Nice. Still missing a lot of stuff though.

Excuse me if I am wrong, but wasn't the "Real" Erika some broad who fell off a ship and probably drowned, while the one in the story is a theoretical one? I believe that it was hinted that her hair color isn't real, so she might just be someone trying to look like Bernkastel.

Yes, the real Erika is a girl who fell off of a boat and died on the same weekend as the family conference. Witch Hunters had absurd theories about her reaching the island and being involved in the incident somehow.

Is this the one that made Suigintou? I don't find any Suigintou on her DA.

I am still curious, for now, I believe the best to be this girl mercurygin, right size and very good facial proportions, there is also something on her expression that matches Bern most of the time, which many can't do it.
On amanemiss cosplay, she looks too "cutesy" I can't properly describe the feeling, it always looks foreign to the character and I can't forget the fact its someone cosplaying the character.

Either way, russians at cosplay are amazing I think? Makes sense since Putin made anime real and also the whole Natalia meme.

On other note I started using this as my phone wallpaper, is it autistic or something for doing so? Sometimes normies use those google searched "wallpaper girl" using headphones or usually something related to music and its accepted socially. Do you think my choice can also pass as one of those wallpapers for normies? Or on the phone, is only just for girlfriend photos?

I play it at least weekly, but I am garbage and still use princess mode with keyboard macros to do SP moves/grabs/meta. Been over a year of this.

Once I get every picture in the game minus the b.battler one I intend to learn how to use normal controls as I have long passed the point where the number of combos I can't perform is ticking me off, and then I will begin runs to attempt to beat black battler. If I ever beat him I will assume I am just barely okay enough to play online.

Unless one of my friends ever gets into the game before then from me offering a hundred bucks if they can beat b.battler, in which case I will be overjoyed at having someone within a mile of my skill range to play against. I would also be overjoyed if the game ended up on steam and would forcefeed everyone even 2% interested in it a copy during a sale.

Bernkastel may not be the same person, but she inhabits a slightly older copy of Rika's body so she is certainly Japanese. Dark blue hair is almost always correspondent to pure black hair in anime.

You know, an interesting thing about Battler is that he's technically the character we know least about in the Ushiromiya family.

Like, the Battler we get to know over the course of so many episodes is basically a fictional character that attains meta-awareness, but who wrote that character? Sayo.

When did she write him? Technically, probably before she met him again in 1986, because seriously there is no way she had the time AFTER the incident and the consistent death of Eva implies she didn't foresee the actual conclusion of events when she was writing.

If Sayo wrote Beatrice before meeting him in 1986, then the Battler she wrote is basically the 12 year old Battler he knows put in an 18 year old body. Which...explains a lot about Battler's personality, doesn't it? She even made him the Detective and POV character so that he was the one character beyond suspicion. The guaranteed innocent, who even comes dressing in white like a hero deserving a matching horse.

The Battler we know in Umineko is an idealized representation of him. He was definitely afraid of motorboats and plans when he was 12, but did he retain that fear when he was 18? Was he as heroic and naive and sweet and bullheaded as Sayo imagined him to be? Was he actually the true innocent or was he the murderous Black Battler?

Not even Battler himself knows. As Touya, all he has to go on is broken memories and the characterization Sayo already established; the characterization the community of Witch Hunters accepts as canon.

Not even Ange really knows, because she met him fairly rarely, and only in a specific context, which is now shaded by nostalgia and rose-tinted glasses.

The real Battler truly did die, because no one remains who can tell the world what sort of person he truly was.
>>
>>14623628

Most theories other than the official explanation are impossible; the manga has opened the catbox forever. Unless Ryu comes out and says that a parallel solution exists, there's not much else to say really.

R07 used Pottery on Higurashi and Umineko. (just like Lucas did with The Prequels)

So its confirmed that Bern is the same entity as in Higurashi. I am not very sure about Lambda, but I believe its the same with Takano.

My headcanon:
>After being separated from Rika, Bern was lost and became like a vagrant spirit, Featherine (probably Hanyu alter ego) found her and made her, her disciple (her miko).
>Featherine wanted to teach Bern the nature of realities in their own dimension. (Realm of Gods like it was said in Saikoroshi-hen)
>So Featherine made a game for Bern (this is canon) where she would be a cat and could only escape if she was able to write the word "Miracle" as a cat, in a keyboard. Since a cat is not conscious, she had to replay it many times, resetting and by the Theorem of Infinite Monkeys, she would at least once be able to have that cat write the word "Miracle".
>(back to head canon) Bern was able to do it, and Featherine gave her the title of Witch of Miracles. Featherine wanted to teach her about her abilities and how they worked, that gave Bern understanding and independence to become a Witch. Bern understood the mechanics of cause and effect and was able to grasp its concepts, she realized that if its possible, no matter the probability, she can do it, she only needs to find the cause and effect for that ending.
>"He that increaseth knowledge, increaseth sorrow." Bern essence was almost only just the bad experiences she had in Higurashi, with the new realization that everything that happens in reality are just stories, of the possibilities, and you just need to choose the one you want to read. This made Bern have that huge need to escape boredom, which is only solved by gathering more experiences or new knowledge she doesn't know already. Bern instead of being an edgy emotionless character, she is just hiding all the sorrow and probably her hate/envy for Rika happiness. (See: Broken Bird trope)

Umineko is said that ruined many characters because they had actions that didn't make sense in their characterization. I believe instead of developing Bern, being successful in reaching "enlightenment/nirvana" just like it's hinted for Featherine to have done. Bern got addicted to fleeing from boredom looking for many ways of escapism, instead of facing and solving her Witch problems. The idea is that Lambda and Bern are teenagers in witch years. Featherine is a matured Witch, this is why she is so powerful and as far as I know she is only mentoring Bern. but probably also Lambda in some degree.
But since not every story has to be about a character reaching their goals, R07 choose the option to make Bern fail and stay immature lost in her escapism activities, mostly along with Lambda. Maybe in a future story, if not, the possibility is still there.

Hinted in:
>"Ryukishi07 also stated that he has very detailed scenario about her and the other most powerful witches Lambdadelta and Featherine."
>Bernkastel's Letter
>Whose Tea Party?

Meh.

Sorry for the autism guys, I really wanted to contribute something nice here.

Probably because I followed this development since Higurashi, all the theories, TIP stories and R07 interviews, her tropes, that made me love this character concept so much. The correct way would say that I love her concept, since I was not happy with the development in Umineko and not R07 specific character. But still was still fascinated with R07 work on it, even if I didn't like his ending, it's still his story. I just grab his original concept and think about a better possibility which I like better. This is why we make headcanons I think, it's not wrong if we state it as such, I also don't know if this was R07 idea for the reader to have, after reading Umineko, can someone confirm me this?

As I use to say, when we read stories, we are reading something from someone else, the author. Looks like a pointless statement, but people forget that we are reading a concept of an imaginary world that comes from an other human. When we read their works, we are in fact interested in understanding their views in that imaginary world, we can agree or not with the course of his story. It's healthy to doubt the authors choices and I think its the correct thing to do, then we make headcanons of what we read.

I can show you by using the Star Wars example. All the Star Wars drama we saw with the 7th movie, we could see how people were dealing with all of it. People went apeshit because someone different then Lucas changed Star Wars, it's a fact, and good that people realize it. But if you know this movie is not matching the original concept, you just have to discard it and move on. Even if it's sold as Star Wars, it doesn't matter. It's just stories around a concept, its immaterial and extremely subjective, they belong in a Tea Party™ . People inherently were interested in Lucas views (like people do with any author of a story like I said before), if Lucas was not contributing to Star Wars anymore, then its not his story anymore and you can discard it or like it for being better if that's the case.

Does anybody else get this really warm nostalgic, almost bittersweet, feeling whenever they think about umineko? I'm not one to cry easily, but the ending of umineko really made me tear up. I've never been this emotionally invested in a story before to the point where it brought me to tears. I can't deny that the story had its flaws but it was one of the best rides I've ever been on. Even years after I've finished it I can still look back on the story and not get tired of it. Even just listening to the soundtrack gives me that nostalgic feeling. In all honesty, though, and I know it might sound pretty cheesy, but umineko really changed the way I look at the world. I'd honestly consider it to be one of the best experiences I've had with a medium of entertainment. I know that's a bold statement to say, but it really struck a chord with me in a way I can't describe.

Even if it's not umineko, have any of you guys experienced this sort of feeling with something you read or watched?

Damn. I know this might sound pretty slowpoke-ish, but I think I just fully realized why Tohya is able to put Battler's memories to rest at the end of the story. It's because Battler is able to see Ange finding her own happiness despite what happened on the island, and because of that he's satisfied and finally able to pass on. The whole story of umineko in retrospect seems based around Ange and how she comes to terms with her grief, which I think is brilliant. You go into umineko thinking it's a standard mystery story and end up with a story about dealing with loss.

Also another question, how do you guys think George, Battler, and Jessica would have reacted to finding out the truth about Shannon and Kanon? I've heard theories about Jessica secretly being a lesbian and actually knowing what's going on with Shannon and Kanon but not really saying anything, but I really wonder how Battler and George would have taken it.
>>
>>14650577
RS07 said that George would have been fine with Shannon after learning her secret. Yasu was technically a male, so Jessica still would have been straighter than 90% of the cast even though Kanon was literally a dickless homo. I like to believe in the happiest outcome for all of them. After all, that was Battler's wish.
>>
>>14650852
>George would have been fine with Shannon after learning her secret

You are being overly literal and forsaking Higurashi's canon. The game she had with Featherine had a goal that was _like_ a cat writing "Miracle" on a keyboard. Important word is like.

As Hanyuu and Featherine shares many similarities, it is probable that Featherine participated in Higurashi's game. If that is the case, then she met Bern in this game.

Frankly, the simplest explanation is the best. Higurashi was a game between Featherine and Lambada, with Bernkastel as Featherine miko. When Featherine could not win she left Bernkastel to fend for herself. She won the game by pure miracle by trying again and again.

This is the likeliest explanation, one that is the most logical and coherent.
>>
Let me see if I got this straight. The solution to the logic error in Episode 6 is that Yasu, as Shannon, left through the window and changed into Kanon. Then Kanon switched places with Battler. After hiding in the closet Yasu stopped being Kanon, and therefore Kanon does not exist in the closet. Is that right or did I misunderstand anything?
>>
>>14652072
I just don't agree with the part where Bern was already Witch of Miracles in Higurashi.

This means that the whole Rika separated from Bern won't make sense, besides, R07 specifically said Bern was created from 100 years development in Rika.

Unless...

Using something also mentioned in Nasuverse, a "heroic spirit" is timeless, so it can come from any place in time, even the future.
This means that Bern or any Witch is not bound to a timeline and so, the current Witch Bern could interact with her past, in Higurashi. She could be playing in a game where the events where all about her origin which would be a paradox.

I do not understand your incomprehension.

Rika was a piece in Higurashi, Featherine's piece. Higurashi was a fight between Featherine and Lambdadelta. When she could not win anymore, Featherine left, trapping Rika into a logic error against the relentless Lambdadelta.

This went for hundred of years. Bernkastel was born of Rika trying desperately to sort the logic error out and win the fight for herself. Then, after an undisclosed amount of time, by chance, like a cat writing 'Miracle' on a typewriter, Rika found a solution and won. Bernkastel, Witch of Miracle, was born from the meta struggle of all the Rika during Higurashi.

This is very strongly what is implied to have happened in episode 6. Very, very strongly. You can entertain other theories, but you seem to be at loss and confused.

>Higurashi was a game between Featherine and Lambada, with Bernkastel as Featherine miko. When Featherine could not win she left Bernkastel to fend for herself.

You say that Featherine and Lambda were playing a game, right.
You say also that Bern already exists before the ENDING of that game (as in complete Witch of Miracles like in Umineko), by saying Bern was already Featherine miko before that same ENDING.
You say that Featherine quit trying to win the Higurashi game, so left just left Bern (once again, the complete Witch of Miracles like in Umineko) to solve the problem by her self.

What I don't agree is that you are saying that Bern was already COMPLETE before the Higurashi ending.

Unless, none of these implications were what you were trying to say. And this is what I don't understand, your post.

Bern and Rika are one and the same before the full birth of Bernkastel, and subsequent disjointing. When she says she lived for hundred of years in a logic error, she really means her Rika life.

Umineko tends to attract people with an overly literal mindset who are unable to grasp the simplest of abstract thought. I don't mean you, personally, but things like the Rosatrice theory is built on your type of nitpicking and literal mindset.

This Trianthology WTC5 Horutabi or whatever, its so confusing I have no idea what is what.

Can someone explain?
>>
>>14668123
This is the prologue to Hotarubi, which is the new WTC manga. The prologue came from a book which is a collection of short stories as far as I know.

Trianthology is a VN that was announced a while ago, but doesn't have a release date yet. It's supposed to be three different stories that somehow connect with each other, and a manga adaptation of the first story just started a couple of days ago, called Country Girl.
>>
>>14667837
>>14668151
How do you guys know Hotarubi is the new WTC manga? There's not really mention of it being so anywhere. I just assumed it would just be some short manga with takano or something.
>>
>>14668375
You're right, what I meant was that it's related to WTC, since it's about Takano, Lambda and Bern. Bad wording on my part
>>
My current crack theory is that Hotarubi along with Country Girl will start covering two of the three stories that will eventually make up Tri as WTC5, with the way they link together being shown in Tri itself later.

I'm probably completely wrong.
>>
>>14668515
Hotarubi is not part of Trianthology, we already know what the three stories are about

I really liked Rose Guns Days. A lot of people will tell you that the first half of the first game is weak, and it's true. It's not outright bad, it just that it feels aimless. It's a roller coaster of twists, snappy one-liners, political machinations, and unexpectedly brutal main character deaths.

Breaking the forth would be like Takano talking to Rika about winning the game and announcing herself as Lambdadelta, where Lambda was actually using Takano as her avatar.

You're confusing the rules of 'a game' with the rules of 'all the games'.

Umineko was a mystery themed game with a strong emphasize on what is possible by a human vs what could only be done by a witch. Fine. But Higurashi was a fundamentally other game with other rules and other goal posts.

Nothing prevents Bern and Lambda from, say, playing a game where they both sponsor a typical shonen protag and watch who of them both survive to the villain.

Better that than lusting after my brothers dick to the point of near suicide, being an overacting fool before nearly drowning and losing myself mentally forever, or lusting after my younger relative whilst dressing up as a girl, to be honest.

Meh, that's a real let down.
I was so hyped I thought this was going to involve Takano from the happy end world.

Can anyone read what the series description of that new bottom-left manga is?
>>
>>14686783
I can't read Japanese, but as far as I can tell it's the only series in that picture that isn't referred to by name. It says it's an original work by Ryukishi07 and Higa Yukari. I have no clue what the rest of the text says though
>>
>>14686931
Oh, here's the source for the artist being Higa Yukari by the way. I somehow forgot to link it
https://twitter.com/higayukari/status/691817122276728836
But the picture also says 緋賀 ゆかり which is her name

It kind of looks like one of the Trianthology settings, but I don't see the Trianthology name anywhere in it. Which is weird since Country Girl did have the explicit connection.
