I liked Verona and I have been to almost all Italian cities. Cool history and other major cities such as Venice, Padua, Trieste and Bologna are close. I might be biased because it is the first Italian city i visited. You can take your kids in Gardaland which is bretty good and Lago di Garda is one of the most beautiful places in Italy.
