As for a weapon of choice, a form of bo staff or even tonfas would be good. Combine that with a buckler for when you're too closer for either and I think you're set.
That said, I don't know how a Living Armour would take to you using a shield, but she should be okay with it given that it's a small addition.
Additionally, having equipment like bolas and even having a chain-equipped shield so you have some range with it will help nicely for keeping enemies in place, away and pacified with little more than a big bump to show for it.

I feel like you drew the edge of the egg as high as you did so you could avoid drawing any more of the ryu, and risk it looking bad.
If that's the case, then I don't blame you for it. Even talented artists will pull tricks to avoid drawing complex things. They obscure the hands, or keep the bare feet of a person just outside the frame of the image.
My point is, don't be afraid to take risks and push yourself. It's how you'll get better, by drawing so far outside of your comfort zone every line you draw will take physical and mental effort.
But that's not what I mainly wanted to say.
What I wanted say is that your lines seem clean and pretty confident, and in my opinion, it looks like you had an idea of what you wanted to draw, and you pulled it off pretty well. I think you could make the horns a little bigger though, maybe more detailed too, even for that chibi style. And maybe correct the hair bangs. A little wider, a little less, with a few gaps, some more curves, and some ^ spikes to give it a more natural look.
But really, that's Latenight-tier cuteness. If you got a clean scan of that, I would save that. I would save that and gladly post it when talking about ryus.

Pretty much all of the Nokia phones from the mid 1990s to the early/mid 2000s were, with a few exceptions to the non-candybar designs. I can't remember which I had in the 3000 series, but that thing was fantastic.

So I managed to read a few of your short pieces, but I haven't read any of your Glen pastes yet. So it's very possible what I'm about to say will not at all apply and be completely invalidated by what's in those.
Firstly, you've got good grammar, you understand how the English language works. You'd be surprised at how many amateur writers on the internet you can't actually say that for.
I think your dialogue could do with some improvement. This is a general point about flow, structure on the level of the indivual sentence, and setup of a joke. I mean, you write comedy, that's kind of a big thing.
Unfortunately, I can't tell you how to set up a joke or write good comedy. I'm not a comedian, so I can just tell you that it's something you need to consider.
But natural dialogue is important. Understanding how to write it, how it differs from real speech between people, and how to make it sound completely fluid as it passes through the mind of the reader is pivotal, and to do that, you need to avoid anything which might make a person stumble mentally while reading, or double-take just to make sure they understand a meaning. It might happen too if they see a sentence which looks like it could be a bit more "efficient", if you understand what I mean.
Also, another two point about comedy: Frequency, and Contrast. I hope you're ready for a huge fucking spiel, because I'm going to ramble now.
Let's start with contrast. Tragedy and comedy. The Ancient Greeks knew about them, Shakespeare knew about them, and they knew how to capitalise on them, and why. And that's one aspect of why their stories are so vaunted today. When it comes to all things creative, I think contrast lies at the heart of it all. By definition, it creates definition. When you are exposed to one end of the spectrum of anything, and then exposed to the other end, whatever that other end is will feel like even more of a shift, will be even more noticable to you.
Now, we'll keep that in mind as we talk about frequency. And horror. Why does your typical horror movie suck? Why is it not scary? To be honest there could be a lot of reasons to this, but the one I want to talk about is that once the movie switches into "horror mode", that's it. It's now on horror mode until the end. It's trying to scare you from teaser trailer to closing credits, maybe even with dumb fakeout jump scares near the beginning of the movie. You know when a friend sneaks up on a girl and she screams while a scare chord plays? Cheap scares.
These creators, they seem to think that they need to keep you scared, and keep you tense, and keep you jumping, because it's a horror movie. And that just isn't true. You can look at any high school English class on Psycho to figure that out.
In good horror, you are not being scared constantly. You are being led along on a story, and that story is trying to horrify the reader. One of the best ways to do this is to introduce the horror, well, horrifically. I don't really know how to word this, it's a really vague and abstract thing, but the horror element needs to be distinct, jarring and unpleasant to the reader, confusing them, making them feel fear from that confusion, and so on.
If we link this back to contrast, we're saying that the horror elements need to contrast from the non-horror elements to really stand out, and that's where you can imagine you need to worry about the frequency of those elements in a story.
In comedy, it's the same thing. A good funny story isn't just trying to lay on jokes as thickly as possible, it takes care to place the laugh-out-loud moments in very strategic positions, to catch the reader and make them find humour in it, and laugh. You can look into the scince of why we laugh if you want to delve deeper into that, because it's quite interesting to read. Plus a lot of people talk about apes/chimps/monkeys when discussing this sort of thing, and who doesn't like them?
I think a problem you have, because I need to get to the point here, is that you layer jokes and references on too thin and frequently for any of the humour to really, truly stand out. I'm thinking of your Graduation Prep as I type that. The line of humour plotted on (y) over time on (x) just blurs, and becomes a straightish line, rather than something exciting with a lot of spikes and peaks.
That's not a rule you have to follow, necessarily. A good comedian can fire off jokes one after the other and still be funny, still get constant laughs. But that shit is haaard. And to do it right, the jokes need to be distinct, your delivery needs to be perfect, and you need to have mastered your comedic timing to the millisecond. In writing, there's most likely parallels to that which you need to adhere to as well. Even I don't know.
