FFS what the fuck???? Its obvious that katana is inferior not becuase of the material, but for the lenght. Its like making a comparison between a beam and a thin blade.

The katana has a good design aesthetically; it is quite simple and sometimes can be even minimalist, which makes it quite appealing to a modern audience. It's depictions in the media that popularised it draw attention to the sword too. In comparison, western swords are usually tools for the heroes to use in their respective stories or whatever.
As a result, all the weebs fawn over katana and then believe that they can live up to what their fantasies.
Katana vs. Longsword is the Superman vs. Goku of historical weaponry.
They were both designed for fairly different combat scenarios and deciding which one is better can be dependent on the situation.
Two Samurai wearing minimal armor, one with a katana one with a longsword? Katana would probably be able to get the first kill swing.
Two knights wearing medium to heavy armour, one with a katana, one with a longsword. longsword wins as the katana is easily blocked.
