Westernization as in the cultures in the country are fading away, our whole legal system is a hybrid of 15 different systems 13 of those are Western and do not function well in this country. The annoyance I face when I notice how Western materialism has sunk in and systematically erodes our cultures, people of this generation tend to only care about the new iphone, new star wars, western movies and so on. (I'll give them credit, our movies are made by edgyptians) I could go on and on. The main issue I have is people giving up their traditional clothes, either to Jeans and Tee-shirts, or the Niqab which isn't really a Bahraini tradition to begin with. You see, it's a battle really between Westernization and Wahabism, we can't keep our cultures our traditions, it's one or the other to people. As these two forces battle it out, of course people will go to the extremes of both, we are human, stereotyping is ingrained in us, turning a situation into a US vs THEM is natural for us. That is why I don't like Westernization, it demolishes a culture that has been built over thousands of years (We are a sea faring culture, and less and less people acknowledge that and either adopt Western culture, or Bedoiun culture.), and it turns the situation into "tradition" (Wahabism which isn't traditional or native to this region to begin with.) VS Modernism (Westernization, just look at Japan/Korea/China and modernization and how it has affected them.). Nothing about hating blue jeans, or pork or the gays, it's just our culture stuck in the middle of two beasts trying to survive.

Only reason Korea managed to do fine is because it already had a massive protestant population, your laws work with their culture and religion.
