With chevrons, quite any CV can do the job in most situations. Of course you can use cranes K2, Taihou and all, but most of the time their advantages is not needed nor do they make your life much easier.

Say you have number from 1 to 10.
When you need stuff over 9, numbers other than 9 and 10 will have trouble the job.

I'm not saying I'm demonstrating 5 CV is better here, but that the problem is more complicated than "less planes, less planes shot down" since you have to take into account CV role, here killing stuff.
Over 20 runs with 4 CV, I consumed an average of about 270 per run, versus 230 with 5 CV. The latter value was computed over 300 runs, so it's bauxite usage might be lower simply due to variance in average calculation due to my small sample size for 4CV.
Although I didn't measure it quantitatively, it did felt less powerful and able to kill stuff than 5 CV too.
So perhaps 4 CV is better, but efficiency in killing and bauxite consumption isn't solely related to # of CV. Hence my inquiry for plane distribution.

Flagships best ASW (two T4 sonars and T3 DC).
Rest get two pieces of ASW (two T3 sonars for low levels, T3 + T94/T93 for higher levels) and a radar if they have third slot. Always bring two ships with radars.
Resupply every two battles, this way you save fuel.
I'm burned out after the event so I just wait out morale. The better way for proper grind would be having multiple teams.

If you wish to focus more on one ship and especially if it's a DD, you might consider bringing a BB for second shelling, this way MVP will be almost guaranteed. This will increase the cost significantly though.
Getting A rank is somewhat common without BB but who cares, the cost of sortie is close to zero.

You can level up 6DDs at once, when you abuse team rotation you want four or five teams for nonstop grind, resulting in possibly >20 DDs being trained.
One other anon used different method with three "flagships" who had good ASW and rotating teams of three other ships with weaker ASW and radars. Never tried it but it seemed to be viable as well.
