Id say that the model can work very well, even though there is a passive depression going on the economies are still in a fairly healthy state.

I dont know the exact ratio but if we work the same jobs for the equal pay in respective countries you would pay 10% of your salary for item A in your local store while I would pay around 12-14% of my salary for item A in my local store. The difference is mostly made up by our higher import and sales taxes, which will trickle back to us anyway.

It's not an utopia come to life like reddit makes it look like but it works decent. You have to keep in mind that all the Nordic countries were build up to what they are now on different ways and that still has some impact on how citizens look at things.
It seems like it's going away because of politicians taking influences from "shittier" countries because they want to attract foreign investments aka make their friends happy
