Should I just read the Horizon LN first? or is the anime a worthy adaptation. I haven't felt like reading it up until now because while I love the art and most the character designs, it seems like there's so many of them that ones you like wouldn't get the screen time you want them to get.

You could start wherever you want basically. The anime is a good adaptation, but it's likely that you'll be confused at the beginning. I'd suggest watching the anime first, coming back here if you have any questions and then reading the LN starting at 1-A. You could theoretically skip to 3-A after watching both seasons, but you'll miss out on some stuff.
I tried to get into Kawakami's work, but I just can't stand his style. There's way too much technobabble for my taste. Mind you, others might find this right up their alley. I'm just not the type to appreciate lengthy infodumpings on how magic works and so on. I think it actually detracts from the story, specially when this explanations come in the middle of an action sequence.

I would say that Kawakami tries to get that outside the fights actually, or at least compared to other LNs like Index or Mahouka. When Kawakami gives infodumps is during negotiations or history related issues.
The more infodumpy fight in Horizon is the very first one in 1-A, most of them in later volumes lack any kind of big infodump and sometimes the weapons only get two lines about what they do, usually said by a character instead that a narration. The part were Kawakami's fights are hard to some people is how detailed they are, to the point he explains point by point everything that is going on so some people can find it a bit extreme.

Is it like that anime where some ninja chick could steal other women's titmass, but they win hair and tits after battles?
