Where did the "finnish is hard af" meme come from?
>be me
>have known three languages since I was like ten
>decide to learn a fourth one
>every reddit fuck whines about how difficult finnish is
>mfw it isn't
>mfw I've been memed
Seriously, are those people just american """polyglots""" who started learning spanish at age 20 to seem "hip" or what? Are their minds just too stiff to understand how a different grammar works? I know most people who actually started learning languages early on (read: actual polyglots) would have no trouble with it. Where did this meme originate? Is it just reddit culture going "le finnish, 15 declensions, so epicly hard xD" on us? Is there something else I've missed?
>in b4 "t. estonian"
The languages I know are actually pretty standard (English, French, Spanish), so no.

Speaking native tier is impossible.

I would be happy to oblige for BASED DUBS but as you porpbably inferred from my post, I'm actually currently learning it (3 weeks in). I don't speak it yet, I just don't see what the fuss is about. I'm having much less trouble learning finnish than I did while learning english, keeping in mind that my brain was probably much more malleable then.

I'd guess as with any language, just download a grammar to get you started, and then when you're a few months in start looking for content. I think (again, as with any language) it's best to avoid the colloquial, assimil, teach yourself series altogether.

>Verbal derivational suffixes are extremely diverse; several frequentatives and momentanes differentiating causative, volitional-unpredictable and anticausative are found, often combined with each other, often denoting indirection. For example:

>hypätä "to jump"
>hyppiä "to be jumping"
>hypeksiä "to be jumping wantonly"
>hypäyttää "to make someone jump once" >hyppyyttää "to make someone jump repeatedly"
>hyppyytyttää "to make someone to cause a third person to jump repeatedly"
>hyppyytellä "to, without aim, make someone jump repeatedly"
>hypähtää "to jump suddenly"
>hypellä "to jump around repeatedly"
>hypiskellä "to be jumping repeatedly and wantonly"

It does seem very complicated for an outsider, f.am

Five.

The vocative hardly exists at all.
>>
>>62265515
It does though. Plus archaic latin retains a locative case, or so I've heard.

>>62265793

On perhaps 3 or 4 words in total. The remainder use the genitive or ablative.

Believe me, learning a language may seem easier at first, but it gets harder down the line. I was the star student in my latin class back when I was like twelve knowing how to translate simple sentences like "Agricola est in agro et porcum interfacit." However, at some point you will hit a wall where the language will throw a bunch of stupid shit that forces you to relearn a bunch of shit. Latin is now really hard for me, and I dread doing most of the time.

I never said that, the other guy said something like that, and probably implied that he doesn't know any finnish speaking finns.
Also, most of us speak finnish fluently, so not knowing any of us may actually just be not noticing any of us.
>>
It's hard to learn for an Indo-aborginal who's biggest feat in life has been to learn a language of his/her neighbours tribe.
>>
It seems fairly straightforward to me too.

But then again, our languages are related. For a while I even considered learning Finnish because of its ease, but then I realized I already speak a meme language, so what's the point?
