive in the jungle for a year before succumbing and collapsing in a road however she's found by a squad of US Rangers and brought back to base. It differs from anons story in that instead of going to school and leading a semi normal life, she's trained by the rangers and used by the base commander in false flag attacks on the ARVN and civilians in order to keep America in the war.

The setting's a not-so-far future where the world is divided by three nations:

>The Collective, which is a representative-democracy where all sub-nation elect their respective members of the High Council to pursue their interest;
>The Free, a anarchic land where the only choices are made by the individuals themselves, there is no police or public services as there is no state, yet there are both capitalistic "private security/health/entertainment" conglomerates and communes of people who divide labor amongst their members, the land is in a constant fluid state of change.
The protagonist is the son of a late representative of The Collective which was assassinated after being found to be working as a spy/instigator for The Ordos, tying to expand their influence, his surviving family is then exiled to The Free lands. He lives a life of low wealth in one of the communes along with his mother, older brother and younger sister.
It all changes when his brother, who had then set out to work as a mercenary goes missing, and a cartel appears at the family household claiming he ran off with money and documents from a takeover on a competitors bank as the safe was full of "sensitive info" on something very red tape for them, as the mercenaries threaten to kill the entire family, the protagonist promises to join their search party as a collateral and leverage and the rest of the family is left alone in exchange.
