At first I was going to say that it's not alternative because pop-EDM is one of the biggest things in the world right now.

Well the whole EDM DJ scene is a bit of a clusterfuck, and a lot of the highest-paid DJs in the world actually just pretend to look busy with their consoles during their shows.
Not to go into too much detail but basically some DJs will just play their songs as they are with no live mixing at all, some DJs will mix the ever-loving shit out of their songs with them controlling each individual track of a song (drums, synths, bassline, etc.) and mixing those around during live shows.
I don't know any of their songs but that did sound like a mix of a few songs with fading and whatnot. Whether or not that was being done live and not pre-recorded, and whether it wa the girl or guy doing that, I have no idea.
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that it was being done live by the girl who is an actual DJ and the guy was just there to equalize the sound levels of the like 6 or 7 different microphones being used on stage.
and yeah I'm really into them now, gonna check out if they have albums & singles out.

Stereo Japan formed this year, it was composed of two groups: Stereo Tokyo and Stereo Osaka, both groups had a different line-up of girls (stripped skirts are Tokyo and plain skirts are Osaka) they shared the same songs but played live with different schedules with their own versions (or remixes) of the songs, they performed as Stereo Japan at big events like Tokyo Idol Festival and as separate groups any other time
They released two CD's: Electron and Anthem, each with three versions (Japan, Osaka and Tokyo) just like many idol groups these CD's were practically the same but with their own remixes and extras
A couple of months ago they separated (an ephemeral group, too bad), Stereo Osaka left the label and formed Edge Dub Monkeyz

As the Summer Sonic has on the same day one live of Babymetal and 5 mini live of diverse idols band (including Passcode, You'll Melt More! and Band ja nai mon), it was a too great occasion to miss it.

Yeah that's what they've been plugging in interviews since they became famous last year, but really they were just supposed to be a one-off meme group for Sakura Gakuin but they just became so popular (relatively) within Japan and then the rest of the world.
Groups like BiS were also bringing the alternative idol scene around the same time, but Babymetal was definitely the one group to bring it to as much of a mainstream audience as possible and most other alt idol groups came after them, and they're also the most metal not-idol idol group

as far as the venue is concerned, same, opening acts pay their part of the costs and in return get a part out of ticket sales and their merch sales, and typically the longer an entertainment venue stays open by the hour the more money it makes with sales of drink & food.

Group such as Passcode and FruitPochette would fit to the atmosphere. The real problem, as said earlier, for an int tour is that except the "top" groups like Perfume and AKB there are'nt a lot of group that are able to bring a sufficient number of fan inside a venue.
It's even worse when your consider than most group idols (Denpagumi.inc ...) play most of the time in animecon when they go international. An I think than one of the master move of Koba-metal was to avoid the animecon and aiming for the metal festival when Babymetal planned their 2014 World Tour.
On the other, a alt idol tour/festival with Babymetal in Japan may be profitable, but I think it would'nt fit the current strategy of the group. That's why I guess we will not see them at the TIF soon.

I didn't know what to think about Rei, especially after all the gravure stuff and whatnot. Ladybaby concert in Cologne was pretty fun yesterday. It wasn't really good musically (the supporting act Scargot was pretty good though), but it was a high energy fun show.
Ladybeard's german was pretty good and he said that he lived in Germany 15 years ago and thus hasn't spoken for that amount of time.
Close to the end they came out with santa hats and a capy and set up some chocolate santas to throw into the crowd. Rei was really viciously throwing them, it was kinda scary.
Rei crowd surfing in the end was a nice bonus.
I must say, it was fun enough to definitely go see them again when they come around again.

So what's everyones opinion on the post-BiS groups? For me:
POP/pla2me: Really liked the early stuff when it was just Saki and Mari, but the new group is also growing on me and the album was neat. Not sure about the new direction though.
BILLIE IDLE: Love the 2 albums, the whole retro 80's stuff is a pretty tired trope these days, but they make it work. But aside from that I don't think I can really comment on them. I mean, there's barely any social media actvity (the most you get is Uika or Non-chan tweeting random shit 2-3 times a week) and they barely seem to be doing concerts, atleast not for non-fanclub members. You hear nothing of them until suddenly "oh btw, here's our new MV" "oh btw, we release a new album in a couple of months" and then it's silence again.
Like the music, not sure about the rest.
Tentenko: Love the noise stuff she does solo or with Florida. The Halmens cover album was also pretty neat. She pretty out there musically, so I guess her stuff isn't for everyone though.
Maison Book Girl: Didn't blow me away. I feel I should like their sound, but it's somehow really bland. Maybe they'll grow on me.

Near to zero I think. The best"hope" may be to have the group becoming "hype", by doing one or two anime ending for example, and pray to have them going to internation anime-con. Bonus if you have a fair number of anime-con that happends in a reduced range of time, like Japan Expo and HyperJapan for Western Europe.
