Just a follow up to the supply of the Expo tote bags in the NYC Kinokuniya. Busy Anon and the other Anon... HUSTLE. Took this pic at 7 again today and I think at this rate they'll be completely gone by Friday Night.

Posted this on the other thread but it already reached it's limit when I posted it. Making sure you guys see it hopefully.

I called the store and had them ship the tote bag and badge to me for 28$ish bucks in total, that's including shipping. Just ask them to deliver the stuff to you and they'll ask for your info.

Also, I really want to be able to make some friends at Miku Expo this year. Being a lone mikufag is suffer.

Eh? I thought it was because of the concert tour.

>>
So based on the Seattle show, which song generated the best wota thus far? It'd be cool to see which one from every show actually.
>>
>>15138764
I would say what went on could be called "wota". No calls or chants really, just single people here and there. There weren't any Japanese fans in the VIP section that I could see to help lead, they were all on the sides being dwarfed by people who didn't seem to care (as evidenced by a few of the Youtube vids floating around)

I did break out my UO-equivalent flashlight for Just Be Friends. Probably annoyed the hell out of the cameramen/people around me, but oh well.

Slower songs probably worked the best like Last Night, Good Night or Star Fragment, since those are easier for most to follow/maintain stamina, since I doubt 99% of the crowd was used to waving lightsticks for 3 hours.
>>
>>15138831
Well, yeah, you understand. The hey, hey, hey, chants. not specifically the true idoru wota but near for a voca show. Youtube vids have put me in a mindset i guess. I guess just want that synched energy as a whole for certain ones.
>>
>>15138844
Yeah, none of the "softcore wota". I did some "hais" occasionally and a guy in front of me seemed to do it too when he wasn't singing along/mouthing the songs, but aside from that, pretty sure it was only the occasional Japanese fan sprinkled in.

Didn't hear any of the special calls during songs like World is Mine or Remote Control. Admittedly I am not THAT into Vocaloid so I don't know them myself, I just know they exist and would have followed along if someone else had been doing them nearby.

I totally agree with you though, the energy of a crowd that in sync is amazing. I've experienced it live twice and I've never felt anything quite as awesome. Way better and safer than something like a mosh pit. Which is why I was relatively disappointed, even though I didn't expect much at Seattle.
>>
>>15138831
There were a few japanese fans in the VIP. This one guy directly in front of me in the front row did not move a muscle the entire vocaloid set.
>>
>>15138881
About half of the VIPs were like that. The dudes to my right just stood there, shifting occasionally to avoid me after I brushed them with my arm or to take a picture with their phone. They could have at least used their glowstick or waved their arm or something.

And there were Japanese fans? Do you know where they were? I'm assuming you're the guy from Row 2, since there seem to be 3-4 of us Seattle VIPs here. I don't recall seeing anyone proactive enough in front of me (Row 6) to have seemed Japanese. There were a bunch of Japanese people who joined me in yelling for a second encore, but I couldn't tell how far behind me they were.
>>
>>15138910
>>15138881
>>15138831
Damn, no kidding! My show sold out, so I'm hoping it'll be a bit more lively. You'd think for an event this rare people would be showing their all as far as setlist and the event itself.
>>
>>15138910
In row 1, seat 5 and 6 there were japs, and row 2 seat 2 and 3 i saw japs. I assisted one with his light stick, and had to mime a snapping motion.

One of the front row japs was filming the whole thing on his phone while his buddy was just statuesque. Entranced by the miku.

Well to be fair, the seats were pretty close together. I was pumpin my arm to the beat as well as I could. Took a few pictures at the start but they didn't turn out well so I shelved the idea.

Other Seattle bros, how about that stage asthetic? Pic related
>>
>>15138924
I don't blame 'em, a lot of the fans in the VIP line before we went in seemed like their hearts were in right place with the passion for Vocaloid, just that they don't know about how to wota or even what Kingblades are.

If Crypton or Japanese Miku fans cared about developing foreign audiences, they'd put out call tutorials or something on Youtube. I suppose they have to let the guys and gals back home feel superior to the dirty gaijin.

>>15138931
Mm...a Japanese fan that doesn't even know how to break a lightstick? Are you sure they weren't Chinese instead? I heard quite a bit of Mandarin being spoken, as Seattle's got quite a few exchange students and Chinese tourists. Japanese fans who end up coming over are the most diehard, and will know their stuff. Calls and chants would definitely be done, as that's a form of showing support and your dedication to the artist (even if they are just a hologram).
>>
>>15138939
I honestly don't know what a wota or a Kingblade is?

I'm also pretty new to vocaloid. Did VIP anyway because I got hooked last summer and got hooked hard.
>>
>>15138950
There's a decent site detailing a lot of the Vocaloid-relevant stuff at http://chant.mikumiku.org/doku.php.

Kind of wish I had seen this before Seattle so I could have at least educated myself and contributed better. Perhaps it can help people here who are going to later venues.

On second thought, there was a guy in front of me in the VIP line outside the venue. He was telling some other fans stories about past Miku concerts and how things worked in Japan, so presumably he was Japanese or a hardcore foreign fan. Dunno how I forgot about that. I think he was behind me though, so sadly I never got a chance to look back.

>>15138098
There's always a top, middle and bottom percentile for attractiveness. Not all cosplayers will be your friend though, much less your fuck buddy, so don't be delusional like those imbeciles I've had to argue against before.
>>15138695
I feel like their past albums were better, so I didn't buy it this time around. Same with ATOLS and yksb albums ;_;
>>15138764
Not Seattle, but for my first concert, I'm definitely going to chant out the lyrics and do some cool lightstick moves when I obtain one.
>>15139121
Yeah I too feel this. Either this or front row goes fucking ballistic.
>>
>>15139268
>I feel like their past albums were better, so I didn't buy it this time around. Same with ATOLS and yksb albums ;_;

not amazing but not bad. I still put in my order for it and the yksb album. I really want emon to put out a new album this year, i was so disappointed with his "best" album
>>
>>15139121
I honestly just think the number of people who know how Japanese concerts work is just insanely small in NA. The group which know how Vocaloid concerts go is even smaller.

I'm know a bunch of people who do aidoru stuff like iM@S or LL or even 2.5d (I'm also one of these), but barely anyone who is into Vocaloid.

Wouldn't be surprised if most VIPs were just intimidated at not knowing what to do and being scared of doing it wrong. We are all just a bunch of introverts in the end. The resources are there, just gotta put in the effort. Also like someone else mentioned last thread, not everyone's willing to pony up $70 to seem like a "true fan".

So there's reasons for people not doing shit. Not particularly good ones, but they're there. Perhaps if the Miku Expos actually become an annual thing it'll get better over time.

Yeah me too. Emon is one of my faves. It's sad that many producers that I like have not put out any new albums for one of the biggest vom@s events of the year. I hope they will for summer comiket.
>>15139320
Very true. Many don't know the wota culture. I would also like to attend an im@s concert, but I doubt those would be huge outside Japan.

Instead of annual concerts at the same places, I would give other countries a chance.
>>
>>15139349
there should be atleast 2 more vom@s events this year so there's still plenty of time for surprises

I think MEIKO has the best songs in concert, as I like both Change Me and Piano x Forte x Scandal. So no problem for me there.

There are always covers, where some people tune her better. I also love her voice type and have been waiting for an enka type vocal for a long time.

Sachiko's voice has a very different, enka-esque aesthetic (her voice provider is an enka singer). If he was a fan of enka it would make a lot of sense for Sachiko to be his favourite vocaloid based on the similarities.
>>
How many songs where in the set list?

According to someone I know who was in the pleb line that chatted with venue security, they only cared about the VIP section. So regular people could technically sit anywhere else in the pleb seats as long as the actual ticketholders didn't show up.

There were empty seats in the VIP section though (pretty sure even in the first row), and I imagine if someone had been ballsy enough they could have moved over. I personally wouldn't encourage it since you always run the risk of getting kicked out if you're caught, plus it's a scummy thing to do. But hey, your life, your choice.
>>

What are the chances of GUMI V4 English coming out anytime soon? V3 English is $86 on the new shop, and I kinda want to buy it.
>>

Well shit. I'll just hope someone in my row doesn't show up and I can scoot over, I guess. I'm VIP near the front. We almost got centre seats but Ticketmaster crashed and we got stuck with all the way at the side.

English Vocaloid production is dead so I would just get V3 Gumi English now. If they do release a V4 Gumi English, you'll have an advantage on how to use her if you played around with the older version of the software.

Jesus fucking christ why was Seattle so dry during the set. No cheers, no nothing. Goodness... Pep up people... That is really disheartening. New York seems so into it for the 2014 show, what happened?
>>
>>15143048
There were cheers and shit. The only let down was for those of us who care about replicating what the Japanese concerts are like.

The NYC 2014 show isn't that great either compared to any of the Japanese lives. Almost the entire crowd is using the freebie glowstick that dies after less than half the set's over.

From what I understand, the NYC venue has only standing room and the VIPs are up on the balcony, so you were basically looking at a mosh pit. While NYC does have a much larger number of people who do wota, if they had regular seating it would have been similar to Seattle.

And hell, if you know your show's going to be the one going on the disc release, you'd try harder too. Seattle's got next to no chance of being featured in anything but a part of a digest extra feature on the second disc.
>>
>>15143048
Tell that to my ear. It still hurts due to this screeching asian chick.
>>
Welp. Got a 6 hour drive at 5am tomorrow. The things I do for vocaloids.
>>
>>15143116
>the NYC venue has only standing room and the VIPs are up on the balcony
Does this mean it would be easy for VIP to be able to move around if they need to go to the bathroom or leave the concert area?
>>
>>15143116

Keep it together anon, I'll be flying for a few hours for the next show.
After this show, the next time I'll go to concert is if it's near me because I'll be broke for awhile.
>>
>>15144589
Where you flying from? I live in LA but I don't know when the next concert will be so I wanted to get my fill with two shows. Lol
>>
>>15144643
I'm from San Diego.

For the last expo I drove to LA but it was a nightmare for me since I kept getting lost and lost from the different freeway exits and I barely made it on time to the concert.

I'd rather fly in and not deal with LA's horrible freeway exits this time around. It's more expensive without a doubt, but I'd rather pay more for less stress.

How will early lines work for Warfield since there are two shows?
>>

That's pretty reasonable. Thanks for the info, I'll probably go by train next time. I was lucky enough that this was announced several months in advance in order for me to buy a ticket, save money for merchandise, etc. If a sudden surprise event happens in LA in the next few months I'll be ready to take the train.
>>
>>15143048
Seattle anon here. Blame the city rather than gaijin/americans. Seattle is a really reserved and introverted city. People are afraid to show emotion, so I'm not surprised the people going to MikuExpo there are afraid to wota or don't know what it is (especially if it was their first time. it'll probably be better for future concerts if people work on actually educating others).

There's a phenomena called the Seattle Freeze for this reason.
>>

who SF here? went to the presale today expecting a line around the block, showed up about 20 minutes to 2 and was pretty much the second in line. this design is kinda ugly so im just gonna pass it off to my friend for his birthday- also, isnt this shit supposed to be silk? I heard the 200 posters were silk at Seattle...

Jesus christ that's hidious.

And no, Seattle's were just heavy stock paper. Don't want to take mine out of the tube to check, but it definitely wasn't silk. It'd be closer to a wallscroll if that was the case.

>>15146108
>>15146199
Accounts I've heard from people who were there and go to Japanese concerts was that LA 2014 was pretty tame. I suppose it's just different standards and how close you were to people who knew what they were doing.

It's not really a competition though, since we all lose to Japan. Hope you guys have fun, or some shit.
>>
>>15146591
Also interesting that you were sold 180/200 even though you said you were the second in line.

For Seattle on the day of the concert after the venue opened up they started selling from 1/200. Perhaps they keep the last few separate for pre-sales.
>>
The posters are silkSCREEN, not silk.

It's a type of printing process.

That said, so far Seattle>>>>>>>>>>>San Fran.

Perhaps the final joke will be on me at Toronto and will incorporate any number of awful design choices.

Not bad.

Had I known about the concert earlier I totally would've jumped on the VIP. Maybe next year

Oh, literally the same thing from Seattle. Alright then, guess they aren't different across venues.

Apparently they didn't have any lightsticks to sell either? That they sold out of their stock already?

Seems like Seattle will be the best venue for merchandise, strangely enough.

It's different apparently, if you look at the Let's Go page the watch face isn't the same art.

Not sure if that was a prototype model, but who knows.
>>
>>15150539
They had 9 lightsticks. Sold them at presale that started an hour earlier than announced.
>>
>>15150571
Wow, well, safe to say they won't have any for the other venues then. Clearly they didn't want to overstock them, but to have that big a shortage?

Surprising, considering how you can still buy the Japanese lightstick on their online store no problem.

Could be divided up so all venues get some extra. The backpack "sold out" at presale but they had some more available before the concert.

Seems like most in VIP had one from Let's Go anyways.

Some Japanese fan handed out inserts for the glowstick. Specifically labeled San Francisco too.

I got one. He is very kind and apparently goes to all the Miku Expos
>>

SF was better at waving glowsticks on beat at least.

Wish I got a VIP ticket.
>>
>>15150586
Sure, if you live in Japan.

I will never understand stores not doing international shipping.

I thought VIP gets one just for the VIP
>>
>>15150725
No, VIPs just got one regular chemical glowstick like everyone else.

>>15150706
I can kind of understand them not wanting to deal with damaged packages or having to respond to idiot gaijin who had their stuff sent to the wrong address. It does suck though, I agree.
>>
>>15150725
VIP get chemlight same as others.
>>
>>15150458
That's just San Francisco. I smelt it about every 10 minutes at the early showing.

Is there any Vocaloid shibuya-kei or lounge pop?

Seems like either could be a natural fit.

Other than some Oster and Atsuzou (more DJ stuff with bits mixed in) I would also like to find some. I'll have a look later and report back in. Shibuya Kei is fucking tasty.
