yes

you can buy them on etsy
>>

What a wonderful world.
>>
>>15388616
Generally, yes. Dynamites are too big for SD13 clothes, though, if you're the guy with Sasara.
>>
>>15390803
Yes, that's me. So I guess it's safe to say that finding clothes for DDdy is going to be a little challenging.
>>
>>15391495
Yes, you'll really need to buy clothes that are specific to the DDDy. For that reason, I suggest you go to Mandarake for Volks clothing sets, or buy from Volks USA when they have good stuff in stock. Y!JA is also a great place to look.

Dollheart has some sets made specifically for DDDy as well. Nine9style has some dresses, tops, and skirts too.
>>
>>15391539
It would be nice if volks would ever release a smaller bust for DDdy. But until then, maybe I should learn how to sew. And learn how to use Y!JA.

Hard to find clothes for DDdy. Pic related.
SD16 stuff will say they can fit DDdy, but clothes will be baggy usually in sleeve length, etc.
>>
>>15389683
Exciting times! I remember my first girl it's great seeing her standing there being all cute and shit!
>>
>>15391659
You can mod a regular DD bust to fit a DDdy. Pic related and stolen from dollfiedreams.com
>>
>>15391936
I feel like that looks slightly better than a DDdy bust? More natural at least. Though if I really wanted a pair of natural looking large breasts I might as well go for peach pai. Does anyone here have one, that can vouch for them?

>>15391866
Who was your first girl, anon?
>>
>>15391947
Dynamite busts definitely look really strange.

I don't have a peach pai, but I've heard the maintenance is kind of annoying, they stain more easily, and they can rip if you aren't careful.

I believe the dynamite bust is the one on the right? Both definitely look really weird to me. I understand the purpose of dynamite busts is to look nicer in skimpy clothing, but they remind me of comically huge implants.

I hear the peach pai are more stain prone then DD's already are. And my first girl is Cake here I love her so much.
>>
>>15391984
I hate the balloon look. If I ever get a dynamite girl, I'll mod the two versions of the L bust and use them instead.

>>15392149
You should try adjusting her hair clip. It might look better if it's not so close to the centre of her forehead.
>>
>>15392169
Hmmmmmmm I never considered changing it before. They have been there since day one. It might be worth a look.
>>
>>15392149
I'd have enough trouble finding outfits for a DDdy, so I'll abstain from peach pai. I also agree with the hairclip statement, maybe lower down it would look better?

>>15392169
Yeah, it's exactly that. The balloon look. It's especially bad from the side, but maybe it won't be so bad with clothes on?

Just ordered these girls new wigs from Crobidoll. Looking forward to them not having piece-of-shit Volks wigs. Aya's is too shiny and flimsy, and it lacks volume, but overall I guess it looks okay. Eiko's is messy, stiff, uneven, and barely styleable.

It's hard to get Eiko to look at the camera, so maybe I didn't set her eyes very well. Still need to decide on some new ones to buy for her, too.

I had no clue volks wigs were that bad. I'm looking for a new one for my girl as well, but mostly out of paranoia of ruining the original volks one. This one is out of stock though, so I'm trying to see where else I can find it.

Is Eiko your girl on the left?
>>
>>15392908
Eiko's on the right.

I don't know if all Volks wigs are bad, but the only two I've got aren't giving me a good impression.
>>
>>15392942
I see what you mean about the eyes. Her left (our right) eye looks like it's placed a bit lower than the other.
>>
Sasara's new body arrived today, guys! Volks shipped quickly over the weekend, which was pretty impressive. To the anon who ordered himself a Mayu, I hope you get her today or tomorrow as well.
>>
>>15393228
Yeah, I got her in earlier today! Does the wig stay on your girl pretty well or is it generally a requirement to have the silicone/cloth wig cap?
>>
>>15393275
Well I only have her body so far, I bought her a DDdy3 as an upgrade. But from my prior experiences with dollfie dreams, a wig cap is more or less a necessity to keep it still, or at least a wig stopper. Cloth ones worked well for me before.
>>
I feel bad for my doll. I still haven't unpacked her after several months. Too afraid to stain her and make her collect dust without a protective area to store it.
>>
>>15393326
Who's your lonely girl, anon?
>>
>>15388891
Anybody have any information on comparing doll heads size-wise? I was wondering if someone could reasonably use a 60cm head on a 50cm body.

Also what heads are used on the mini DDs?
>>
>>15393787
Any head can be used on an MDD I'm sure. It just makes them look "chibi"er.
>>
>>15393851
I don't actually have an MDD for 50cm body. I was wondering what models those MDDs usually come with, the ones that look flatter and rounder. And of course, now that I relook at the "standard" MDD product page, it pretty explicitly states that's a DDH-01, so disregard that I suck cocks.

I'm pretty new to this so the gist is more how can I find out which heads will fit on what in a physically connecting sense. If anything I am looking for something that's a little more big-headed to give a better impression of a 50cm just being a shorter 60cm (which doesn't actually seem to be the case proportionally).

Also what's the head in OP?
>>
The pic in the OP I'm almost certain is an HDD01. I CAN say though, that HDD01 looks a little small on standard sized DDs, so I wouldn't go too much taller than the standard MDD height.
>>
>>15392876
These two are ultra cute!!
>>
What dollfie eyes/eye style is your favorite? I'm curious to see others preferences. I lean towards pupil-less eyes and an acorn shape. I also really love Twin Snow eyes.
>>
I'm starting to save up for a biggish sized doll. How is the quality on the Smart Dolls? They're very cute.

DDH-01 which I believe has been modded lightly to open the eyes up a bit and give them that super kawaiimoeloli appearance.

Volks Dollfie Dreams are generally considered to be "1/3" scale. The DDS and MDD bodies are (in theory) scaled to match the DD body, representing a little sister's body and a small child's body, respectively.

The various Obitsu/Parabox/AngelPhilia etc bodies starting at 50cm down are "1/4" scale. Their 60cm body is completely different and is 1/3 scale to match Volks offerings..

Volks heads can go onto Obitsu 40cm-50cm bodies with an adaptor piece which is commercially available from Coolcat(?) and _generally_ look okay. DDH-01 on a Parabox 40 or 45 is very popular, for example. Obitsu/Parabox/AP heads _generally_ do not look good on Volks bodies with perhaps the exception of the MDD body. I am unsure if an adaptor piece exists although I suspect a normal Volks neck joint might work anyway...
>>
>>15394780
Cool thanks, that helps. I already knew the body was 1/4 but I wanted to get that short 1/3 look as best I could without having to go DDS or MDD (I'll be honest, the idea that a 60cm is 1/3 and translates into a scaled doll taller than me seems to trigger some irrational OCD. I realize it's just a number but I'll have to acclimate first so I have to go shorter for my first one) though I think I'm probably going to have to deal with some experimentation pains regardless. I guess I don't have a clear idea in terms of what looks good for doll parts. I might try a 60cm DD head and and one of the 50cm Obitsu/Parabox/AP to compare. Of course, then I'll have one extra head sitting around. Or more if I like neither.
>>
>>15394780
>>15394869
I should also mention I find the idea that a 50cm doll is 1/4 is even more abhorrent as such a doll would be tall enough to go pro in the NBA. Which, again I realize is a horrendously irrational hang-up.

Ok dude can you not spoiler your text it makes it more difficult to parse than it needs to be.

Our resident fashion expert here has a Candy(??) DD standard head on an Obitsu 50 body and it seems to work quite well. He'll be happy to answer any questions you may have about making that combo work I'm sure.

The Obitsu body however is known for being a noodly leg monster at the best of times. It's quite slim compared to the Volks body and the leg-torso ratio is all kinds of fucked on the 50cm model. The 47cm body in my opinion has the best overall ratio giving it a aesthetically pleasing appearance when nude. The 40cm is also adorably stout.

I don't know how well a DD head would work on any of the smaller Obitsu bodies though, besides of course DDH-01 which is the go-to for loli dolls. You might end up with an alien looking creature if you tried to put say a Saber or Sasara head on one.

I have Obitsu 50, Obitsu 48 and Parabox 47 and 40 bodies and a worthless white trash bogan for background flavour.
>>
>>15394467
I like the design of the body and the engineering behind the frame but the vinyl is hard and feels brittle compared to DDs. But if you're sold on one of the smart doll heads then the quality is decent enough, especially if you haven't seen a DD body in person. The Choo apparel is really nice though.

Nice. I do wanna drop her down to a S bust at some point. Ahhh. General question, but do you other guys name your girls? I do wanna name her, as she still sits in her box at the moment, and as tempted as I am to play with her and pose her in undies and display as is topless, I cant find in myself to! It's a surreal feeling getting your first girl in the mail after waiting half a year for her you know? hoping a fitting name for her comes to me. I do have her birthday saved however so I know officially when that is.

>>
>>15394977
Thanks, that scale gives me a better idea of how big the heads are. I presume that's a 50cm head on that obitsu 50?

I've seen this collection a few, but looking at it like this I just realized how different the head shape and sizes are even at a similar size.

Hate to say it buddy but the FAQ in the OP post at #3 has links to a number of different stores that you can root around in to find a wig you like. I went and did that just now and I think I found Mei's new wig as her old one is getting a bit tatty after a couple years of use.

I think you can find what you're looking for at crobidoll, leekeworld, and luts.

For leeke, one of the art wigs matches that style and color. The art wigs sell out quickly though, so if they don't have it in stock just check back in a few weeks because although they sell quickly, they do restock certain styles. Other art wigs are truly limited and will not be restocked. I've bought a similar style wig from luts, though it was longer than that pic. You can always cut a wig that's too long though.

>>
Apart from a dark elf doll I saw a photo of once, I've never seen a dark skinned doll. Why is that? Are they just not popular? Do people even sell that?
>>
>>15395921
Most anime and VN characters are light-skinned, and I guess there isn't a lot of demand for tan character DDs in Japan. Volks has made two tan dolls before, though.

I want Hibiki.
>>
>>15393376
I got the latest Rin. So I know she'll be wearing black thigh highs and it scares me. But I guess if I just buy cleaning tools it will just be an occasional maintenance.
>>
>>15395921
I'd still kill for a tan lines doll, but figure it is too difficult to meld two colors of plastic and nobody believes in painting doll bodies in tan color.

My current idea is to buy a tan Smart Doll and then swap torso to light version. It would be close, but fail at among other things neck color. I guess the bonus here is that I would have 2 breast sizes to use depending on if I want a full tan or part tan.
>>
>>15396521
I think that sounds like a Fashion-kun-level bad idea.
>>

>>
>>15396808

>>

>>
>>15395198
Nope, I'm not that guy. Although I think it's nice that a lot of people have been posting about getting dolls lately.

Honestly, I finally pulled the trigger because I found a deal on a body I'd been looking at for a while at a price I could not and did not refuse. Since it was more impulse than my usual decisions, I'm in over my head as to heads, and to some degree, design direction.
>>
>>15396521
Just because people don't believe in painting doll bodies doesn't mean you can't try. I don't know why you can't just by a couple of spare doll limbs and try practicing on them like you would a face-up or body-blush. Mixing body part colors sounds really ghetto.

I disagree. Perhaps it isn't obvious that I want a one piece swimsuit tan line setup. There is no light skin necessary on limbs, only the torso. I could paint it all in a tan, but that would be so much extra work. The opposite would be faster, which is to just buy the torso as bright and perhaps add details to that one if I want to paint.

So after getting Mayu (and pretty sure I'm gonna name her Toromi) out of her box and fussing with her wig and just about everything else exciting, I've noticed her tails near the center of her scalp are bunched just a bit. Like if i pulled the corresponding hair further down the wig, the little strand bunch would go away. Any thoughts?

I'm new to the hobby, and using a phone for photos, but here she is out of her box for the first time! Toromi. I already packed her up for the night, but here's a picture of her sitting on a shelf of my display cabinet. I'll get the wig out one day sooner or later and try to get a good shot of it. I need to work on some better lighting solutions for my living space as well. Criticism and coaching is welcome.
>>
>>15399844
And I already fucked up.
>>
>>15399844
>packed her up for the night
that sounds cruel. are you not going to let her hang out with you on your desk or whatever?
>>
>>15399882
You make me feel bad. I think of it as a Rozen Maiden night night sleep tight thing. Eh, but right now. nothing stand wise to have her totally secure to any one surface. Would have to move and pack up too much stuff in display and remove shelf, as well as roomates hyperactive ass dog thinking she found a new toy if she were to topple from a shelf while I'm away at work, so no chances taken for now. She'll sleep just fine where she is.
>>
>>15399891
Which reminds me that I primarily started buying goods and such after all my pets had already died. I can't imagine what sort of a mess it would if my cats had tried messing with a doll or the rest of my stuff for that matter.

I know I've seen a few dollfags on /a/ post pictures with dolls near cats. Anybody on here have some experience with that?
>>
Pretty sure I've heard that some will try to shred dolls, but it depends on the cat. I'd never leave them alone together to be safe.

>>15399598

Do you mean the hairs sticking up on their own at the top of her head? You fix those by combing them out. You start at the end of her hair and work your way up. Being the first time it's been brushed the wig probably has a billionty knots in it which is possibly why her hair won't rest on her scalp properly.

>>15397754

He hasn't given me any finished work and I'm unsure if it's appropriate to share concept and work in progress sketches as obviously they are not representative of his skill level or finished product. I'll ask to make sure it's okay and if so I'll post one.

>>15399913
>cats

They are awful terrible engines of destruction. A dog is a big dumb bulldozer who, if it does destroy your doll, will not have done so deliberately or will be at least wholly ignorant of its value and make a mistake.

A cat knows you value a doll because you spend a lot of time with it so it'll wreck the doll 100% on purpose - eliminating the competition and causing you to pay the cat more attention.
>>
>>15399960
Yeah, I'll try to explain as best I can. So from the center of her scalp to the point to where her tails are tied, there's a hump of stray hairs. It looks like if you were to pull the hair responsible from the bottom of the wig, the hump would be gone. I fussed with a baby toothbrush for a while combing and that felt rough too, felt like I was pulling hairs out, even though when I felt that, I'd cease the comb and continue from a kinkless spot and work my way down the entirety the wig as far as what felt like a safe comb, as well as a free shake in the air and repeat. So nerve wracking. I didn't notice and strands pulled from the cap though so hey.

Is her hair tied up? I can't see for certain in your photo. If so then I guess you can try pulling the errant hairs through the tie or take it off, brush her hair out and then re-tie it.

A couple stray hairs being removed during first brushing is fairly normal. It is an artefact of the manufacturing process and provided they don't keep happening there is nothing to worry about.

I like how we were both ever so close to quints. Heh. But its the default model Mayu Volks standard wig. I'll take a look at it at one point and report back. Thanks! How gentle are you with your girls. That's another point or contention I find myself at as a new out of the box owner, and careless mistakes can be expensive in this field. Whats too rough for them, and what can they handle.
>>
>>15400036
>But its the default model Mayu Volks standard wig.

Sorry, entirely unfamiliar. I work with Obitsu. Never owned nor even touched a Volks doll.

Ok so I just had a look at the Volks sales page and I can see how the hair is tied up, you should be able to pick up the tie and gently tug the hair through to pull it tighter which will remove the strays. If you pull and nothing changes just grab at a different bunch of hair. Once you've taken up the slack a gentle tug is all it should need, if you're pulling hard enough to move the wig in any way it's too much.

Have you never ponytailed hair before, either your own or someone elses?

As for your question, I am extremely delicate with my doll's heads. They are all irreplaceable if damaged or destroyed so they get special treatment.

The bodies however are a different story, Obitsu parts are cheap and readily available. I had one stuck to the side of the fridge for a while. I've broken a few hips and shoulders pissfarting around too.
>>
>>15400036
You should just get her naked and play around with the body for a while. Familiarise yourself with how each joint works, and its range of motion. If you do just that much, you should become confident in handling her.

If you google search "dollfie dream internal frame" you'll find some pictures that might help your understanding of how the body works. Most of the pictures are actually the DD2 frame, but it's very similar to the DD3 frame that would be inside Tomori.

Also just don't be a hamhands.

Don't have too much experience with cats, but I am proud to say that I have raised my dog very well. There is no way in hell he'd touch objects he's not been specifically introduced to as his to play with, even if nobody's present. There's also been instances where I lost parts or small accessories and he'd indicate where they are (which is especially useful when vacuuming).
So I can allow myself to leave my dolls posed around on the soft carpet or sofa without having to worry.

My friend has a cat and she couldn't give less of a fuck about the figures he's got sitting around either. But I guess that depends mostly on the individual cat, not how you train them.

I like the look of Obitsu for MSD more than I like MDDs. Maybe later on down the line I can adopt myself another girl on a p-chan head. What's your experience with Obitsu bodies? Does the vinyl stain easy? Any obscure issues?
>>
>>15402397

Vinyl stains of course but no more or less than Volks. It's essentially the same material. Obitsu bodies are generally pretty robust however the shoulder and hip socket are prone to being hamfisted. What happens is the vinyl skin gets wedged into the socket when reinstalling the limbs and if forced will explode the socket.

The neck joint also is often very tight on new bodies which can cause problems. I lightly sand the pegs to make fitting and removal easier.
>>
>>15403119
I'm not sure how to prevent stains on an Obitsu. I'd like one though, maybe on a DDH01 head?

I've broken 2 Obitsu hips. My inner socket crumbled away on both, I think the design of the joint puts too much stress on it.
I got fed up and put super glue on the peg to thicken it so its more like a traditional peg joint, it works pretty well

Guys, where else could I purchase the samurai kyoto outfits? The ones in volks US store were sold out for a few weeks already, and I didn't even know it was released until I checked recently.

I even sign up for a newsletter, but I didn't even get news regarding those outfits being on sale...
>>
>>15403649

I've broken two as well and both times it was due to getting the torso skin trapped between the peg and socket which caused it to crack. When I remove legs now I cut away a small piece of the skin around the hoke so it doesn't happen again.
>>
>>15403652
Your best bet in this case is to find one at YAJ or maybe one of the forum marketplaces. Since the samurai outfits will fit both SD and DD you might find them on both DOA and the DD forums. You could also check Mandarake, they'll ship internationally.
>>
>>15403822
I hope I can find, thank you.
>>
>>15403822
Btw, Is there a better word to search for in both mandrake and yahoo Japan?
>>
>>15391495
A little late but Ive had some luck putting SD16 and Iplehouse SID/some EID clothing on the DDDy back when I had one. It works best with two piece items since the torso is shorter and the waist is smaller but its pretty passable if you're in a pinch and gives you a few more aftermarket shops to choose from.
>>
>>15403918
I generally look up the item either on Volks JP by searching for the Dolpa name/number or if I'm lazy I'll check if it's listen on MFC since they have a a button to display names in moon runes. From there on out it's just copypasta and hope for the best.

Do any of you order custom clothes to be made for your girls? Any recommendations?
>>
Ok, New Mayu model anon here. So, question. How did you guys start going about your girls as far as appearance? Obviously clothing is standard, but as far as the more medium level adjustments such as bust, and things I consider to be advanced level such as face-ups, faces themselves, and changing eyes, how do you plan your course of action to achieve your objective, and how long do these projects generally take without haste and due planning in them? Like for example, I feel like if you were to buy a certain wig, that wig really would correspond best to a certain look, as well as eyes, as well as everything else involved. Just finding that balance with your girl and being happy with it. Not just throwing parts and accessories together for the hell of having a complete girl. It looks complex thinking about it. Seeing complete models is one thing, but realizing what you want them to convey and how to go about that is a totally different world of thought.
>>
>>15409146
I have simply no clue how my girls will look before I actually try eyes and wigs on them, I just can't visualize it. I know generally what colors I want though so I go by that and look for a reputable vendor for the items I want and hope to hit jackpot. I do know if I lucked out when I see everything put together though and if I didn't, well, then I'll have to try again.

Faceups are a different story, I'll look up artists, inspect their work and feedback and if I really really like what I see then I contact them to see if we can set something up. At that point I'll generally let them do what they want with some general guidelines to expression, colors and point out features they've done in the past that I like.

Obviously doing it my way can be both really time consuming and potentially expensive so it won't work for everyone, as an example I have a girl out for a new faceup right now and it's taken me close to a year to get to this stage but hopefully she'll be on her way back to me soon.
>>
>>15409146

There's no logical process in making your daughter the way you want her to be. Just do what you want.
>>
>>15409146
>advanced level such as changing eyes
eyes are probably the easiest thing you can do to change the look of your doll.
>>
>>15409278
Yes do what you want. But also do consider comments people make as you may be able to improve there look.

>>15409393
This! Changing eyes really changes your girl. I use the volks eye putty to hold them in but there are cheaper alternatives. As for were to buy eyes I kinda have to suggest Lizanna.
All that said you should also be careful not to damage your girls face up when removing her eyes.
>>
>>15409415
>cheaper alternatives

yeah, fucking blu-tack.
>>
>>15409393
Yeah, but more so of visual presentation and balance as a whole of the final idea behind it.
>>15404640
>>15403649
For example. I feel that a project of this sort would involve a considerable degree of planning as well as experience. I find these girls flawless in visual presentation and delivery of the intention of the owner. These girls are spirited in presentation and executed well. The time spent reaching that breakthrough into the hobby as far as finding a style that fits if anything the original model shes based from, and from there, going about custom faceups, things your girls can wear with confidence and deliver your ideas for them as a project and object of love passionately and properly. That's what I'm talking about. That time frame needed to reach that as an individual new to the hobby to advanced works. I estimated a two year project estimate to being able to feel out a particular model, build, and sense and work from that. Eyes are the window to the person behind them, and I don't think you could just change an eye to any color just because you like the color. Part of the learning experience I guess.. Therefore my point of not being willy nilly with smaller objects that contribute a large deal and can make or break their appearance.
>>
>>15409146
>>15409449
It does take a little bit of thinking to make your girl the cutest in the world. I spend a lot of time window shopping online, imagining how various things will look together, and with my girls. I just bought a blind bag of wigs from Leekeworld last week to try to force myself to experiment more, though. Wigs never look quite how I think they will on my dolls anyway.

I think finding either a wig or pair of eyes you like that you think would go well with your girl's face is a good place to start with coordinating a look. You can try to build the rest of her appearance around just one thing.

Hello there, Mayu anon! How's Toromi doing?

Usually what I do is I look at other dolls. Lots of other dolls, and then I look at my own. I'll give you an example regarding your situation.

Let's say you look at two dolls, A and B. Doll A has a more casual, summery look with light warm colors, and doll B looks very dark with "heavy" bulky clothes. Mayu has a sweet and smiling face, so a "cuter" style would suit her best, like doll A.

That's usually how I determine what looks I want to give my girl, of course with some influence from my personal taste. If you like dark clothes because you feel it makes her look more mature or whatever, then you can combine neutral or earthy tones with light and breezy pieces. But like the other anons said, something like changing her eyes can completely change her appearance.

The best advice I can give is to just look at what other people do with their girls, and try to imagine your girl with those outfits too. Even if you can't draw, sketch up some messy concept doodles. It can really help put things into perspective.

This is a really expensive hobby, so it's wise to consider these decisions. Not to mention, who WOULDN'T want to make sure their girl is looking as cute as she can?
>>
>>15410832
Post your dolls. I bet they're cute.

How do the L bust sizes fit in clothing, I'm curious? Outside of clothing, especially even with the DDDy sizes, they look unreal kinda. Even M pushes it for my tastes as far as the aspect of realism and proportion goes.
>>
>>15415347
>How do the L bust sizes fit in clothing, I'm curious?

If fucking doesn't and that's the problem. Most Azone clothing is for M-bust and most MSD clothing fits S-bust only.

Anything that does stretch enough to fit often leaves her looking just a little bit nippley.

To be honest I'm not a fan of them naked either but her character is meant to be fully developed and quite busty and I've not had much luck finding an AZ02 body (which is more naturally curvy) on its own to put her on.

>>
>>15415405
That sounds like a really annoying situation. Technically I guess you could just swap busts back and forth between outfits, but I understand not wanting to do that. Hell, I'd never do so myself. In your situation I'd just settle for the m bust. The AZ02 body is the one for the 50cm azone girls, right?

Yeah the AZ02 is Azone's new body that some of their character dolls get put on. It still uses the Obitsu inner skeleton but the vinyl skins are slightly different. Generally it's thicker in the important places and does an excellent job of eliminating the spindly alien creature appearance the old 50cm body has from certain angles. I want one quite badly but baulked the last chance I had to buy one on its own.

>>15419438

L-bust clothing for Dollfies is a bazillion times easier to find than L-bust obitsu since the body is, relatively speaking, much more popular and also is more often endowed with big tiddays. A lot of the L-bust Obitsu gear that's readily available is fetish wear for Angel Philias or VMFs which I'm just not interested in.

Won't say it's a massive amount - the thing is a majority of new Azone-line clothing is for the new body style. Their clothing is impeccable quality and always top of my to-buy list so I want to be able to use it.

The AZ02 busts seem to start at "in between medium and large" and go up to "MEGA MILK" size and are also a different shape to the old L-bust so a lot of close-fitting clothing is no good. I am having extreme difficulty finding underwear that fits properly. AZ02 stuff is a no-go, already tried and failed.

You'll be fine anon. Its an issue on Obitsu bodies because they are oddly shaped. Very petite body shape, but with super broad shoulders and long long limbs. Dollfie Dream is more balanced and the L bust looks fine in most regular SD clothing, which the equivalent Obitsu would be swimming in. Saw the difference described before as "Dollfie Dream was someone sculpting a nice doll and putting Figma joints into it, where Obitsu was someone lining those joints up on a piece of paper and trying to sketch a doll in between them".

don't bully obitsus they're cute
>>
>>15419607
If its a soft style, you can store them pretty much how they're shipped, stuff a little paper in the cap and slip it into a net and bag. If its more complicated, you can rig up a simple wig stand really easy. Anything round, smooth, and the right size for the head, and set up on something long enough that the hair won't get tangled or snagged, then once its stood up where youre going to store it just slide a covering over it that wont crush it (a cardboard tube or box, sometimes the plastic bag they often send wigs in will work just popped over top).

If you want to get really fancy its actually super easy to make wig stands. Wood ball, a dowel, a base piece of wood, a drill bit and glue. Then you can make them any length you need. If they slide off the wood balls, wrap some thick rubber bands around before putting the wig on.
>>

Didn't say they weren't cute. I used to own a Friend Gretel and kind of regret selling her, though I'd still be trying to put her on a different body just due to it being a difficult thing to dress. I've had three DDs and a DDdy and they've all been easier by comparison, even right now my SS bust girl and L bust girl both are wearing things not made specifically for their body but still nicely fitting and cute.
>>
>>15422044
Thank you! I think the wigs I have now are fine in bags. Which is good, because I don't have anywhere to put a dolly wig stand.
>>
>>15422010

Well he's not wrong. I love all of my girls to bits but Kanojo's old 50cm body does absolutely nothing for me.

With that said Parabox did wonders with their versions of the body and Azone have done good things with their own versions. Reducing the lenths of the limbs makes it look a lot less noodly and far more balanced.

Don't worry. I had stuff that needed over a week to arrive at their facility. It depends on the original seller. Sometimes they ship items only on certain days of the week due to lack of time. I wouldn't worry too much. Did you select safe domestic shipping?
Also, would you mind sharing pictures of the head you won?

Good, then there's nothing to worry about. Just try and be patient.

How much did you manage to get her for, if you don't mind me asking?

~12k yen which was way too much, but I didn't read about the auto-extension on Japanese auctions if you bid in the last 10 minutes which after I bumped it another 10 minutes, the other bidders went ham and bid it up a lot probably out of spite. Another head I was eyeing which was more conventionally cute went for 8k which is much more reasonable, but alas.

That's not too bad, especially for a head with a modded mouth like that. Although, if you didn't get anything else through FJ, then the shipping and other fees probably stacked another 4k Yen on top of that. But as long as the total is under 20000 it's still very acceptable.
What I don't get is when people throw like 30-60k at a head. I'm pretty sure that buying a blank one and commissioning a face-up of your dreams would still not even come close to being that expensive.

I'm currently also waiting for my latest FJ order. So at least you're not the only impatient wreck in here...

Guys. Check out my new HANDbag.

>>15430012
Thank you! I'm hoping the rest of her stuff comes in this week.

>>15430095
I figured it might be. I don't plan on dressing her up in any of her defaults unless it's for a special occasion or some brief photoshoots though. And even then, bodysuit. Maybe soak her outfit in vinegar for a while too, I hear that helps suck out excess dye.
>>
>>15430166
>soak her outfit in vinegar for a while too
Vinegar is unnecessary. Just use water when you want to wash excess dye out.

What I've heard of Sasara's outfit, though, is it'll stain immediately, get onto your hands and you'll stain whatever you touch, and washing it doesn't help.

After touching it, make sure you don't touch her skin before washing your hands first, and especially not the face. Not even a little bit. I'd be too worried about accidentally staining her face so I wouldn't ever dress her in it.
>>
>>15430237
That's odd, that sounds like some kind of extreme case. I handled it earlier and it didn't let off any dye on my hands, but I don't doubt it could leave some particularly nasty stains on her. I think if I wash it and make sure she has her body suit on though, she'd be alright; at least for a few hours.
>>
>>15429991

So it's not entirely on topic but the guy who I commissioned to draw my dolls for me recently gave me a status update and I thought I'd share it with you guys.

Still mucking about trying to figure out what kind of head I want. I've looked at the parabox offerings, Obitsu's options, and Volks's as well, and I think I'm leaning towards the DDH-05 or 07. For anime type heads is there anywhere else I should be looking for 50-60cm heads?

Also where does one find Volks models with numbers higher than DDH-07 like the 08 or 09? Are they obscure catalog limited? Does Obitsu offer colors other than the whitey since that seems to be all I can find despite being a little interested their heads.
>>
>>15432431
SQ Labs makes anime style heads in resin, and they offer them in a colour similar to Obitsu whitey/DD normal skin. They're a bit smaller than DD heads so they may be better suited to Obitsu bodies, or an MDD, but they do look okay on DD's. The easiest way to buy an SQ Labs head is probably Yahoo Auctions Japan, or you might find one used on Mandarake.

DDH-08 and 09 heads are limited to certain Volks locations. You can find them on Y!AJ

I believe whitey is the only colour Obitsu offers for their big dolls.

Obitsu Whitey is the closest to the normal skin colour Dollfie dream.

I'm a little late to the thread (was away for a few days) but Leekworld is known to have QC issues with their wigs. The exception is the art wigs, which consistently meet (and beat) my expectations.

It's gotten to the point now where I refuse to buy any Leeke wigs that aren't from the Art series. I usually end up buying a few art wigs per year, but haven't bought a wig from their regular line in over a year.

I suggest a long black wig.
>>
>>15437302
Man, I wish I knew how bad Leekeworld wigs were before I bought one like a week ago... The art one should he okay at least.

Honestly I really love the style and color of the blonde that she's got right now. I think maybe a black high ponytail would look good too.
>>
>>15437386
They're usually not awful once you fix them up, and I suppose there might be a chance that your wigs have no issues. It's annoying, though. Other companies deliver more consistently good styles, and some have much nicer wig fibres than Leeke.
>>
>>15437471

Just spent way too long trimming ~4 cm off the bangs of a wig I just got. I've never had to do major trimming like this before so I was pretty nervous, and I messed up a lot. If anybody has feedback, please do let me know how severely I fucked the bangs up/how I might make it better.
>>
>>15438541

>>15438672

And she is too cute also!! I think it looks good.
>>
>>15438672

That looks perfect man. What did you start with and what wig is that?
>>
>>15438541
The wig looks good t me. Of course, you have to find the right wig for you and your doll, you know the one that's just *perfect* Everyone has different tastes, so only you can know when you've found the right wig or outfit.

As for that wig, you might want to invest in some wig wax (Volks USA carries it). Wig spray is simply very very diluted fabric softener in a spray bottle, so you could make your own.
>>
>>15438672
It's quite uneven. I understand you were going for that angle-cut, purposeful-choppy look. You definitely achieved that style, but some sections are a lot shorter than others, thus "too choppy"

Did you hold the scissors near-vertical when cutting? Did you use your pointer and middle fingers to serve as a guide to avoid cutting unevenly? Did you use super sharp scissors? If "no" to any of these that may have been the problem.

It's totally fix-able by the way - you didn't cut it so short that it can't be rectified so don't worry about completely ruining the wig.

Wig trimming is super fucking stressful and I usually have to spend like 30-40 minutes a day for 3 days perfecting it.
>>
Does anyone else have a lot of trouble with standing, or just posing their girls in general after adding the cool cat hip reinforcers? I don't want to risk messing up her joints, but at the same time it's absurd how badly it restricts her movements. Sometimes her feet even slide off from the position I initially had them in to go back to this stiff, "default" position.
>>
>>15438911
The wig is this one.
http://crobidolls.com/shop/step1.php?number=1297&b_code=B20080525084138&c_code=C20080525084214

I didn't take a picture before I started cutting, but the bangs went past her nose. I don't have a firm grasp on the sizes of the various resin heads shops use to display their wigs, so it was pretty surprising to me.

>>15438938
>Did you use your pointer and middle fingers to serve as a guide
I did everything you listed but that. Seems stupid that I didn't think to, now that you mention it.

>Wig trimming is super fucking stressful
Definitely. I feel so clumsy, working in such a small and sensitive space with my shaky hands.

Thank you for your advice. I need to sleep and get over the mental trauma from today, but I'll work on fixing the wig up tomorrow.
