What kind of 9mm ammo do you carry?
What do you consider when choosing what type of round

>9mm
Was 22lr too much for you bitch

Federal Tactical 124gr JHP (LE9T1)
Federal Tactical 135gr JHP +P (LE9T5)
Federal HST 147gr JHP (P9HST2)
Federal HST 124gr JHP +P (P9HST3)
There's a reason that LE agencies pick from this list. Personally I went with the 147gr Federal HST; hard stuff to find and expensive but about the best you can get out of a Glock 19.
>inb4 all of the Hornadyfags show up to try to defend a meme option

Cormon +p hollow points
>>30176448
Monica, I came to post exactly this.
>>30176447
:^)
>>30176434
>What kind of 9mm ammo do you carry?
Hornady Critical Defense and Federal Guard Dog
>What do you consider when choosing what type of round
The terminal effect on the target.
>>30176447
Is only option comrade. Choose is for decadent capalists.
>>30176434
Pick one from here >>30176447.
I also do a standard test for carry ammo of running 50+ rounds through that specific gun to make sure it feeds them properly. Have had feeding troubles in the past with both Hornady (before I knew better) and Speer Gold Dots, the gun just didn't like them and it showed up quickly. Currently I'm using 124+P Golden Sabers.
The most important things to consider is 1) does it feed perfectly 2) consistency of terminal effects and 3) actual depth/expansion.
Presently I'm using Winchester 147gr JHP.
It kills things.
Buffalo bore low flash tactical hollow point.
I look at balistics tests and think "Which one of these bullets would I least want to pass trough my body". The answer was Federal HST. I would not want this mother fucker carving up my internals. Plus, its pretty.
147 Grain HST in my Glock 19
124 grain +p in my glock 26
I also like Federal HST, 147 gr variety. I generally prefer a heavy for caliber bullet.
There's a lot to be said about penetration. I'm sure we've all heard idiots before go "hurr why 12"-18"? We're not that deep front to back!"
Obviously we're trying to account for a shot that enters the body from the side or another odd angle and we want to assure it will penetrate adequately regardless.
I find heavy for caliber bullets usually do a better job than lighter options hence why I like 147 gr in 9mm compared to 124 or 115.
As a civilian carrying I also am not concerned with having barrier blind loads in my carry gun. I don't see the point. I can understand having them for a carbine but that's a totally different situation.

For people who don't realize this, the gel composition does not mimic the consistency of flesh; it is designed to mimic flesh and bone--12" to 18" mimics passing through the rib cage and remaining in the torso.

>what kind of 9mm do you carry
.45 acp hydra-shok
Polymer coated handloads
>>30176760
It also doesn't properly mimic skin resistance, so that's added in.
>>30176760
Or passing through an arm and going into the chest cavity then.

shootingthebull.com has a great article that goes into detail about just how gel works to simulate the human body, it's pretty interesting. >>30176760 has the gist of it though.
>>30176434
Cor-Bon +P
Hornady Critical Defense
And I've got 10 rounds of Winchester Black Talons just for some extra flavor.

I carry 124gr Gold Dot in my Glock 26 and 147gr Gold Dot in my Glock 17 SBR because it's suppressed.
I wish someone made decent 300BLK subsonic hollowpoints that weren't $1/round. I don't mind paying $30 for a 20 round mag, but I'd like to be able to train with it.
>>30176929
Why not train with cheaper subsonic stuff?
>>30176434
9mm mak, because i carry a p64.
>when milsurp clones can be found in excellent condition, and modern made "good" quality ppk's are being sold for the price of 5 p64
What a fucking world
>>30176434
Sig Sauer hollow points or Speer gold dot.
Both function well in my handgun. Main magazine is hollow points and back up is the Speer s. I figure if something doesn't die after 34 rounds of 9mm, both jhp and fmj, I'm well past fucked.
Fiocchi 124 grain JHP
>>30176447
>Federal HST 124gr JHP +P (P9HST3)
This is what I carry in my 19.
>>30176991
I do, but even then you need to throw in the real stuff every now and then.
Starting to conceal carry and bought both 124gr P+ Gold Dots and 124gr HST
