Soon it won't even be the language of Germany.
>>
>>62172930
Uk just left the eu, doesnt that leave no reason for english to remain as a language across the land? Time to start pushing your language onto the states you bankrupt and shackle to yourself. Install german teachers in greek schools and do this for all nations as they fail and you 'save' them. Slowly over time the portugese and greeks will speak german as the italians will eventually come to. One day you may even 'bail out' the french and slip in your hot little wurst. Perfect chance to slowly take over and have your secret 4th reich.
>>
>>62172930
You had your chance and blew it Hans
>>
>>62172930
That's a good thing. English is simple enough to be learned and used by all people the same way. German would degenerate into a bastardized form similar to Afrikaans over time.

There is actually more people than ever learning German, especially after the laws got implemented that you need to know it, if you want to get further visa.

Also lots of people come here to work and already know German.

"Daran" is wrong when talking about people unless you objectify them, if that's what you mean. It's a short form for several cases, like "an der/die/das/dem", so you should be happy about it because it can make things easier! Same reason why you can't simply always replace it with "an das" which sounds a little stilted anyway.

English is the lingua franca of Europe because despite it's irregularities and other challenges, it's simple grammar (for instance the fact that it isn't necessary to learn subjunctive conjugations) and strict word order makes it easy to comprehend for people with extremely limited knowledge of the language. Why would people switch to German, which is literally a more difficult version of English when it doesn't make it easier to convey information?

Main "hard" stuff in German for the average Indo-European speaker is memorization, word order and using the endings well. But it's consistent in general, so once memorized, it gets easy.

This way?

Any language with cases should be banned from being a world language.

>>62172930
It was the close one though.

I guess we got lucky.
>>
>>62184385
Tbh english was already an easy language and you made it even simpler so it really helped.
>>
Also. After some time, you begin to "guess" strong and weak verbs. Unlike in English, where strong verbs are so uncommon they're treated like irregular (and so non-native speakers insist using forms like *digged, *singed, etc.)

>>62193845
Come on, cases aren't hard at all. Not even if you get fancy, Latin and Slavic-like cases... spoken German has only three:
nominative - A DOG barks
accusative - you have A DOG
dative - you gave food TO THE DOG
[A fourth in written language, genitive. But nowadays people just use von+dative anyway.]

Excpet you build a sentence with
"wegen"

Everyone insists the genitiv is beeing used in sentences with "wegen" and you will be verbally cruzified if someone detects you doing it wrong.

Latin is also much superior with it's complex grammar. German is ooga booga compared to it.

Why do people care so much about languages? Who gives a shit, language is just a tool, as long as your're being understood, its function is fulfilled. English is currently a lingua france of the world which makes learning it a no-brainer, its no better or worse than gorillion other languages

Language is the biggest indicator of culture and culture influence.

If you speak the same language as someone natively your cultures are going to be incredibly similar. Learning English as a second language fluently allows further transmission of cultural values from the original language to those who have learnt it, as language is the medium of culture exchange.

To put it simply, if more people learn English, the more the world culture will be that of the Anglo
>>
>>62198710
>If you speak the same language as someone natively your cultures are going to be incredibly similar.
Strictly this isn't true. This is a confusion of cause & effect; cultures arise and form languages first.

Languages are an expression of culture, not the other way around.

English is a perfect world language because its dumb and primitive enough to be taught anywhere to anyone. Who cares that it lacks poetic flair and morphological complexity found in better languages when all you need it for is to ask where's bathroom or strike up a business deal.

some people even wants you to write shit like "Student*innen", "Student_Innen", "Studenten/Innen" or "Student-Innen" (male students and female students) instead of "Studenten" (students) because they can't deal with the fact that 99% of germans use the masculine form of the word over the feminine form.
