I really need to get a better camera next time I go to Japan, it's really frustrating to run into nice places for pictures and just not have the hardware to do them justice.
Is there any genius here that could recommend a camera? Preferably under 600 euros.
>>14778355
Squares are in fact rectangles.
>>14793558
Rectangles are not squares. These photos are rectangles.

You know you're longing when you browse these threads once in a while and start to recognize nondescript locations in photos from previous threads despite not purposely memorizing them and never having been in Japan
Comfy little onsen city.
>tfw went to Japan in 2010
The summer heat and humidity really got to me and wore me out.
It really made the mountain cool that much nicer once I got up to Kamikochi.
Man, I want to go back.
Maybe if I get a decent enough job after I finish my apprenticeship in some 4 months.
>>14853209
What's that? It doesn't really look like a grave although it reminds me of the typical pillar every family seems to have.
This pic is from my 2010 trip when I went to Kyoto and walked around the grave site which pretty much covers an entire hillside.
>>14867293
Why do we feel such longing for Japan? I'm genuinely sad when I look at some of these pictures, but I've never been able to put a meaning to it.
Shitty Photoshop panorama from Megeitsuan in 2014. Still felt that same longing being there.

>What's that? It doesn't really look like a grave although it reminds me of the typical pillar every family seems to have.
My guess is that it was a sort of shrine. I discovered it haphazardly after deciding to turn an empty uphill road that lead to remote and archaic "living places". I had to climb muddy, barely visible stairs through a sort of bamboo forest. I'm kinda glad the weather wasn't warm nor extremely humid or I'm pretty sure going there would have been a pain with the mud and the possible swarming amount of insects.
The thing wasn't remote either, you could easily see tables and benches right behind as well as a big modern hotel right nearby, but the rectangular stone at the foot of the pile of rocks had its top cracked and fragments were scattered. I didn't meet any locals so I couldn't ask.
>>14876246
this might also means that you won't like anywhere else in Asia. You will be treated as a rare species anywhere in Asia. Japan is probably the more tolerable country when it comes to foreigner alienation in my travel.

Japan's rail systems really are amazing, especially the more local suburban/countryside lines. Most use a narrow gauge too, makes them look almost cute.
>>14894840
Wanman trains are very nice. The two I've taken (one in Kyoto and the other in Shizuoka) have gone slow enough for me to get a good view of the scenery outside. Both day time and night time are different experiences, but just as good.

Why so many stray cats?
>>14988986
Because no one spays or neuters their pets and everyone leaves their pets outside over here. At least cats usually have free rein of the neighborhood; dogs are more often than not tied up all day and night. It's terrible.
>>14989066
What I hate Japan now
>>14989151
One of the major (and few) true discontents I have with Japan is how pets are treated. It's so sad to walk past dogs who are tied up on short leashes all day long except for a 10 or 20 minutes in the morning and/or evening, who get little to no attention from their owners, who never get baths, etc. There's no fucking point in having a dog if you're just gonna leave it on its own for 97% of the time, so why the fuck buy one and make it live miserably? It seriously pisses me off.

How would you describe japanese architecture/infrastructure?
>>15002577
Oriental.
>>15003978
well, no offense anon, but that label is almost meaningless in an academic setting. Given the perils of orientalism, and the fact that the orient encompasses a massive geographical area with many diverse styles
>>15002577
really, the question we have to ask you, is 'what era'??

What did you do here? Fiddle with the ryb settings and bump the saturation?
>>15011538
Hard to describe.
Vibrance +100% is half the thing, but then I fine-tuned it to my tastes with several effects all over the place.
>>15011569
Well, I like what you've done with it georgia. imo the anon could still benefit from a better camera, but you're right that they ought to figure out processing first.
