I'm going to apply for a job at a supermarket nearby for a few months while I'm at college. I'm thinking of ringing them to ask if they're hiring and if so go on see the manager and give him my CV, but otherwise I'd approach them without calling and ask to see the manager and give him my CV. That might be a little too weird though especially if he tells me they're not hiring. What do you think I should do?

Truth be told I am already looking for something better. I have to leave my home area and find something new. Plus this org is just trash, can't do anything right except sign my checks.

I am in Illinois. I don't live in Chicago, so it's rough out here. Most businesses that even bother with IT are 10+ years behind and plagued by geriatric staff. I'm very lucky to work where I do because the management is good and the pay/benefits is beyond anything else in my area. But the org itself is going to take years to be up to snuff in IT and I don't want to wait around only to have the world pass it by again.

I want to move to Colorado and try to get a job in Denver or something. Maybe work at UCS.

This is only my second job so I don't have a lot of experience. I did get a four year degree though. If you have any more specific questions, ask.

I feel you are sort of trolling, due to you mentioning some things i am actually aware of.

We need a secure way to talk. As of right now, i might be able to send you in the right direction as we are actually hiring and growing tremendously in East euro markets and the US/Canda. East euro being Poland and in the US we have offices in numerous states. Yes' even in Chicago but those are taken up unless you want to try
>>
>>57394870
Nah, I don't want to stay in IL. This state is trash and Chicago is honestly a shitty city anyway my dude. I have friends and family in CO, so I've kind of made up my mind.

What makes you think I'm trolling?
>>
>>57395190
We have offices in Chicago, Denver, and many other states I don't feel comfortable mentioning right now. What's the ETA on moving to Colorado? We need secured comms so I can send you a secure email. I can only put you in touch with the right people; however, i can;t go into detail of the company or who i am as of right now.

startup or a multinational?
what technology exact field?
>>
>>57391192
No I'm doing an RAship and they give me a stipend, which is basically them getting a research assistant for much cheaper than they'd have to actually pay one. I also get a tuition waver and receiver a bit of grant funding from my professors research. I live comfortably, can't live outside my means but when I finish up it'll be nice

I can't leave till October due to contract.

Truth be told I'm not looking for Denver exactly, more like Fort Collins. I'd take a Denver job if I had to, but that's one hell of a commute, you know?

>>57395456
>startup or a multinational?
Neither, regional business. I can't say more than that.

>what technology exact field?
I won't say the exact field, but I have training in netsec, sysadmin, policy and neteng (but neteng seriously fucking sucks imo, I hate that shit). I work with a lot of high-level applications these days, mostly data analytics, virtualization and developing workflows for other departments.

I'm only 23 and speaking out my ass, but if you're fishing for advice go into data analytics. It is by far the most engaging and rewarding work I've ever done and is going to become increasingly important over the next 20 years. It could really revolutionize our society.
