It doesn't really have three writing systems though, Kana can be learnt in a matter of days. Its a good system anyway because it allows for the set Kanji system to work. Unlike in Chinese in which you need to constantly learn an endless amount of characters. While the Japanese ones are certainly more difficult per character its a matter of more for less or less for more. Considering familiarity and context makes the variations in readings less of a problem the Japanese one is defo easier.
Further to this anyone can master standard Japanese characters because that has been set out, a foreign person is never going to master all of the Chinese writing system and even the Chinese struggle with this.
Chinese grammar and the language itself is simpler, yes. Tones though are a real problem imo, not only does it sound shit but also these are something that are not intuitive to non-native speakers so are going to pose issues

It is defo a problem depends on what your native tounge is. I think as a pretty standard English accent its okay but for Frenchies or Italians etc which have less "standard" pronunciations throwing in tones is more difficult.
Even so i tried Chinese for 6 months which isn't very long and speaking was by far my least favourite thing, not only that but having to do this for every single word was incredibly frustrating.

If Japanese was so hard then they would literacy issues which they clearly don't and while their are problems I don't see why the joyo kanji and furigana doesn't solve them. Either way its not like functional illiteracy isn't prevalent in the west with our easier languages and I'm sure if you gave a newspaper to the average person you might be able to find words they don't understand even more so with a specialised document like a medical book.

If you spend time on these languages you will realise that simp chars aren't really much easier than the trad ones. Lots of people recommend (for Chinese learners) to have an understanding of the traditional ones.
The Chinese system is genuinely fucked though, unlike in Japan in which an adult can pick up a paper and read it due to the govn regulations a Chinese adult might struggle. Chinese learners for decades might find stuff they can't read however for Japanese learners this isn't a problem due to regulation.
